dammit mines coming today. i ordered a month ago for $290.00
    wonder if i can cancel…

    • +76

You're going to cancel an order you've waited a month for to save $2.21 and then wait another few weeks for this one to be delivered?

      I mean … I have no words..

      • +24

Either /s missing from their comment or the OzB runs strong in this one.

          User name checks out

        • Could be sarcastic

      • +2

        How about Ozbargain spirit?
Fellow Ozbargainer is trying to save $2.21
        :)

There's this thing the young kids are trying out these days, it's called A JOKE

What are these young WHIPPER SNAPPERS doing with all this sh1T i know right????

      • +1

        username says it all :)

    • if yours coming today, you can't cancel it, you need to post it back to amazon and get a refund,
then buy a new one, but please don't, all that to save $2.21, really?

      • +4

        edit: forgot to check username

    • +2

Yeah of course you cancel, the postie will get a notification once he's at your door and then he'll return it back to Amazon for you /s

    • keep yours, order this, once it's arrived, return as previous order…or you can just chat up with Support and ask for $2.21 back

      • Support won't credit price changes on US via AU, as there is currency exchange built in to the price.

The receipt has the serial number printed on it, not sure if that will stop a swap and return

      Username checks out

      • 🤣

I'm assuming he's joking! Because it's common for people to cry and return items over small amounts on here!
Normally it's $20-40, I can't imagine serious over 2 bucks! Unless you're a bum, the effort to return takes more time than the saving.

Thanks for the comments. Apparently some of you guys are high strung 😂.

  • I expect the price for 3600 to only trend downwards from here now the 5xxx are hitting the market

    • +2

In 3-6 months, when it REALLY hits the market…

Has anyone got experience buying the 3500x from aliexpress? Ive seen a lot around 180 aud for similar performance. I have never bought from the website before though…

    • +1

I got mine from Aliexpress and it is a brand new one. Just check the review before you place the order to avoid fraud.

      • What store?

    • Ive seen a lot around 180 aud for similar performance

      I wouldn't say similar…

I recently ordered a 5600x from AliExpress. I was sick of waiting on my pre-order (there was no ETA) and everything else in my build had arrived so I thought I would take a chance with AliExpress.

Took 2 weeks to come in and works fine. I ordered the OEM version (no cooler). The name of the store was SZCPU store (NingJing) I believe.

      • +2

        hit and miss with AliExpress.
Ning Jing has a lot of FAKE accounts on their.

        Heaps of 5600x everywhere.
Right now, there one with good reviews at about $550 landed.

There was a store selling no cooler for $450, got 60 orders, got taken down and refunded the customers.
Alot of the hardware were engineer products and tested products and refurbished and then reboxed.

I know because my cousin actually has a store and has these products. They also have genuine ones as well, but its about $660.

In saying all this, there nothing wrong with the products, its just if they were clear with customers its just better… aliexpress is great for certain products, but they were born through counterfeits, so buy with that mindset !

  • Man, should have picked something up when prices dipped sub 230 a few months back. Now stocks drying up its hard to find a good price.

    • +1

I don't think it was ever sub 230 a few months back. Sub 250 was the lowest I saw.

  • Great deal.

I don't know how Online Computer are but they have the 3600 listed for $285 (+shipping of course) https://www.onlinecomputer.com.au/120740

    • +4

      No cooler and packaging.

      • Good call

  • Don't see how is this a deal.
I purchased my 3600 more than a year ago for 270. Price now should be around 200…or release of 5600 will be required for that to happen.

    • +6

      more than a year ago

If only I could go back in time.

      • +1

And win the lottery, so we don't have to worry about inflated pricing.

  • Good price for a solid CPU considering the current market.

  • any deals on good mobo's to pair with this? (with provision for future upgrades to 5000 series)

    • Maybe this

    • Aorus pro, steel legend, mortar just to name a few

Edit: derp I didn't read you were after DEALS I was thinking mobo models

  • When will we see further price reductions

    • +2

When will we see further price reductions

Let me summon the Ozbargain Oracle.

      • “Mmm… bargains smell good, don’t they?”

  • How much should I sell my 2600. Want to change to 5800x

    • $180

    • $5. To me.

  • I want to know why the RRP is so high right now for the 3600 CPU i remember when i built 2 pc's last year they were only $299. Our dollar is up if anything imports shpuld be cheaper right? or have i got this the wrong way around.

    • It takes quite a long time for currency value swings to reflect in local pricing.

    • +2

Covid times, strong demand, low supply of 5600x, etc.

    • Rather than drop the RRP on 3000 series, AMD decided to increase the RRP on 5000 series, and continue selling both

  • Thanks! Finally bought!

  • +3

I like the 3600 but I reckon this should have come down more than this by now. I ended up going with 10400f @ $210 for my brothers new PC build as it's comparable gaming performance while being significantly cheaper.

  • Damn just purchased one yesterday and opened it up. Great CPU and worth this price, especially with the current market.

  • So what would be a good mid range mobo and 3200 RAM deal to go with this? And video card. Say spend up to $750 on those three items?

  • Sorry, should have been more specific. Looking to upgrade from my i5-2500K with a GTX970. Apart from office work, some gaming at 1080 and 1440. Fortnite, Civ VI, Raft, Fallout 4 etc. Mostly older games.

  • Is it just me or have these not dropped in price (or much) in the last year?

    • Yeah, if anything it's actually a bit higher in price now than when it was at its lowest point. I believe these might have gone out of production now, with AMD selling heaps of CPUs, GPUs for PC, mobile and both Xbox Series S/X and PS5, the demand is higher than what TSMC's manufacturing capacity can handle, which probably explains the higher price.

FWIW, at around $290, it's a reasonable price. It's not a price so good I'd rush out and buy one even if I didn't need it, but if I was looking for a mid-range CPU to go into a ~$1500-ish system, this would be a good pick.

  • I want to buy but the RTX 3060 is too expensive right now. I will keep waiting.

    • Can I ask why there is no cards atm under 1.1k? Think I saw a Radeon card but I've been out of the loop for PC's for a few years. Seems crazy to me.

  • The Ryzen 3 3100 is better value, the 3600 only has two extra cores. 3100 4 cores $160 vs 3600 6 $290.

  • how many cores in your belly? (referring to your display pic)
