Big W sell for $37.84 online before delivery, possibly same price in store.

Some ppl may prefer to buy in store. I don't see what the problem is with Bruce pointing this out.

Thanks Scampy! Didn't think I needed to explain.
Yes, some people still like to shop in a store. Here's my 34cents worth…

Why? Easy returns policy at Big W if it is not what you/other-half want, if it is faulty - posting it back may be expensive on a fairly cheap but heavier item like this, can see in store & take home immediately rather than wait for delivery at this busy time of year (may be a Chrissie present), Woolies Rewards points, accessible to many across Australia, my last parcel (13 bottles of wine) was lost by Australia Post and that has been a big pain getting a refund, some people are wary of online fraud & giving details & being on mailing lists, may not be able to be home for delivery, possibility of unattended parcel being stolen, …

And quite a few places have at this price or less - just giving a price comparison. (BigW was top of Google search.)
So only added benefit is the free delivery, if you need it.
Plus there is also the 4% ($1.50) money back.

        Has been $19.99 + Shipping http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/50846

Yes, some people still like to shop in a store.

Yet you're quoting an online price ???

And quite a few places have at this price or less

So why not post a cheaper delivered price, rather than a more expensive one ?

        • LOL The mob is not with you.
But, I understand - this is an OK deal, if you need delivery (live remote or can't be bothered with the crowds, etc) & don't mind waiting at the busiest time of the year! We are all different. I'd rather just get it now.

(As for quoting an online rather than a store price, well it is a bit difficult to Google store prices (online prices are usually the only ones given) or contact a store for a price when closed at night!
As for citing a cheaper price delivered, I thought I had pointed out the possible disadvantages of delivery, plus quite a few people are still happy to talk to a human & maybe pricematch or haggle. I did not want to wait for delivery at this busy time of year - I wanted it BEFORE Christmas! (I have just spent weeks haggling with a wine supplier for a refund because Australia Post lost my consignment. I can do without that again!) You are free to look for prices yourself - pretty easy to Google!)

While I was out shopping at my local centre, the first shop I popped into had this model for $36 at HN. (Sunbeam has a price reduction promo at the moment. So I am sure there are better deals.) But it is small compared with the family sized models (suit 1 or 2 people max), no height control, and I don't think it would stand up to the usual breakfast bedlam. Still I picked up a cheap USB drive (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/59994).
So I am glad I went into a store.

But the other great thing about going shopping -
Ozbargaining lunch for $2. (Can't get that delivered online.)
          $2 Whopper http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/58964
          Free Coffee & Cake http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/56080
(flirted with the young woman serving & got extra treats!)
Searched Woolies, Coles, JBHiFi, DS, BigW catalogues for deals while I imbibed, saving quite a few dollars on the groceries, etc.
Free Cornetto on way home http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/59118

Oh and the petrol was 8c/l off & a freebee http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/56081

          Another great OzBargain day!
(Theres more to a deal sometimes, than just 34c!)

  • Edit the title, there is a option box for the code.

  • Thanks for the listing, i just purchased it at $37.50 delivered

the way to say thanks is to give the deal a positive vote

  • Boo.. no height-control :( Why is it so hard to find sandwich presses with height-control these days? I have an old and battered Breville that has this and I couldn't imagine doing with out it. I use the ones in the office without and they always squash my toast :(

    • You are right - its a pretty basic small grill, suitable for 1 or 2 people max. This one will squash the back of your toast for sure.
