    GREAT phone

    • +2

Definitely is a great budget phone. However, if taking photos is important I would avoid. Having said that, very good value for everything else and I'd buy in a heart beat if I didn't want slightly better photos.

      • +2

bought it last time after checking reviews , specially about camera tests. great phone for its price, photos are really good either

        • I agree for price it is great. However, a quick YouTube comparisons will show the cameras short comings. For this price it's great, though.

          • -7

@tessel: who tf keeps neg'ing this. I agree with this, phones from previous gens that are available for a similar price now $300ish aud have way better camera quality than this, cons being poorer battery life etc. That being said no-one in their right mind buys a $300 phone to have absolutely everything.

            • @Lighter Fluid: are you suggesting one should buy a 2nd hand Sammy S8 (maybe S9) for 300 as a better option than this?

            • +1

@Lighter Fluid: Not me man :-/ This phone is great and anyone spending this amount on a phone isn't after a flagship, so all good. A while ago I started looking to upgrade my mi max 3 and after you watch a heap of YouTube vids and reviews you quickly learn that budget phones, while the pics look ok at first there really is a big difference in quality. Again, great phone and price but pics are important to me.

      • It's ok for many people. I've seen worst photos from people with newest flagships because they don't even bother to clean their lenses. It's either because of lack of knowledge or attention to details. Not everyone is enthusiast like us.
For years iPhones been behind the competition in camera department until recent years but nobody seemed to care at that time.
People looking for great photos, already know what they gonna get. We just have wrong expectations sometimes.

      • +5

I've found the camera quite decent personally. Gcam mods will take it to the next level

        • +4

I tried atleast 10 different versions of Gcam mods, none of them worked (properly). Gave up in the end!

        • +1

I've got the 9S and find the camera amazing, even in low light. Odd thing is the photos are better than the samples I found online for that phone. In short… exceeds my expectations for a camera phone.
$1500 phones may be better but I could not imagine by much unless you are extremely fussy.

      • Bought the Redmi Note 9S recently and find the camera to be exceptionally good. May not be on par with a $1500 plus phone but it sure is a compliment to compare it to them :-). That's how good they are.

  • I would get one but it's Banggood.

    • +4

      My girlfriend likes Banggood

    • Why? Pay your money, get your item.
As usual with these o/s bargains dont expect a warranty.

  • +1

How does this compare against poco X3?

    • Okay seems like poco X3 is slightly better.
      https://m.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=10217&idPhone2=…

      • camera is better in redmi

        • +1

          Really?

Haven't seen any side by sides, but generally the Sony sensors outperform the Samsung sensors, (all else being equal).

    • I first ordered the 9 pro then they could never deliver it some months back so ended up with the Poco x3. So happy with this phone.

I have some cases for the 9 pro that are useless though!

      • Ahhhh great! I have my Poco X3 on order, but they haven't posted yet, super looking forward to it.

  • +2

Does anyone know how long it would take before this is received? I had just ordered one on eBay at $340, but the estimated time of delivery is 12 days which is better than waiting a month

    • +1

I ordered some led light strips from Banggood, was expecting them to receive in the last week of Jan based on the delivery estimate, but was surprised when they arrived in the middle of Jan.

So ordered on 4th, shipped on 8th, arrived on 15th.

      • +1

        Bang, they are good!

    • +4

I bought a poco from bangood and it took 26 days and with the worse thing being it was delivered by fastway….Id pay extra to avoid fastway, especially when the deliverer left it in a pot plant by the front gate of our place where 5 other people (3 methheads) live. If I hadnt of got a visitor that made me go to the gate I prolly wouldnt have seen it and anyone could have taken it. Damn I hate fastway. Fastway are now called Aramex.

      • +5

agree, Fastway Aramax suck at delivery, they drop my packages in my front yard in plain sight of anyone walking by… everytime…

      • +1

You got 5 people living in a pot plant?!

        • hehehe, smart 4r53 ;P

      • Aramex are bad but with covid no courier will deliver to you personally.
All couriers now just drop it at your door, take a photo and mark it as delivered.

        • Our front gate aint my door and visible from the street.

          • @PAEz: Thats the guy in the shirt then and not the company. For me AP are far better than private couriers around here.

        • agreed, will avoid using aramex at a cost, they've stuffed up 2 deliveries in the last month, 1. they didnt deliver/lost track of parcel which they ended up returning to the seller after a month of to and fro, 2. they delivered to someone a whole street away with the same postbox number, they even told me they delivered to the wrong address and didnt come rectify it.

  • Includes Band 28 (700 MHz) for Australia which is widely used by all Telcos.

Even Vodafone? I haven't seen anything about Vodafone rolling it out everywhere and just looking it up now it seems they're saving it for 5G.

    • +1

Not having b28 would be the least of anyone's worries on the Vodafone network… :-) They are yoloing it just being a Vodafone user.

      • +4

I have used all the major networks, for me Telstra is by far the lousiest, especially indoors. This is for Melbourne SE. Only on Carrum Beach do I get spectacular 4G (300 Mbs download) with them.

        • +2

I work in an office in the CBD on the 36th floor. Friends on Telstra have terrible reception. Everyone else is fine.

    • +2

using boost and voda on it, voda connection is better and faster

  • +1

Loved my mi a2 I got my son but regretted buying as it lasted 13months and died. Makes me wish I’d purchased locally for a bit more.

    • +2

I have a RN4X, a RN5H and now a RN9S. Never had a hint of trouble with any of them. Very well made phones that all still work like the day I got them and the batteries in both the 4&5 still hold charge like new.
Had an expensive locally bought phone prior to these and it was junk. Boot loops, locking up and poor battery life.
Was the A2 killed by rom experimenting? Only asking as i have seen it done often in forums.

      • No didn’t do anything dodgy, just got as a Big Bang for buck phone for my son.

Only mentioned as if I’d bought locally under consumer law would have had it fixed at 13 months old but bangood just said sorry out of warranty and I was left with a $200 brick and had to buy another phone which I can say was not junk.

Opposite scenario to you I guess, for quality of phone it doesn’t matter where you buy it but after sales service and warranty definitely does.

      • +1

Agreed. Had RN4X, total battleaxe. Pixel Experience are still making current ROMs for that phone. Strayed to Motorola had two phones with mech failures. Back to MiA3 and it's toit

  • +5

Great value phone. My dad has one and absolutely loves it, gets insane battery life, probably about 4 days before he has to charge. Before that he had a Redmi Note 3 that lasted 4 years, and it still worked fine at the end of that, just wanted something with a slightly better camera.

    • +4

can confirm great battery life, pokemon go ALL day, still 50%+

  • +1

Sorry for a silly question when I'm buying which version I need to select Eu or other version?

    • Take Other version.
Eu is only for Europian Union.

      • Thank you

      • Don't think it matters. As long as it is not the China version it's fine for Aus.

    • Either version is fine for here.

  • +2

I have this phone. Best phone I've ever owned. I had a pixel for a bit and the battery was rubbish. I charge this every second day. It's as snappy as the pixel was. I don't take photos so I can't comment on the camera but for me it does everything I want. My only complaint is due to relative obscurity it's hard to find good 360 protection cases for it.

  • Does this have Redvine 3 (aka Netflix HD)?

    • +3

It has Widevine L1 ,(aka Netflix HD).

      • Awesome, so Redvine 3 is the crappy one? Learnt something.

  • This or the A71?

  • Go for this or wait for the redmi note 10?

  • I like how it comes with a case.

  • -4

    +10% Australian tax

  • From what I can see, the banggood website is not showing B28.

    2G: GSM B2/B3/B5/B8

    3G: WCDMA B1/B2/B4/B5/B8

    4G: FDD-LTE B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B20

       TDD-LTE B38/B40

    • +2

      It does have B28.
The list of bands posted by the op above is 100% correct.
If still in doubt go to the Xiaomi product site www.mi.com and read the specs there.

      • thanks for confirming that. i did have a look around and looks like banggood is the only one not showing B28.

        • +1

Their specs listing is wrong… They do thst with all phones.
          IT DOES HAVE B28.

  • +1

    Is warranty valid in Australia?

    • No real warranty.
Buy thru an oz Xiaomi seller if warranty is your main concern but expect to pay a whole lot more.

    • +1

No, but if you can be bothered flying to Vietnam they will repair same day for free. Happened to be in Hanoi, surprised the crap out of me.

  • Banggood answered all my emails after my laptop purchase. Not sure why in your case

  • cheaper today: 288.94 + 3.77 (slightly better xrate than yesterday),
or 286.05 + 3.77 if you use the app.

    • Not sure if cash back works with app though?

  • How this phone comparing to POCO X3 NFC?Which phone come with better camera and better performance?

    • Poco should be better differences are explained in this video

  • +1

Does anyone know if they changed the camera module? I got the note 9 pro on an earlier deal but I notice that the camera module looks different now

  • +3

Poco X3 also on sale for $302.08 and 64GB for $262.67

    • +1

      Thanks bud. Got one.

  • Wireless charging must be really expensive to include. I never see it in these type of phones.

  • -7

DONT BUY FROM BANGGOOD, THEY ARE USING ARAMEX FOR THE DELIVERIES FORMERLY KNOWN AS FASTWAY.

THESE PEOPLE WILL NEVER DELIVER YOUR PARCEL AND BANGGOD WILL NOT RETURN YOUR MONEY.

GO TO FASTWAY REVIEWS IN GOOGLE AND CHECK IT YOURSELVES.

I AM VICTIM OF BANGGOOD AND FASTWAY SCAN BECAREFUL.

I mean, however old their account is, they're dead right - Fastway is the worst courier company I've ever dealt with. Multiple times something will go wrong - no communication, dumping things in weird places, missing packages, etc.

It's not a scam, but it does suck.

        • +1

I'm literally waiting for 2 packages ( the blitzwolf projector and a couple of Ring doorbell power supplys ) now weeks overdue and the couriers happen to be Fastway / Aramex.

          very frustrating

  • Should we use a credit card without international transaction fee on Banggood to avoid the 3% fee?

    • You can, I did. Purchase in US$ to save a few $ also.

      • +1

Thanks mate, thats smart I didn't know you can do that.

I ended up paying about $290 Inc shipping.

  • +2

Tropical Green.. i just… i know it will have a case on it the whole time.. but.. Tropical Green…

  • any deal about the Xiaomi 10 Ultra 512gb. It looks out of stock in China and very expensive in AU

  • Worth upgrading from my Galaxy Note 9?

  • Would getting it sent to a post office nearby be better to solve the delivery issue?

    • Others have said that Fastway/Aramex are the couriers and 3rd party couriers do not deliver to post offices, only Auspost does

      • Startrack does. But they are part of Auspost I think.

  • Edit: problem resolved.

  • Should I be concerned I can't see Band 28 on the Banggood listing?
    https://au.banggood.com/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-9-Pro-Global-Versi…

    • +3

      No.
      Already discussed above. Zap there

  • +1

Thanks OP, picked one up last week.
Does anyone know when tracking should start working?
I see "Package has been sterilized and shipped out." and a tracking ID, but 17track.net can't seem to find the ID yet.

    • +1

Same for me, that message has been there since 28 Jan.

      • +3

Bought 2 phones off BG back in late Dec20. After the sterilising comment there was no tracking until it was received by Aramex in Sydney. After that there was no more tracking until on board for delivery appeared a couple of days later.
If you look at the Aramex / Fastway forum in Whirlpool you will see that the time your parcel is held up there can vary.
Mine took about 3 weeks to delivery in total. For the price of their shipping that is fair enough.
