It's only 18% if it actually tracks.

    • +8

      User error

      • On websites it's more likely but they couldn't even track a BWS one which went from shopback app to BWS app, with no website, ad blockers etc in between.

      • +5

Hasn't tracked for me, when using website, for this specific store.
Don't think it's user error on my end, as I've successfully tracked other purchases for other stores.
Others seem to have no issues via the app, but there's no reason why it can't work on website, and no indication that it's app exclusive.

        • Mine worked 25%, through app. It is silly it didn't register through website

      • +2

User error after applying all the intricate rules they have… sure.

Just bare in mind if it doesn't track, they'll have enough reasons to tell you they're taking care of the issues for weeks, then they'll have as many reasons to eventually decline.

      • +3

If you hadn't upvoted I would've taken this as sarcasm.

Notice how much more frequent the negative experiences are on Shopback posts? It's not a coincidence!

Check your email, you might have a good flybuy offers too! mine is like this
Collect 8,000 bonus points or get $40 off your shop: when you spend $80 or more in 1 transaction in-store or online each week for 2 weeks at First Choice Liquor Market!

    • Did you activate this and fulfil the spend requirements for week 1?
I spent over $90 and now that we've ticked over to week 2, there's no offers activated in the Flybuys account.

      • +1

Yeah I have activated it and similar to you no offer shower but don't worry as it will show up there soon and you will get email reminding you to show this week.

          Good info - thanks.

you can combine the deal with amex spend $100 get $10 cashback, not bad…

    • +2

good point; although i've been buying coles myer gift cards instead.

    • wish I had that on my amex! - Would have worked out $100 for two bottles of Tanqueray 10 after amex offer and $20 cashback from SB

  • +11

    Yeah this never tracks properly.

  • +5

    Who's feeling lucky

  • Makers Mark 46 down to $49 after cashback

  • +3

Didn’t track last time on 20%. Funny how the small ones tracks fine but not the bigger payments. Not worth the risk unless prices are good and this cash back is a bonus.

  • Can we pay with Flypay and still be eligible?

  • +6

I never rely on Shopback to make something worth buying as I too have had multiple not tracked/denied payments.

If you are not happy with what you are buying without cash back don't buy it.
Treat cash back as a bonus, if it tracks and they pay out then great, if not make sure you are still getting a reasonable deal.

    • +1

in practicality I agree with you, but as a customer , we shouldnt have to "hope" or assume its not coming

it shouldnt be like a lottery

    • Assume the worse, hope for the best. That's ShopBack. 🙃

  • Is it limited to only 1 transaction per customer?

  • +4

I would love to see what proportion of shopback links actually track… It's basically false advertising at this point.

  • last time i shopped with them, I bought a $60 bottle of gin, but instead got $300 worth of wine bound for a different state. Called them up and they said someone will pick them up and give me my Gin… still hasnt happened but I aint complaining

    • the only win I had with them was a few years ago, bought 3 bottles and was expecting a huge cashback,
after a lot of "you need to contact us to confirm payment details"
followed by "you are only allowed to buy 2"
I was only allowed to buy 2 bottles,

but ended up getting cashback for 3 bottles,

thats my only win story :)

  • Anyone know if alcohol free products are eligible? Can't see any exclusions in terms conditions

Can't wait to chase this up with Debra then get denied for no reason. Last time I submitted a video recording of the whole process and they still denied it.

    • +4

The ACCC is your friend. Log your complaint, they'll be forced to act if enough do. Cash back is nothing more than a scam if the retailer makes an offer and fails to deliver where evidence of click and purchase exists.

  • +2

Monteiths Pointers Pale Ale Bottle 330mL are $40 a carton (at least in QLD) or 2 cartons for $75. They are usually $70 each apparently.

It works out to $61.50 for 2 cartons with the cashback, seems very decent. It's even a decent deal if / when the cashback tracking inevitably fails.

  • +2

Have hardly ever had issues with either Sb/cr, what gives? Just a loud minority complaining /commenting or am I just lucky? Using the website even with adblocker.

Once or twice it hasn't tracked which was resolved after raising a ticket.

    • Coles/WW liquor sites (LL, BWS, FCL) are the BIG problems.

      • -1

The ones I use most tbh 🤷‍♂️

    • I’m with you. I’ve never had an issue. I do try to be careful and either use their apps or a clean browser (ie no extensions).

  • +9

These guys never track. You shouldn't need to continually chase up tracking. Not to mention, the customer service is a scam, their live chat bot is horrid and there's no easy way to get real help.

Save your money, time, effort. Wait for Cashrewards and forget it.

  • ~$55 after cash back for Tanqueray No Ten. (On Sale currently for $65)

  • Tracked within the hour.

    • Mine took several hours but it still tracked at 18%.

Previous First Choice Liquor and Shopback thread - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/597789

Tip for anyone doing C&C, if it doesn't track within 2 days, just call up and refund your order.

    • Does first choice allow you to return for change of mind? I think on their website it says no refunds for change of mind

      • If you don't collect the order after X business days they will cancel it , return the goods to stock and refund the payment.

        • They keep your order for 5 days then cancel it if you don't collect it

      • In this case it's not a change of mind. Under consumer law they have no choice but to refund you, although people in store may not understand. In reality as lomg as click referral and purchase evidence exists, the business (and the referrer) should be honouring their offer, and will probably do so if you "threaten" to take the issue higher in the organisation. Always ask for a supervisor and record your interactions. Email is great for that - and/or to the ACCC.

Problem is it takes time, effort and persistence. Cashback is essentially a price reduction offer to consumers - which businesses MUST honour. The fact that their systems aren't robust enough and their agents (SB, CR) aren't active enough to pursue claims is no excuse.

50% or less strike rate for me. Poor customer support.

  • +1

My purchase tracked within 8 hours for the maximum $20.
