    Thanks OP! Grabbed 4!

    • +10

Sorry to break it to you, I think you grabbed 4 Microsoft Surface Headphones by accident.

  • +2

I do like these better than Sony's headphones but could not justify the price.

  • +11

I got them for $855 at retravision about 3 weeks ago and so far I think they’re decent but nothing exceptional and definitely not worth anything above $400-$500.

Amazing build quality , good sound, case is straight garbage.

I own the Sony xm3 and I would say the sound quality is 97% the same with the Airpod Max being marginally better.
Airpod Max NC is far superior to Sony though.

I’m in an apple fanboy btw so it’s a hard pill for me to swallow to say I think I wasted my money on an apple product for the only second time ever.

    • +1

is it true there's no power button to turn them off?

      • +2

Yeah it’s true. You have to put them in the case and then they go into an “ultra low power mode”bSo they actually never ever turn off. It’s a strange design flaw IMO.

        • +1

No, you do not need to put them into the Smart Case for the AirPods Max to go into their lowest power consuming mode (ultra-low-power mode).

The AirPods Max go into the ultra-low-power mode if they sit stationary, outside of the case, for 72 hours.
If you slip them into the Smart Case, ultra-low-power mode is activated after 18 hours.

          • +3

@barney: so in other words they're not in ultra-low-power mode for those 72 hours. how much power is lost?

            • +11

@ltwo: Enough so that after two years the lithium battery "needs replacing" :)

          • +3

@barney: For all intents and purposes you proved his statement.

Taking 72 hours to turn something off is not what any person would practically do when they want to turn them off. Not least if you put them in the case as he mentioned they go off 75% sooner.

            • +1

@odysseus: I'm not condoning the decision on the timing here — I can't comment since I've never used these. That being said, there are many reviews that you can read online that have seen single digit percentage battery losses overnight. Seems pretty negligible to me. Everyone loves an "Apple-gate". If this was truly a problem, I'm sure you'd hear more about it by now.

The reason why this seemed to be an issue when they first came out was because Apple didn't disclose the information shared in the support article I linked above (which was a poor decision, bordering user-hostile decision). After many reviewers starting saying "you can't turn these off without putting the headphones into the case", Apple clarified by way of the support article.

          • @barney: how tough is it to add a power off switch so that turning off the headphone can be decided by a human being?

        • Not that people complain about airpod does not have a power button though (I know it turns off after putting into the case)

I think their idea is so you can simply put it on, without having to turn it on. If the battery last long enough, strictly speaking there is not much of an issue.

    • +3

Ok go on. What was the other time?

      • +1

It was an iPad. I have a MacBook, iMac, kindle & iPhone and between the 4 of them they can all do what the iPad does and I just have found no use for it at all.

        • Yeah I keep trying to think of an excuse to buy an iPad as the new ones look so nice, but can't think of a single one besides Sidecar haha.

      • +17

I was pretty salty when I bought an iPod Shuffle. Turns out being able to actually find the music you want is kind of important

    • +2

I found their Transparent mode was so much better than Sony's when I tested them out and you sound exactly how you would without the headphone.

      • +2

I love the seamless transition between all of my devices. You don’t get that with the Sony or Bose…

        • Yeah that probably another thing as well. Sony’s headphone always connects to my laptop first instead of my phone. Secondly the mic on the Sony is horrible as well being told that there’s an echo everytime I talk.

        • This is a big point for me and can't find much online. Does it connect to both iPhone and laptop simultaneously? Otherwise how does it know to switch between iPhone call and pc zoom meeting?

  • +9

I’m in an apple fanboy btw

    Oh boy

    • +3

      Umm…too much information.

    • Better than being an Apple fanboi.

      • -2

Better than being an Apple f***boi.

        Thanks OP, I grabbed 9000.

  • How does the after pay discount kick in

    • +1

Choose Afterpay at check out, then enter the discount code above.

      • So you have to pay with Afterpay?

        • +2

You can also pay with gift cards after choosing the Afterpay option up top.

          • +1

@Buy2Much: I’ll think I’ll skip. Don’t want to join after pay

            • +1

@activeight8: You can pay all by gift cards though (after ticking Afterpay).

  • +1

    Tempting

  • Still haven’t seen one of these in person and I live in cbd

    • You're not missing out on much.

They do the job of cancelling external noises, but it'll feel the same between different pairs - unless you're and audiophile.

    • +2

People probably don't want to get rolled for them

    • +1

I saw one on the tram. looks cool will grab one when its around $500

    • +7

I have a friend who is embarrassed to wear these in public. Bad reviews and the stupid price make you look like a bit of an idiot for buying them.

      • +3

Best to double down and use the "Smart Case" as well, holding it like a handbag. You gotta own that look.

    • +4

I commented back then about this but I got negged. Oh well.

    • I wonder if other headphones have similar issues, but it’s more prevalent with these because the covers are easily removable.

      • Plastic handles temperature differently compared to metal

    • -4

      Avoid…. if you’re poor.

      • +1

or if you have even an ounce of common sense

  • +3

Hard to resist at that price. I beat these are almost as good as BEATS!

    • +8

      That doesn't even make sense.

    • +4

      haha poor people amirite?

      • +3

wealthy people don't spend money on bad value!

      • +2

i only neg cause i dont like your posts

      • is a poor neg really a neg..? I mean who cares about the sorry peoples opinion.

    • +4

      Weird flex

    • +7

I think plenty of people can afford them… but still know they're not worth it.

    • +1

I wish I was part of this exclusive club where people refer to their earphones by acronyms

      • +2

…you really dont want to belong to that club

  • Wonder if these orders will get cancelled if there’s too many, or 1-3 month wait, since it’s pre-order?

  • +4

    nice Headphones but i think i'd rather pre-order a PS5

  • Had mine for just over 2 months now, best sounding wireless headphones with noise cancelling by far but it wasn’t such a high bar to clear anyways? Bose 700 and Sony XM4 are mediocre at best for sound quality but this headphone category is was never supposed to be for you to listen to music in the best quality possible.

AirPods Pro will suffice for me on the go where NC and wireless is required. Will return before my Costco 90 day return period is up and put the money towards a pair of CIEM.

    • +5

Don't tell us what CIEM means. We can look it up.

    • I mean, from what a lot of the audiophile community say, the actual sound quality is on par with a branded $150-$200 wired set (expected); though you’d be crazy to buy wireless headphones if you’re after audiophile levels of sound.

      • +3

I think though that’s exactly what the target market the APM are for; people who want the best sound from a wireless headphone with noise cancelling, price be dammed.

As for me, in situations where I need wireless and NC, I’m not thinking about audio quality and rather just trying to conveniently cancel out noise.

      • hmm, I own quite a few sets of headphones, both wired & wireless.

Honestly I'd put these comfortably above the sound quality of my cheaper wired headphones, they really do sound quite good especially if you go through the assistive options and set them up to your tastes.

Don't get me wrong, they are overpriced. But they are nice to use. The seamless switching between I devices, and the noise transparency mode / quality on phone calls, never needing to go into BT pairing, they are very nice. People tend to focus on the sound quality alone, but there's a lot more to them.

They don't sound as good as my big headphones, but they use a big chunky ass cable & a headphone amp - it's a PITA and I rarely use them because of it. But they are far from sounding bad / cheap.

  • +6

Is this a joke? Who in their right mind would pay nearly a grand for this?

    • +2

      Apple fanbois

    • +2

      Bargainwhore apparently

  • hahaha….classic apple

  • +2

Ozbargain is growing an expensive taste.

    • +3

…you must be too poor to afford these! /s /rollseyes

  • eBay Plus and AfterPay: I can only get to $791.12 using PLUSAY12 code. Is there something I'm missing e.g. is the

Titan Gear has 5% discount at check out on these Airpods

    over?

    Thank you.

    • +1

EBay must have done some weird programming today. Store discount disappears when you first enter afterpay code. Untick the discount code box, the store discount come back, then tick again. Both discounts should apply.

  • +2

Pretty crazy how well marketing can work to create what is basically a new product segment.

10 years ago all you ever saw was people walking around with the white ear phones in their ears that came free with your iPhone… Now apple have managed to ditch giving away free wired ear phones AND sell people ear phones priced from $200-700.

  • genuine questions, is that possible to wear / connect this to airplane plug? i.e. does it have a 3.5mm jack and (i presume) we need to buy an (expensive) cable? how does it work? thanks

    • If you refer to 3.5mm headphone jack, no this doesn't come with one.

    • +2

You need a bi-direction lightening to 3.5mm cable ($55 or $35 from Catch) or a BT transmitter that you can connect to the seat (also about $35).

      • $55 to convert to an audio standard, the 3.5mm headphone jack, that has been around since forever. apple youve done it again!

  • …And the discount codes are active again.
