  • Bought one since last month but nowhere to be seen yet 😒

    • +8

      Give it another 45 days.

  • +6

    Toblerouter.

    • +1

      Spray paint it brown? :)

      • +3

Nah imagine getting choc cravings every time you walked past it.

  • Ive had one for about 4 months now. Great router, heaps of bandwidth, long range.

    • This one only came out last month though?

      • My brother bought one a few months back from China. It is a good router and very reliable, easy to setup. The size is big.

        • +1

I thought the AX6000 only launched at the beginning of January 2021.

  • Sigh, if only 'mainstream' brand offerings were this cheap

    • +1

They are, if you live in China. ASUS RT-AX86U is less than $300 in China?

  • +1

    Needs more antennas.

Edit: Shows as cheaper for me. $158.17 with the 1m cable, plus $6.28 shipping = $164.45.

Edit 2: Oh, GST. In which case, it's more expensive that the title. Maybe because the option with no cable has sold out.

  • english firmware would be nice.

    • +2

Only the AX3600 currently has full English language support with the Global Version firmware.

  • +3

I have two of those meshed for a few months now. No problem no issue, very happy.
However, does not support VLAN tagging out of the box.

    • is it hard to configure with chinese language firmware.

      • +1

It is not difficult. There are videos on youtube showing how to switch it to English language or to configure the router.
You can check them out before making a purchase.

    • The ax3600 came out long ago, this ax6000 launched last month.

    • Is it possible to make it support vlan tagging?

      • +1

Not with all the methods I have tried.
Perhaps someone has found a way to do so by now or maybe newer firmware has made it possible, but doubt it though.

        • +1

I have an old router and I set it as a switch with VLAN tagging. Then I put it before this Xiaomi router and it can PPPoE normally without adding extra NAT.

          • +1

@FaultMaterial3322: Yeah, I read about this method. However, it is far easier for me to switch to a NBN provider that does not require VLAN tagging than to setup another device for a workaround.

      • Use a switch to perform VLAN 802.1q or swap ISP.

        • Home VLAN you Twix.
eg: This WiFi AP belongs to VLAN 10.

          • @raybies: We are not talking about putting an AP or IoT clients on VLAN 10.

We are talking about VLAN ID tagging required by certain ISPs. I'm looking at you TPG and iinet.

            • +1

@Twix: Oooouuhhh I forgot some people actually have LAN internet (FttP), so I was thinking can't be refering to VDSL modem bcos this is wifi router, so must mean internal VLAN.

  • +1

Noob here. Can I just replace my nbn router that came with my plan with this one?

    • +1

Not if you have FTTN, because this isn't a VDSL modem. You most likely should be able to if you have FTTP/B/C, but don't quote me on that.

      • Isn't a VDSL modem needed for FTTC?

        • Yes but you can't use your own modem with FTTC, only the one provided by NBN.

          • +1

@BROKENKEYBOARD: No. You don't have to. I'm using my old tp link vr400

            • @[Deactivated]: The DSL modem on your VR400 is disabled and only the router is functioning. NBN NCD takes over for the VDSL2 modem duties.

              • +1

@Twix: Yes. You and @BROKENKEYBOARD are right. I should have said router instead of modem in my first comment

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: If the phone line is plugged into that and you have internet it means you're on FTTN/FTTB, not FTTC. FTTC requires reverse power and normal modems won't do that.

      • FTTN & FTTB = VDSL2 modem/router AIO or VDSL2 modem + Xiaomi WiFi AX6000 Aiot Router.
FTTP & HFC = NBN NTD + Xiaomi WiFi AX6000 Aiot Router.
FTTC = NBN NCD + Xiaomi WiFi AX6000 Aiot Router.

Check that your ISP doesn't require the router to support VLAN 802.1q.

Only the AX3600 has a global version model.
The AX6000 is Chinese version only for now.

  • +1

Have the AX6000 and is working perfectly, amazing for the price.
Now have the AX3600 connected as a mesh router.

Xiaomi price for performance is crazy compared with other $$$ options available.

    • Is the UI in English?

      • No way to change the UI to English.
Just need to setup Google translate and you can work the whole thing out, it's not difficult.
I never flashed the English firmware on my AX3600 and won't be doing it even if available on the AX6000.

Just not needed, unless someone can tell me what I'm missing.

        • Thanks for the clarification.

  • How long would it take to arrive?

    • +1

      3-15 weeks.

  • +1

Bought one from jd.com a month ago, got delivered about 2 weeks. It’s very good wifi6 router, working great with my Vodafone NBN. Connecting 30+ devices, including computers, phones, smart devices, no issue at all. Cons: no usb port, Chinese 2-way plug, manual clock sync, no English UI. Also just ordered a tplink 2.5ge switch and adapters for my nas and pcs, hope they can improve my local network. :)

    • Bought one from jd.com a month ago

Cheaper prices than AliExpress and Taobao?

      Chinese 2-way plug

Most AE stores ship the AU converter. Or, you can just buy one from Bunnings.

      no English UI

I am pretty sure they will launch a global version soon with full English language support.

      • -1

jd.com deals most business inside China, Aliexpress deals most business outside China. Therefore, the UI for JD is most in Chinese.

        • Therefore, the UI for JD is most in Chinese.

Err… If you read carefully above, the comments are about the AX6000 router UI being in Chinese only.

  • Anyone know if you flash this with the international firmware when it’s released?
    Was the ax3600 able to?

    • There is an app you can download to change the language

  • bought one to upgrade from the nighthawke d7000. Thanks OP.
how long does it usually take for delivery ?

    • Ordered 12th Feb (friday) got it 25th Feb; to Canberra.

    • Ordered 21 Feb, received 15 march in SA

Excellent wifi coverage for 2 storey house.

  • Hey all, got my device in 2 weeks time to Canberra.
Miwifi app is in English and you can set it up using that. Blazing fast!!! Looks sexy. Very cheap. Really happy.
    Highly recommended.
I'm getting another for my Sydney apartment

  • Can this be wall mounted?

    • Not without one of those two sided tapes

      • The landlord would freak

        • -1

Shouldn't be wall mounting anything as a tenant anyway

    • That video is a WiFi speed test of Xiaomi 11 vs iPhone 12 Pro Max.
I want to see how it compares against the ASUS RT-AX88U when traversing across multiple brick walls.

      • Yep with an an AX6000 connected to them.
