Repco GV Tools 6 Drawer Chest/Trolley Combo $99 C&C Only @ Repco

310

I couldn't find anything similar around this price from a store (supercheap, bunnings, etc) so seems a good price for a chest and trolley combo

I have this. Not the best quality but does the job.

Worth about this much but not much more.

    • Yep me too. Best thing I did was drill holes in the back and bolt it to the wall. Makes the flimsy drawers a bit sturdier to pull out.

      I got it for $19.95 due to a pricing error, so $99 seems like a rip-off 😜
It's decent enough for sub $100 (awesome for sub $20 lol), and I totally recommend fixing it to the wall.

      • I picked up 2 with that pricing error. They are still working great after 6 years….

Ok quality for the price. It's small though. Probably useful for a home office or similar

Top drawers are about 225mm deep
Bottom drawers are about 275mm deep
Height is also a bit of an issue if you want to just put the internal plastic tray from a socket set in. Only about 40-50mm

Drawers also don't open all the way out.

Definitely try and see one in person rather than just buying a box I would say.

    • Top drawers are about 225mm shallow
And bottom drawers are about 275mm shallow.

      Seems quite tiny.

It is. Very hard to guage the size of a toolbox from a photos I've found as I'm in the market for a proper garage toolbox. Bought one of these and whilst it works, it's just tool small for me I think.

But depends what you're using it for really. Like I said, might be good for an office or as an example an artist to store paints or pencils or something like that.

Good for a small garage/ workshop as others said. I'm using it almost a year, kinda flimsy but I am happy for what I pay.

i dream about this, and i dream about my own garage, and i dream about my own home, and i dream and dream

    • My similar dreams have come true. Doesn't make me feel any better than when they hadn't.

  • Possible to place 2 on top of each other? Accessing the height is not an issue, but floor space is a premium. Doesn't need to be on wheels, so can remove the castors.

No, not really. Wouldn't stack nicely. I have two side by side

    • Top part is smaller than the bottom and fits inside an edge on the bottom piece. So definitely not stackable.

Also the top part has a tilting lid so you wouldn't be able to use the top section of the bottom one in the stack. You could probably stack two top ones together losing that section.

You might be able to put two bottom ones together if you adjust the edge.

Also with two complete units stacked, you wouldn't be able to see in the upper drawers as it would be about 2m high.

So for the most part I'd say no, you can't stack.

If you put them side by side, bolt them together to make them more rigid. Then both to the wall, makes a huge difference.

      • but then you can't roll them around

        • true story but I don't need that functionality. If you want one to roll around I would avoid this as I imagine it will topple over pretty easy

    • Yes possible to stack. First stack the 2 bases together then place the 2 tops on top.

      • +1

wont' be very stable because it has the raised edge that the chest is meant to sit inside.

  • thanks OP, got one.

  • Cheers OP - picking it up tomorrow.

  • There is nothing about its package weight. Need to know if I can pick it up by my self.

    • +1

      Yeah easy, it's pretty small

    • +1

Yeah they are not too heavy. One person could carry it

    • +2

just picked mine up, easy for one person. The box also has slits on the sides to put your hands in to pick it up.

  • I've had 4 or 5 of these for years. I MacGyvered some hand trolley wheels onto it and it goes over anything. I added rare earth magnets to the back of the drawers so they don't roll open in the car or when moving over rough terrain. I wired mine with 240V, a wireless mic and an audio mixer. I'm a magician and I have performed with these on stage for years They have done thousands of kms in my car. I have a pair, however I almost always only use one at a time now. If you want see what they look like, scroll through the album http://mistermike.com.au/festival-corporate-events/

  • thanks OP. Been keeping an eye out for something like this. Time to organise the toolbox.
