This watch pretty much owns the quartz diver style watch market in it's price range & well above. The only bad point is the lume isn't very strong but who cares for this price.

Looks rock solid for the price, have a friend looking for one so I reckon this is it for him

Can vouch for this. Was my very first watch and the one which started my collection many years ago. Still wear it around when I camp as it can take a beating, and being a quartz movement, is as accurate as you can get.

Also Bill Gates wears this watch haha

It was one of my 1st watches too, great watch for the price.

Don't you love it when billionaires wear reasonably priced watches.

      • +1

        Devil wears casio?

        • +9

          Thought the devil wears prada?

Good deal, I had the blue one and quite liked it but ultimately moved it on as I already have automatic divers in my collection which are very similar (Orient Mako II, Invicta Pro Diver etc).

My strong recommend is to get a 22mm NATO or metal bracelet with curved end links (can be had cheaply off Aliexpress) as the stock resin strap is truly nasty.

    • +3

My stock strap snapped, not while I was wearing it but when I went to take it out of a drawer.
      Weird.

Could I be annoying and get you to post an example of a strap you mean from Aliexpress?

        I recently bought this: https://m.aliexpress.com/item/4000606250694.html
Got them delivered in about 2-3 weeks, and it's absolutely crazy how good the quality of these is.

        • Thanks for the heads up on this one, it's going onto my SKX171.

          • @cushydeskjob: Did it come up to $23.87 including tax and delivery for you?

          • +1

@cushydeskjob: SKX171? Mate I really hope you know what you're doing :) and if they are compatible then you're getting a great bracelet.
It fits my Duro, but not my SRP779, as the curve of end links is different. AliExpress used to have steel bracelets for SRP77x but it seems all listings are oos now.

        • +1

Thanks for the link for the bracelet

    • I swapped a black nylon Seiko strap from an SNK and it suits the watch well. It's a very good quality unit for the money. They'd make a great daily beater.

  • +2

so tempting. I prefer a busier dial but for a work basher this would be fine.

Being a tradie, i can't wear a decent watch to work..

    Thx @Watchnerd. Keep 'em coming..

  • Thanks for the find, grabbed one for myself for everyday use

  • +1

Thanks OP, been waiting for a decent price on one of these. The new version without the marlin doesn't feel the same.

  • -2

Nice watch, but since having a smart watch not sure I could go back to analogue.

    • +2

looks like LG got u covered

      • +8

Personal opinion, but nothing beats the class of a good old analogue watch.

  • +2

Got one for the hell of it. Thanks mate

  • +1

    Got one. Thanks OP.

  • Had one of these for about a year. Dropped it once and the glass face shattered. I really like casio watches but this one did not last very long for me. The lume is also pretty bad, as already mentioned. YMMV but there appears to be very little shock protection with these, unlike their G-shocks. I did really like the look of it, however.

    • Most watches have a very high chance of damage if dropped. G-shocks are the exception because they're designed to withstand it, but they're a very particular style and digital in some way. For everything else - don't drop it.

    • Interested in selling the broken one?

    • @BigDave Interested in selling your broken one?

Thanks watchnerd. Ordered one for my partner who is tiny, but big watches look good on her. I've had one of these for 3 or 4 years. Oh, and it looks as though these still have the marlin symbol!

    • +2

Wow can't believe they've removed the marlin!!!

I might have to buy another one, if these actually have the marlin they will become collector items.

  • Hey WatchNerd - I'm looking for something really similar in pricing and style that I can use while out in the sea (kayaking!), but this is too big for my tiny wrists. I did a quick search but couldn't find any in this line that's smaller. Do you know any decent ones closer to 38mm - 40mm mark?

I used to have Invicta 8932OB somewhere but I can't seem to find it after couple of moves :(

    • +1

Did you see my now expired Invicta 8926OB post? That's 40mm.

      • Mate. Right after I typed my question - I had an almost movie like epiphany on exactly where I placed the watch and it was there when I opened an unmarked box. It's out of battery and needs a rubber strap so I can use it close to the water but I will take it as money saved!

Also I just watched how to remove the date magnifier on your link so I might go try that. Much appreciated as always :)

  • how was this compared to the last seiko solar deal. I was planning on wearing that as an everyday beat around, this seems like a more sensible option.

  • +1

Careful, this watch was a gateway drug for me getting into Seikos

  • -7

    Quartz, no thank you.
Holla at me when u got an automatic homie.

  • +1

was always keen on this but I think the price was above $100 earlier..thanks, got one OP

  • +1

Hey watch nerd, this is an excellent deal because the new Duro is going for $140 and only difference is no marlin but Pepsi or Batman bezel

  • +2

    Just bought one thanks op.
Can anyone recommend a good nato strap brand?

  • @WatchNerd

How do you feel door the Casio F91W?
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Casio-F91W-1-Classic-Resin-Digital…

    • Remember it’s a very small watch. Band is women or kid size.

      • I'm not a woman or a kid and had no problem with the band (I have a 17cm wrist).

        • Oh ok, there are several reviews on Amazon stating it is a small band:

"Casio always works very well, this one is for kids or women fits me just on last hole on band 😁 my mistake should have read specs but I'm happy"
"We hadn't expected this watch to be so small, to be honest."
"this is useless if like me you have a large wrist"
"This watch is good for a child. Have to use last hole on strap to fit my wrist"
"I had this watch before and this looks smaller than the one I had it’s more like for women Or teens but the quality is the same"

    • What more needs to be said about it? If you Google, there are about 100 articles about it being some sort of cult classic. Personally I think you get better models for a few dollars more, like the W213 (about $35 here) which has a countdown timer, 5 alarms, a slightly better 4-button UI, better water resistance, longer battery life, and much better illumination (the F91W has a rather weak side lamp that only lights up about half the face).

  • if you don't have prime this looks cheaper: https://www.amazon.com/Casio-MDV106-1AV-Analog-Watch-Black/d…

  • Would this watch work for surfing with?

    • Yes, it has 200m water resistance and a screw-down crown.

  • Anyone got a link to a genuine bracelet for this watch?

    • +3

I bought this watch a couple of years ago planning to give it to my son for xmas , when it arrived I liked it so much I had to get him something else instead.
Solid watch , I wear it camping , at this price why wouldnt you !

    • It's Bill Gates watch, wish it was smaller size. 44mm case is quite large

    • You legend, OP, exactly what I wanted!

    • Pulled the trigger on the previous deal for $71, nice find!

I'm waiting for mine still, and the silver strap i saw recommended in the other thread i have also picked up https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000606250694.html

    • Cheers OP, cancelled previous order just in time

    • Great price. Couldn't cancel my previous order. Wouldn't be surprised if the seller rejects the multiple requests that come through!

  • Up to $73 now…

    • Down to $68.95 now…

Thanks OP. Bought one and it has arrived :)
