    These are a good unit.
Picked mine up from the $120 something price error. so should have tried to get 2..

The smaller one has a V2 coming out, wonder how long for this unit..

    • I personally wouldn't be buying this unit for the bedroom due to the on board camera. So V2 with sleep tracking is redundant for me.

      • Out of interest why, are they easy to hack?

        • It's not about how easy it is, it's a binary question about whether it's possible.

@bboT: Hope you don’t use much tech then haha

      • Yeah me either, i realise you can turn the camera onto privacy mode, but prefer they put a manual slide cover.

good photo frame for Google photo libraries?

Awesome. You can choose the albums you want to display and it does it's thing. It displays portrait photos side by side to fill the screen (can be turned off). The side by sides are not random, rather there's logic built in. It regularly displays older and newer photos of the same person (or groups) side by side. Really cool seeing photos of mum and baby at 1 side by side with the more current. Also does siblings side by side as well. Neat feature. It's way way way better than the older non internet connected photo frames.

      Some other thoughts -
      - The screen quality is great. No issues with viewing angles. Also self adjusts brightness and colour temp to constantly so photos are always at their best. Neat that it turns off the screen when the room's dark.
      - It's great as a Music player (sound is absolutely acceptable but this ain't no Sonos or Bose ok :-) ). Also plays YouTube, Netflix, Displays search results on screen (with photos and click throughs), has mini games for the kids (rarely used past week 2), cool Google Assistant interaction for kids e.g.: ask Google what's the animal of the day plays the sounds, displays a photo, etc (used daily), also spellings and other facts are displayed on screen.
      - The hub can control Google TV, which is quite cool.
      - The Max has a camera (as pointed out), which can be used for video calls, and with other products e.g.: doorbell with video. Goes as far as identifying the person (based on named folks in Google photos)

Recommend the Hub for a desk because of the smaller screen size. It's a bit small for my taste when placed 3 to 4m away. The Hub Max is my next purchase (waiting for a deep discount :-) ).

    • Get the none max edition, if that all you want.

      • 3" more screen though

  • also, google store price matches GG.
I have had my Nest Hub Max replaced and Google Store RMA procedure is quite good.
I will only buy google products through their store.
Also, if you have A google One membership, you can get up to 10% off (in google credit)

    • They wont price match Good Guys ebay as its an Afterpay promotion involving a coupon.

      $299 - 20% off - 8% off via Swap GC = Around $220.xx !!
