I have to give these guys a good wrap, i rang up to have the annual fee waived for my 2nd year and got given a big "yeah nah" by a 14 year old who answered. Rang back (as a good Ozbargainer does) and got someone else who said "you know what, its Friday, im feeling generous".

Her name was Karen…..i told her Karen's everywhere should feel proud of this moment.

Good card, no issues with approval (unlike ANZ….ergh) and points came in on time.

Missed opportunity to ask to speak to Karen's manager (to provide positive feedback)

Going through an ANZ approval at the moment, seriously wtf is up with them? Missed one call from them and they keep spamming me with text messages to let them know when to call me back, which gets ignored and they call when they feel like it.

Actually spoke to two reps today, who both called asking for the same document, an hour apart.

Anyway, St George are fantastic, had issues with a chargeback a while ago, got escalated internally, had a call with someone and explained the situation and an hour later they called back to say they’d just give me the cash to settle it because there were so many issues. Was $1k, so not a tiny amount, was pretty happy. Only CC card I keep outside of point deals now.

      • ANZ has really gone downhill. Refinanced my mortgage with them and it was a shocking process. Same with their credit card application process. Even their internet banking is crap now. As soon as my fixed loan period is over, I'm running.

I got that credit card approved and received it a couple of weeks ago, but I am still waiting on them to get the internet banking actually running.

Terrible process, I’ll get my $500 gift card and bail.

I'd say the Citi deal is better with 90k points ($400 vouchers) + $100 Coles voucher.
Annual fee is $49 on that one.

  • So strategy for a non current customer looks like, sign up for new debit card, get $50, then sign up for this and get 100k points with no annual fee? If I’ve got that right, that’s about $500 net, which is pretty decent!

Currently churning cba and Suncorp but think I’ll get on this too!

    • The really annoying thing about St George is that if you have ever held a St George transaction account before, then you won't get the $50.

Easily, the most restrictive offer, compared to all the other banks.

      • I actually got the $50 a second time ( wasn't expecting it) closed my account a year earlier and had moved so maybe they didn't match me in the system

if you're saying that part is the "most restrictive " i don't think so, ING and Westpac have similar restrictions

      • They seem loose with monitoring how many times you get the $50, I got it 4 times and my partner got it 2 times, all within a few weeks of each other.

If you do open multiple accounts just be sure to send $2500 between your accounts once a month to avoid monthly account fee's.

    • free $50 expires tomorrow

      • Good point!! Thanks

    • curious if anyone knows if i sign up today for $50, get this CC next week, then cancel both in say 5 months, ill lose the $50? or doesnt matter

      • Doubt you’ll lose it .. it says credited within 45 days or so from memory, no requirement to maintain the account past that. What you suggested is exactly what I’m going to do

  • Also this one if you're collecting Velocity points
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/607023 ($99 annual fee, 100,000 velocity points)

  • Does it matter if you choose Amplify Platinum or Amplify Rewards?

    • yes

  • My partner is an existing customer but no active accounts so couldn't login. She then opened the transaction account link to her customer ID and able to access the deal.

But she got instant auto rejection after completing the application. Didnt even offer to upload payslips and there was no ping to the credit check. She's in a good credit score, stable high income job, little credit debt. Her situation has not change much since last year and had no problems when apply CC with ANZ or Citibank (2 notorious banks that Ozbargain community love to hate).

    • Has she followed up with the bank? Sometimes it's their systems that say no but can usually be overridden by contacting them and having it assessed by a human.

      • Nah, she didn't bother with them and went to apply for the Citibank instead. Got them approved without problem.

  • Don't suppose anyone has a rough idea for the income requirements for both this and the Signature card? I want more points but the Signature has a minimum credit limit of $15k which makes me feel I don't earn enough to qualify… don't want to take a credit hit to find out.

  • Anyone received the bonus points? I'm on my second statement and still no bonus points - completed the $3K spending in first month.

  • I cant see any T&Cs about 100k existing points

    • 100K is available for existing customers when you apply via the link in the app, in branch or call them up.

  • So strange, opened a bank account today and immediately applied for this CC. Got auto rejected… Never been rejected for a CC in my life

      See my comment above.

It could be their system detect you just opened an account with them and apply for this offer immediately?

I did the same (open the debit card) but wait out for a week before apply for credit card. Approved the day after submitted the payslips.

      • Damn shouldve read this thread in more detail before applying.. Wasted a credit check!
