  • I know these are illegal in nsw, but how much do they police it? I see these in north Sydney all the time but would be interested in using one across the bridge and through the cbd/Broadway area…

A scooter would be more convenient, but if it's likely to wind up in fines I may as well look toward an e-bike.

    • I ride past police in Melbourne all the time and they couldn't care less.

      • Same here. I live in Richmond and commute to CBD pretty much every day. For over 4 years now… No problems ever.

        • +4

Are you commuting from Richmond 2753 to the sydney CBD? lol
          He is asking for NSW

          • @IUisdabest: Richmond VIC dude, which is like 3km from cbd. Richmond NSW is 50km from cbd, which this scootie cannot even make it one way lol

      • If your motorised scooter:

is powered by a petrol motor
has an electric motor with a maximum power greater than 200 watts
has a maximum speed greater than 10 km/h
then it cannot be legally used on a road or any road related areas, including footpaths, share paths and public areas. The fine for an illegal device is $826. Other penalties may also apply.

        • So what are they converting all the streets in cbd and suburbs to bike lanes for? Bike can be much faster and more dangerous. This just shows the govt laziness and incompetency to legislate and simply virtually bans it.

Its just frustrating I respect this comment although, you get one douche in a bad mood and its 1.7k in fines… let alone demerit points if you hold a license…. Although this would make my commute amazing! I just justify the risk.

    • +2

I moved to the country about a year ago, but commuted on one of these to the CBD every day for 2 1/2 years.

Motorcycle cops love to book people on these, but anyone else you can forget about. I had one motorcycle cop follow me up King street and put his lights on, so I hung a left and went down Pitt Street the wrong way on the footpath. Cop was willing to follow for about 30m until he clipped someone and knocked them over.

Fines are nasty if they do get you though.

      Changed it, my mistake.

  • RIP

Just bought with Gearbite at $585. Worth a refund then this?

    • +2

If you got free shipping then the Gearbite deal is better. Kogan has $65 shipping (to Melbourne at least)

    • +3

For $26, I would say not worth the time and effort.

  • That is a good price. Paid $599 from this deal, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/611807?page=1#comment-1030….
    Havent received mine yet.

    • +1

That was 3 weeks ago, and still not delivered? That is a long time…. My order with Gearbite is being dispatched tomorrow.

  • The exact same scooter is listed here for $749 on Kogan. I'm wondering if this one is a grey import?

  • can you still use this as a kick scooter?

    • +1

      Yep, but it's heavy.

      • thank you, I was more wondering if in a pinch and ran flat, could still kick along.

        • +1

          Yep

      • +1

        Good leg workout

  • Delivery is not free to WA, have Kogan first.
Someone posted last night, would have pulled the trigger if it was free delivery.

  • wonder if they'll do one for 1S

    • Yes, they are doing one. 1S is currently on offer at $469.

      • +1

Expecting somewhere sub 400 much like the Afterpay deal before. I'll wait

        • You can wait. Your choice. Xiaomi products do drop in price, but then you lose the benefit of 'buy early, enjoy early'. Totally fine personal choice

      • This one is a direct import which makes me think that the Pro version might be too.

        • My observation is that this 1S is coming from the same shipment of PCByte/XiaomiAU's early next month, and this Pro2 is local stock they haven't sold.

How feasible is it, riding this to the train station, taking it on the train, carrying it through the station, possibly carrying along the CBD sidewalk about 10 minutes, and up the office lift?

Are there backpacks that help you carry them?

    • I see people carrying these on the train in Brisbane all the time. And yes you can get bags for them.

    • Quite a few of my workmates do that in Melbourne, they just manually carry it but it works

    • 14.2kg so it will improve your fitness carrying it.

  • +1

Meh, not worth. QLD shipping is $134.99. Goes to $693.99. With kogan first discount.

    • Yes, I thought shipping included, that would be worthy.
You might as well get a eglide g120 for $699 ot g60 forn$599 both shipping included at scootcity

    Price back up to $759

    • +1

      no its not?

      • I saw $759 they must’ve changed it back to $559

  • Will JB price match this?

    • Call them and find out??

      • I can not find the same model from the JB website and they only sell the AMG version…. Paid $65 shipping fee..to Melbourne Metro

        • I reckon they took it down just to avoid price matching this

  • +1

Delivery to WA cost $112. Not worth it imo

  • I tried but not accepting my MasterCard or any other card.
    It's not kogan Australia.
I emailed kogan, they said it's my card.
I've tried 3 other cards not working.
    It's BS.

    I need 2 scooters asap
