  • someone know which model this is? can you put a custom rom on the Telstra variant?

  • +1

I bought this phone day 1 for $999 (jb hi fi telstra deal), looking back now I think that was an absolute steal considering how well its held its value, and how good of a phone it is.

I still get around 7-8hrs battery with heavy use all day (youtube/spotify etc), and the fast charger means it goes from 20% to 85% in about half an hour each day.

  • Great phone mine still going strong!

  • Btw, I have s9+ Optus version, which is open to all networks, but when I tried to trade it in s21 in the last deal they refused and the error was because that my phone is locked

    • Had you removed all passwords and pins including screen lock?

  • Finally my 4year old note8 can retire now…Thanks op!

  • Thanks, couldn't resist.
Love the big screens and sick of the battery life on the Mi9T.

For those playing the case game, I have a thing for slim but protective cases and a low price and have used Spigen on my last few phones.

    Went with this one: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/333285226358

  • +3

    Can recommend 100%

Been using mine for a year and can't think of a single flaw. Multitasking, display, camera, battery life. Checks all of those boxes.

Only thing is its not "latest", if you care about that. Regardless, phones are so good nowadays that getting one thats a gen or two old is still great and also $$ smarter.

  • This plus a $150 per year prepaid plan with data, times two if you can use the phone for 2 years. And you've got a killer deal of 949/24 = $39.50/pm for 24 months.

  • does this have a usb c to 3.5mm adapter included?

    • No, but a genuine Samsung one is 19.95. Can probably buy generic one cheaper.

  • Which camera is better, this one or S21 5G?

  • Anyone seen a good deal for a case/screen protector?

    • See my post above for Spigen case, I like them for slim but good protection and cheap.

Samsung phones are amazing, my wife's Note 5 still gong strong! So tempted to get this one …

  • Thanks Op, bought for partner

  • Seems like e-sim. Could someone confirm please ?

I was planning to buy it as motherday present, but we're using Boost and they don't support esim ?

    • Note 10+ doesn't support esim (if I understood your question right)

      • +1

But a JBHifi sales checked their record using the online SKU, and it says esim, no dual sim.
So wonder anyone bought it can confirm if it has esim or not

        • +1

Maybe I'm not right, hopefully someone can confirm for you :)

        • hundred of us here say not esim.

    • +1

      Definitely not eSim.

It's usually a hybrid sim (ie. 2 slots that can either take 1 + 1 Sim card, or 1 Sim 1 SD card), however this is the Telstra variant which is only single sim + SD Card

      • Thanks.

WIll go back to a different store after work and ask to see the box then.

  • +5

Just purchased this an it is NOT dual sim.
Very disappointing given the amount of people that suggested this was earlier, please do not get caught out if you have a personal and work sim like me.

    • Yeah the Telstra branded one is a single sim for obvious reasons (of Telstra, not the consumer)

FOR EVERYONE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE FINGERPRINT SCANNER

Follow this video, it completely changes the phone for the better. I have had this phone since release day and the FP scanner is absolutely flawless and super quick.

You can combine the above with this as well to make the reader perform even faster

And for the influx of new users this deal will inevitably bring, have a read through this thread which lists a whole bunch of tips and tricks to improve the performance of the phone.

I've been using this phone since Day 1, and literally have access to both free and half-price flagship Samsung devices every release (I don't think of myself as biased but can understand if others do), yet I've had no reason to ditch my Note 10+, and am only going to replace it with the Fold 3 purely because I want to try out a folding phone for myself.

    • +3

Thanks so much for this, I will come back to this post when I get the phone.

    • +4

Have made changes to my Note10+ with the tips above, can confirm it is a huge improvement. Especially now I can use both my left and right thumb to unlock my phone on the one saved fingerprint!

    • +4

Okay wow - this made a HUGE difference to the speed and accuracy of the fingerprint reader. Thank you so much!

  • Can anyone tell my if Note 10+ can switch cameras while recording like S series?

  • This or wait for Pixel 6?

    • Well, Pixel 6 will be what? $400 more in the price?

  • +2

Cheapest so far, was usually $899-999 on sale

Actually, the cheapest was the $595 Telstra cancellation hack at JB Hi-Fi last December. I'm typing on mine now from that deal. In fact, they haven't even charged me for it yet, so it has cost me $0 so far, despite me calling them twice to ask when they're going to bill me for it.

    • how did u manage that free $0 fone?

    • +4

If you call them one more time asking when they're going to bill you I'm going to have to revoke your OzB license.

      • I KNOW RIGHT WUT THE HELL YOU DOIN MAN

      • I don't want to forget about it, then get a collections agency banging on my door 6 months down the track.

  • Is this still better than S20FE?

    • +1

I bought the S20FE yesterday and then bought this one today. Both are good for different reasons.

Plenty of videos on youtube to assist - I've stuck with this as it suits my needs better. Your use and requirements of 'good' or 'bad' may vary.

    This or the Poco F3?

    Currently using Note 9

    :p

  • Just got it for a mothers dsy present. Thanks.

Now looking for a nice wallet case which can hold card s and cash etc.

  • +1

So what's everyone getting as a case? Need ideas!

    • +2

Spiegen, link back on page 2

  • -3

Damn, if only it wasn't locked to Telstra.

    • +5

captain, you just got demoted to soldier

      • +2

They don't call me Captain Stooge for nothing.

    • +1

It isn't locked, it's just Telstra branded (ie. When you turn it on from complete off it will flash a Telstra logo once.)

As far as I'm aware the practice of carrier-locked phones has almost completely died out when it comes to flagships.

      • +1

I got this and the Telstra logo is no where to be seen with exception of Telstra App, which I merely uninstalled.

        • Oh even better then, guess they've stopped doing that as well.

  • How's the Exynos version 9825 battery life like?
Any real world experience like typical SOT.
Can't imagine lugging around a 6.8inch phablet with a poor battery life.

  • +2

I upgraded from a Note 10+ to a Galaxy S21+. TBH not massively different performance wise - was a great phone, way better than the S20 FE. It'll be fast for years. If you've only got 650 to spend I'd go for it.

    • How you compare the cameras? That's the decider for me

      • +1

Cameras are better on the S21, but honestly they were pretty decent on the Note. Not major importance to me.

  • +1

This or cancel my s20 FE 5G for $720?

    • 1+

  • -1

Exynos processor, trash but thanks for the post

    • Watched a comparison. Almost identical.

  • +1

Thanks, smashed my phone today out of rage

  • +1

Still not sold out. This must be the new LG +30, OzBargain's favourite phone.

    • +3

Looks like it just sold out…

    • +1

nah that thing was 399 for 4 years lol

  • +1

Would be all over it if it was dual sim
Will stick with my note 9 SD dual sim for now

    • Agreed. Love my Note 9's dual Sim. Will be a sad day when I'm forced to upgrade.

    • Oops! We can't find the page you're looking for.

      • Back again but with increased postage.

  • The deal is expired but manage to get one from JB hifi Broadway/Sydney. Some shops still have them, need to ring them.

    • Interesting…. I'm going to buy a case for the missus' new s21 so i will ask my local jb

I was planning to buy one for me

  • +1

Holy shit im not sure but i think i got an even better bargain that this deal!

I called Warringah Mall this morning got them to hold me one. Got there and the sales rep said "You wanted the Note 10+ 5G 512GB in the rainbow reflective mirror colour right?" And i was like uhhh idk how much is it again? Was $599, and it wasnt even Telstra branded!
Couldnt believe my ears and eyes!

    • You may be happy but the staff certainly will not, once the manager knew. So yeah, one happiness is others sadness.

  • Oh No……How did I Missed this?

  • Picked one up yesterday at Charlestown last one in their stock,I did the ring around and located, was also one left at Tuggerah.I used Egift cards, just under $630.

    • Thanks heaps for this - managed to get it at Tuggerah :D

    • Similar story. Phoned around locally and got last one at Glendale today. Feel very fortunate. The guy on the phone mentioned that Green Hills may have stock for anyone else looking. Worth a call.

  • My order status says shipped but I didn't receive any email confirmation with tracking?

    • Same for me, but you should receive it soon.

I just got mine, even though my order status is already shipped this morning . Now got 3 emails: 1 from JB Hifi and 2 from AusPost

  • So quick, mine has shipped.

    • Did you get tracking number?

      • Yeah, Aus Post email with tracking.
