    • can i ask what did you say to find out ?? did you literally just ask them what the hashrate was? or did you actually ask them what card you'd be receiving ?

      • +1

I asked if I was going to get an LHR or non-LHR card. I specifically said i don't want a LHR card as the resell value is lower and if I was I would cancel it as advertised I was expecting a non-LHR card.

  • Anyone had their shipping status updated? Mine's still on 'about to enter production'

    • Still the same, 'about to enter production'. Ordered on May 11th.

    • Just received an update… November 15…

      • I just got November 16!

      • what dates did you guys order ??

        • Ordered 7th May. My Estimated ship date was 19th June so thought it would be sent any day

          • @Wigles: i ordered 8th May but my shipping was 29th June …. mmmm

i wonder if Dell is even legally allowed to blow the dates out so long …. that's like 6 months after purchase ….

        • May 7 as well. Had been in communications with support over the weeks leading up. Told me only a few days ago that the shipping date would still be met. Overnight it reverted to the usual vague answers you get from first level support scripts.

        • Ordered mine on 9th of may. My shipping still shows 29th of June but going by these posts that seems incredibly unlikely/not true at all.

It seems once it gets to the shipping date, they then add on the extra time..which is terrible communication from them.

The problem though is clearly the 3080 cards. They have taken them down off their site and only offer the 3070 and 3090 variants. I dont know if we have any recourse at all….

      • Yeah just got that updated myself. They've already sent me out a screen, so I'm going to see what my options are to potentially cancel order and return screen. unfortunately they itemised the screen for like 798.58, which I wouldn't of paid for it, so worst case I'll try argue them down to market value at the time..

        • +1

I wouldn't pay more than 400. They dropped the ball here, not you

          • @PlagueistheCheap: In contact with support, current discussion seems to suggest that they are going to refund whole invoice and haven't mentioned return of screen. Just waiting for them to confirming a full refund will be given. If they do, I might just take the screen and run, and get a new PC down the track. Currently running a 2080 rig anyway.

            • @Testeagle: That's at least something. I'd be reluctant to sell it in the short term incase they ask in a week.

              • @PlagueistheCheap: They sent me an email just before, saying the have escalated my refund on screen and I can return it for the full purchase price as per invoice $798.58. I'm tempted to just return the screen and wait for PC haha

              • +1

@PlagueistheCheap: If they maintain my order on PC, that would mean I get the PC for $2,694.92 with 3 year warranty and the other bonuses (minus screen).

                • @Testeagle: That's a good price. If you sell the accessories it could make it a very sweet deal.

    • I havent received an update yet….so does that mean we will get a LHR card if its getting delivered november 15th? I was just about to drop $1500 on an alienware monitor….but guess theres no point if the PC aint arriving for a while…

      • Might not be what you are after but some people are selling these on gumtree and FB for not much markup. I saw just the system , no screen or accessories for 3100

  • I will never ever buy from Dell again, poor service and just outright scam. I just cancelled my order as I really can't be bothered waiting. Should of just gone with techfast.

    • Techfast is multiple month delays too

      • Is it 6 months though? And do they say 6 months upfront or do the bait and switch tactic that Dell does?

        • Also bait. Some people waited about 6 months previously. Check previous comments on deals. I personally was baited. Then it arrived DoA

          • @belongsinforums: Man that sucks. Seems there is no good option atm. I don't know whether to can mine or not. They haven't updated my shipping date but I assume it's a matter of time

            • @dmcneice: No rush to cancel. I'd secure an alternative first

              • @belongsinforums: im tempted to contact them and change to a non 3080 video card …

mmm wonder what sort of discount i'll get .. lol

                • @CereaL: The 3070 downgrade is $800/900 cheaper, Just remember it will be hard upgrading anything in future as alot of Dell proprietary

RTX3090 Upgrade is an additional $1218,

                  • @Geoff897: But if you change the card, you lose your cashback, which is about $200 in this case, I'd wait, the supply of 3080 shall getting better as well, most shops now have 3080 in stock, just at a very high price. Techfast also having stock coming July.

                • @CereaL: Yea i wouldn't mind changing for less delay

            • @dmcneice: If I lived in Melbourne, I'd go for the Budget PC deals that are popping up lately. I've searched in Brisbane but there's zero competition

          • @belongsinforums: I had delays on a 2080 deal with them, then 2 screens with issues as part of deal. They ended up upgrading the screen for free. So the overall deal was great value for money, but the overall experience wasn't great.

    • I just cancelled as well. Hopefully someone moves up in the queue! Prices are going to come down soon I think anyways.

      • I've been hearing that all year lol

  • Lodged an update request and was told that it's still June 26 shipment as planned. Not holding my breath though

    • What spec/colour did you order?

      • +1

Lunar light with a 3080 with monitor bundle

        • I called on Monday, same reply. I upgraded to 3 years warranty, as I am going to use this PC.

    • Yeah I got a similar response today. They said as my order was done via phone and not online they can expedite my order and expect it to be out to me in a month. They also said they'll keep me updated as a priority. This has been very different from contact with customer service via email. They basically said 15th Nov is ETA and if I want to cancel I'll only get the PC part of order refunded, so I'll end up paying like 800 for this screen which I could get for 400 to 500.

If another month rolls by, I'm gonna ask for a refund, and ask to return the screen with no restocking fee, as the issue is theirs, not mine. I asked them to expedite order, not send the screen out by itself as well.

    • how do you lodge an "update request"

      • I went to the order page, then called 1300 303 270

      • I went my order details screen via email and clicked the link to submit a question about my order. Got a reply one day later

  • Just cancelled my order today, ordered on 8th of May est.delivery on 14th of July, till now still not move into the production stage.

After ordering the package I did little research on improving thermal performance and accidentally found out for the current R12 model Dell still using Z490 chipset to run 11th gen intel and this causing a bit issue shows big under performance and even after 2 bios upgrade the issue still not fully resolved and ppl already bought the R12 found it is very difficult to get the support from Dell…

For a $3000+ gaming system, this just pathetic and after sacrificing all the flexibility and upgrade potential + all the cheap parts Dell chucked in the fancy case, Dell can't just simply make the system working properly as they advertised…

Even thought about get the package and just keep the 3080 and sell all the rest that might end up make the 3080 itself around 1400-1600 depends on how much you can get for the rest of the items in the package. and just realized this is too much hassle and hard to sell the unit without the 3080…

Anyway, just my experience for this one hope this will help…

    • Having a look at the reviews, 100 or so out of 700 or more reviews are 1 star. I'm probably gonna cancel my order. I didn't really need the extras, the only items of use is the screen and I've suggested to Dell I keep it, but with a partial refund to match current market price of like $499 meaning a refund of like $300 on it. (they sent it out early, so I've already used it, they have offered a full refund if I return it however).

      • Hi Testeagle, the monitor was one of the things that I didn't think was good about this deal being 1920x1080. Interested to know why you are keeping it and not getting a refund to buy a 1140p monitor? After using it, do you think 1080p @ 240hz is better/more achievable for gaming?

        • +1

I personally like the FPS it provides and the image is good (currently using with a rtx 2080). I'm also have a few PCs in my house, so I'd probably give it to my partner when I upgrade. I'm kind of hanging out for some of the newer/next gen screens to be released. I also can't be stuff packing it up and waiting around for a courier to collect it.

To the last point, you will maintain higher FPS on a 1080p rather than higher resolution, opinions differs, but personally I think a 240hz to 360hz screen for gaming if you're serious. That's my opinion after watching various comparisons and blind tests. I have been tempted to grab a AW2721D (also 240hz) for higher res and HDR tho.

1440p might be the sweet spot on 27" for image quality and performance though. You can definitely run at higher res than 1080p on a 3080 and have great performance.

If they let me keep it and just refund 300, I'll put that 300 towards a new PC or screen. And still have a nice 240hz screen to use and pass on in the interim. I think $499 is pretty reasonable for this screen, based on image quality, FPS and build quality. I'm already planning a beefier PC, with more RAM, a larger SSD, better motherboard etc (probably pick up a techfast deal).

        • +1

This is a pretty simplified comparison of cards https://era20tech.com/the-best-gpu-for-1080p-240hz/

But it does show the performance of a 3080 on a 240hz 1080p screen, which is showing cracking numbers on FPS.

There probably are better screens for this card, but I do have a few reasons for keeping.

          • @Testeagle: Thanks for sharing your views and reasons for keeping the monitor. I will look into this a little more and consider lower res with higher hz.

  • Just got an email stating the following:

We are experiencing a higher than expected demand and facing fulfillment delays for this product. The revised estimated date of delivery of your order will be mid-August.

Should you be willing to wait for your order, we will be processing an Alienware 510M Gaming Mouse free of cost once your Alienware system is delivered. The tentative timeline for the delivery of the mouse will be 2 to 3 weeks post-delivery of your order.

Bit funny the mouse is offered, considering we already get one with the system….

    • +1

      Bonus bonus mouse.

      • +1

The same gaming mouse is already included plus Dell always discount to $80 so it's probably worth max $50 to resell.

By the time these PC's are delivered Dell will have a lower offer and also 12th gen CPU's are due to release 2nd half of 2021.

        • depend on the time they deliver, but the market value of rtx 3080 is dropping, it you want to resell the graphic card, you need to considering this.

  • +1

Delivery just got changed to November. The nerve of dell…

  • What are people's honest thoughts on cancelling the order from a VALUE perspective.

I don't NEED the upgrade desperately, although itd be nice to have and I would use it.

I have been looking at some of the other prebuilts, or even building my own as some stock is back (although the video cards are still $2900 alone from these vendors).

So for someone who doesnt need it right now, am I better off from a value perspective, waiting another 6 weeks to get my system (and the bundle that goes with it), or cancelling and buying something else now (i'd have to order today due to tax purposes).

    • Well, as you have a current invoice who'd paid and and cancellation might be done after the new financial year, you're probably ok with that, if the Tax man doesn't know it was refunded either, you could potentially claim both at your own risk.

Price wise the whole package is nice. However, looking at some of the reviews on Dell, the R12s units are getting lots of 1 star rating (14% or so). Issues with RAM not running at the right levels. Blue screens, not loading up first go, concerns about heat.

Those concerns could be eased by going with another vendor and having a better idea of the actual components included. It might end up costing a little more, but it might be worth it in the long run. My rig was about the 3.5k market from Dell with a 23 year warranty. If I return it, I might be looking at something better for 3.5k to 4k (with a 3 year warranty), then a screen on top. I already have the rest of the items anyway.

FYI, I'm cancelling my order today, Originally they sent out the screen early, so they were going to refund only the PC or charge me restocking for screen. They agreed to a full refund if the screen is returned tho (they are paying for courier etc), after I complained about the whole process.

    • This is what I was considering off Techfast
      Intel Core i7 10700F | RTX 3080 8GB Gaming PC - EOFYS

      Monitor: None
      Headset: None
Warranty: 3 Year Return To Base Warranty

      $3,510.98

I went with no Windows, as keys are pretty cheap online. But you could definitely add that for $169 on their ad.

Deal says expired, but the code still works. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/633532

      • IM considering the Aftershock ASUS
        Ryzen 5 5600X | RTX 3080 which is $4600. Seems like a decentish deal.

        • Might have to take a look myself.

        • I don't mind the look of the Ryzen 7 5800X | RTX 3080 ($4790), has a better CPU, motherboard, the SDD looks to be better, 32gb ram. But now the price is creeping haha

          • @Testeagle: Yes, agreed. Sorry thats the one I meant, the 5800X. But yes price is creeping.

            • @dmcneice: If you spec'ed the Techfast out, you'd come in under that, some of the components wouldn't be as high end, but still a good rig. I did have delays and some issues with screens with them tho. I threw in Windows and 3 years warranty on the below.

Processor: Intel Core i7 10700KF Processor
Processor Cooling: 240mm All-In-One Liquid CPU Cooler
Case: MSI MPG Gungnir 111M [ATX] Case
Motherboard: Intel Z590 [ATX] Wi-Fi Motherboard
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 10GB Graphics Card
              Memory: 32GB [3200MHz] DDR4 RAM (2 x 16GB Modules)
Operating System SSD: 1TB M.2 [NVMe] Solid State Drive
              Additional Storage SSD: None
Hard Disk Drive: 2TB Hard Disk Drive
Power Supply: 850W 80 Plus Gold Power Supply
Operating System Activation: Microsoft Windows 10 Home Activation
              Networking: On-Board [Wired] Ethernet Port
              Keyboard: None
              Mouse: None
              Monitor: None
              Headset: None
Warranty: 3 Year Return To Base Warranty

              $3,848.00

You could bump up the RAM etc in this still and be under.

            • @dmcneice: Bpctech also has some decent rigs https://www.bpctech.com.au/catalogsearch/result/index/?cat=1…

I haven't dealt with them tho, just notice they had deals here occasionally. The MSI rigs kind of look ok, heaps of storage but the RAM is a lower level.

        • If the MSI rigs hold any interest, you might be able to get them on eBay with a discount code (MSI MEG Infinite X Gaming etc)

    • That’s not how it works for tax as it’s over $300, especially if you order on the last day of the financial year.

  • +2

I was offered the last or first RTX 3080Ti yesterday, That right Ti are coming out now.

"There is one NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3080 Ti 12GB GDDR6X that was just restocked yesterday."

    • Was that offered as a free upgrade? Or a charged one?

      • Is it an upgrade? No extra charge

        • Well it's an upgrade over a 3080, but yeah it's more an alternative or replacement. I'm tempted to take the offer up, if they offer it to me lol.

        • I had recently sent them an email knocking back their free mouse if I stayed with order and said it was insulting as one was already coming with PC, and I'm potentially losing business without the PC. I suggested they offer a SD upgrade and RAM upgrade, but after seeing your message, I asked about the 3080 Ti, saying other people had been offered it. Hopefully they come back and say they'll give me one of those. I'll stick with order if that's the case, the 3080 Ti builds seem to have faster shipping times, the following is on Dell website if you selected to upgrade to a 3080 Ti "Ships in 6–9 business days".

          • @Testeagle: how did you ask for it

            • @dmcneice: I just emailed the customer support person I was discussing a refund with.

              • @Testeagle: They were very helpful when I mentioned that the mouse was already in my order…

                They just said…

                Part ETA - August
                Shipping ETA - September/October.

When I asked for further clarification, they just repeated it again and again.

                • @dmcneice: Yeah I'm chatting to like 3 people.. 1 is terrible, 1 is decent but confusing the situation and the other is the sales rep.

                  • @Testeagle: Could you private message me the sales rep that helped you out?

I am not having much luck with Dell support, (could be because I am an NZ customer).

                    • @Tinyking: Sure, for the most part the sales rep hasn't been involved, although he promised to expedite my order and update on website (hasn't updated website)

                      • @Testeagle: Can you please PM me the sales rep that helped you out as well?

I got the mid-August email a few weeks ago.. and today received a further delay until Nov 25th.

Quite disappointed as my mates one shipped out today (ordered two days later than me).

                        • @ThatOneAsian: I just had mine updated to November 25th as well. When. I enquired it was MID august, then late September, now late November….

                          • @dmcneice: Appalling service..

I am considering building my own given that GPU prices are now dropping. Agent I spoke to couldn't even confirm if I was going to be getting LHR or not (mid-august batch).

Will try get in touch with another agent today and see what they can do..

                            • @ThatOneAsian: The customer service is terrible. I'm waiting a few days to see if they offer me a 3080 Ti or an SSD or RAM upgrade. If not, I'm cancelling mine.

                              • @Testeagle: I tried asking for a 3080 Ti, basically just repeated the line:

The parts for your system have no ETA
Your new shipping estimate is November 25

They repeated that after I asked twice.

Problem is I claim mine on tax, so they really screwed me over, especially if i cancel now. And there really is no suitable alternatives at this stage.

                              • @Testeagle: I know right.. disappointed after waiting short of two months. Deals are coming through for 3070s so perhaps another deal comes up shortly.

Mine shipped on the 2nd of July, was advised November. Strange, however tracking number is non existent

  • Just cancelled my order today, ordered in may told it will ship July now November (maybe)….

Will wait for gpu prices to drop and then build a system

  • Mine went from ETA in November to build complete and shipped

Thanks for the link, doesn’t find any results with m order number :(

  • No idea where my order is, was "shipped" 5th July…… order number tracks but its no where to be seen.

    • Using the db link I put above, if you can see any thing in shipment status history, then you are ok, just wait the whole system to arrive Australia, then you will get a star track tracking number.

      • Even one of my orders shipped on 09/07, still received a email from Dell, said that order will be delayed to August due to part shortage. So even shipped order doesnt guarrantee any thing.

I ended up changing my order due to delays. Dell offered me the ability to change my graphics card and to adjust the price.

    It arrived yesterday.

Originally paid $3012 for the R12 3080 (Note - I didn't order the bundle with the monitor - just the PC)
Switched to the 3060Ti and got a partial refund of 1655.

So ~$1350 for this PC with a 3060Ti is crazy good. I guess the changing of price difference between the graphics cards resulted in some weird accounting on the Dell side. I'm not going to complain.

Maybe worth talking to Dell about a graphics card swap if your order is still in limbo. They also offered a ~$1100 refund if I went with a 3070 or pay an additional ~$900 for a 3090.

    • I'm glad for you. I've tried to get them to offer an alternative on a few occasions. Each time they wouldn't budge.

Their responses are always the same:
"we apologise for the delay to November, which is out of our control due to global supply issues. If you are unable to wait, you are able to cancel your order and we will refund you completely".

      • Yeah I called up and got told to either wait or cancel.
The sales guy was quiet rude, hung up on me lol.

        • thats the kind of experience i had lol

    • I got offered a free mouse, then a different type of mouse.. and the last offer was $50 off .. like seriously wtf

I'm gonna push back again with the above offer

      • Yeah I got offered a $30 mouse, even though this bundle comes with 2 sets.

Hoping to downgrade the GPU and get the difference at this point, unfortunately no idea how to get them to do it, as AarronR managed to get the deal, but he cannot disclose how.

  • I ended up cancelling. The prices are coming down on 3080 rigs anyway and I can pick better components. Dell is also refunding me the full price for screen they sent out early, even though I had used it since early/mid May. They had a courier collect it the other day.

  • I found this kind of weird, no 3080s but there is a G5 with a 3080 on eBay.
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/304065087204 only 4, not worth the $3599 tho haha. And it just seems dodgy, with a low number of reviews on account and the other products offered.

    • dont think 500w will be enough for 3080, most possible a late addon 3080 card(come with 3 year warranty in description).
