Are all the controls on it in English or Chinese? All the images are showing Chinese. Might want to make a note of it in the description somewhere in either case.

      Hi TheContact,
All our stock are supplied from Xiaomi Australia and are Australian models. All our rice cooker will have English controls on them.

  • Do you run any promotion for the 5L?

    • Hey JCRALLYART,
At the moment we are only selling the one model which is the 3L

I have this and it's pretty good, just be aware you MUST use the cup they give you to measure out the rice, it's not a standard AU measurement, about 2/3 a cup 160ml instead of 250ml.

If you use aussie cups of rice it'll come out dry as. Took me a while to figure out what I was doing wrong.

just put in any amount of rice and fill water to the first knuckle of your index finger (~2.5cm) above the rice level.

      • I read this with Uncle Roger's voice :)

  • Can you use the rice cooker controls rather than the app to cook rice?

    • Hi 2nd2none,
Yes, you can cook rice without going through the APP.

    China’s latest warning: missiles
This concern coincides with a warning from Beijing’s mouthpiece, the Global Times, laying out what China should do if Australia joins the US in any action to protect Taiwan.

This includes the use of intercontinental ballistic missiles being launched against this country.

“The plan should include long-range strikes on the military facilities and relevant key facilities on Australian soil if it really sends its troops to China’s offshore areas and combats against the PLA (People’s Liberation Army),” the paper stated.

“China has a strong production capability, including producing additional long-range missiles with conventional warheads that target military objectives in Australia when the situation becomes highly tense.

    • You're not supposed to put your head in the rice cooker. An induction heat cooked brain is good to no one.

      Any deals on Ballistic Missiles?

      • US8 off with coupon JOYCE188. You just need to order several ballistic missiles plus the launch delivery vehicles AND then assemble yourself.

Can't guarantee it will launch very far though.

  • Does it need to be registered in the app before it can be used?

Thinking about getting it for my mum and just need to be able to turn it on and start using.

    • Hi Obake,
You are able to use the functions of the rice cooker with out pairing it to the APP.

  • Is someone able to clarify is it 1L of uncooked rice, so you end up with ~2L of cooked rice?

    • Hey SparkleWings,
You will be able to add up to 1L of raw rice to the unit to cook.

What are the benefits of this over the cheap one that I use? Is it quicker?

    • +1

It's actually significantly longer (about 1h cooking time) but the texture and the taste is simply sooo much better. Also, you don't touch it once you press start.

    • also have a “quick rice” function to about 30mins if you in hurry, the rice texture will be similar to normal cooker not as “fluffy” if you use this function

  • 10 cups = 2.5L, is this correct?

  • Possible to get $39 xiaomi Viomi smart kettle deal?

I know for the Chinese version that the app has the ability to scan rice barcodes. Does that function in Australia with common brands (ie Coles/Sun Rice)?

    • +1

App doesn't appear terribly useful. Can't even manually select rice type, let alone scan barcodes. The only thing you can do is adjust some ambiguous "tasty curve" slider, between different hardness levels. There is some chart the updates with it, but i have no idea what it actually means as the is no labelling on the chart.

This is with the app in Australia region and language on default.

      • Yeah okay, that's a bit crap compared to what I was expecting.

  • got one. thanks OP

    Is it Uncle Roger approved?

  • Can anyone confirm if this model is the pressure cooker version?

  • +1

We replaced our $15 cooker with the latest model from K-Mart that came with the luxury of an additional steamer. It set us back a whopping $13 !

  • Is this the "rice cooker 2"? Does anybody know the difference between the first and second generation/version?
