    Good price!

  • is this good enough for most games?

    • +6

Yeah fine to game on Medium - High on most games.

5600M is roughly equivalent to a 1660 Ti and that being a very competent laptop card. The advantage will swing based on what game is being played and if better optimised for NVid or AMD. 5600M would destroy a 1650 tho, and that's what you're going to find in most laptops sub $1,300.

I do remember reading threads about thermal throttling when this laptop first came tho…however don't quote me on that one.

      Source for comparison: https://techplanet.today/post/rx-5600m-vs-gtx-1660-ti-20-gam…

      I would buy this in a heart beat if I didn't already get a A15 with a 2060.

      • +2

As an owner of a g5 15, I can say it will throttle quite a bit. Good for value, not so much for thermals.

  • +1

That looks pretty good even though I really don't like Dell.

  • Click Frenzy is coming?
    Will it be cheaper?

    • -1

      Yes

    • +1

This is click frenzy or am i reading it wrong here?

Click Frenzy: Up to 40% off selected laptops. Ends Thursday, May 20, 2021. Conditions apply.

I need to buy my uncle a laptop. He mainly use it for email, little spreadsheet and washing videos.

I know this would be a killer but we are aiming to spend a little more to get him more support options.

Tempted to buy him this or should i wait for eofy sale or something. What do you guys recommend?

excellent find! The 5600m seems to be faster than 1660ti in most of the games. The only down side is probably the screen, 250 nits most likely means a 45% NTSC color, but for those who are only does gaming, the difference will be negligible. Probably the best bang for the buck laptop lately.

    • +1

Such a crappy screen tells you to buy a Lenovo Legion instead

      • I can agree I just got the HP omen 15 (2020) 4800h with 16Gb ram second hand and it only has a 45% NTSC colour. Bought it second hand for an amazingly good price but think I might have to get rid of it long term as well the screen.

But if I hold on it might go up in value who knows with this chip shortage.

        • you might be able to get an after market screen upgrade for ~$120…. if you think it's worth it.

  • this or the legion 5i @ $1599?

  • +2

Have they resolved build quality and thermal issues?
    Seems cheap for a reason?

    • +1

It's a budget gaming laptop, they're all plasticy and hot tbh

      • +1

This one is especially cheap feeling since it uses the G3's chasis.

  • -2

Its cheap because the specs are cheap. I wouldnt take a 5600m for $1200.

    • +1

The 5600m is in between a 1660ti mobile, and 2070 mobile.

  • Would this be good for non-gaming use such as spreadsheets, watching videos, some photo editing?

    • +1

      Yeah

      • +1

This deal or the inspirion 15 click frenzy deal here?
        https://deals.dell.com/en-au/productdetail/8t1q

        What would you guys recommend

        • This one :)

        • Honestly, for that kind of use case the inspiron might be better. Unless you're doing serious photo editing. The inspiron build quality is pretty nice, way better than this one

    • +1

No. You can get a pretty good Ultrabook for this price with a better screen and longer battery life.

      • Would you happen to have any links you could share?

        • -1

Huawei matebook. Search previous deals here using google

      • less powerful tho

    • +2

This CPU and GPU on this laptop would be overkill for those needs.

      • Yeah probably, but i want it to be decent for the future, so i’m looking at 16GB, GPU is probably overkill though yes

Am I the only one who thinks the new Acer Nitro 5 with 3060 & 5600h is a much better deal when it will be available here?

    • Idk. Looks abit chunky. Specs are crazy for the price though idk

When I see Acer I'm put off. Idk

    • Nitros in general are always better value. Still have one from 6 years ago still going strong.

  • +2

Not sure if I got unlucky, but I have one of these. It is awaiting collection by Dell for a refund, after 2 new Motherboards, new SSD and new RAM within 2 months.

Constant restarts (instant black) and boot issues and freezing issues I can't be bothered with it. Feels cheap, runs cheap and like it wouldn't last a long time. (After my last Asus lasted 9 years without an issue).

    • You didn't get unlucky, you got dell 😂😂😂

Dell consumer lines are well known to have poor to non-existent quality control, .. so it's rolling the dice, and extended warranty and patience required. This includes all the way up to XPS. If you want more consistent reliability from dell you have to go to the latitude line which are for business not consumer.

  • Got one of these in the last deal expecting it to run hot. Was worse than expected.

CPU at 90 degrees for mid-range gaming. At this rate will fry itself in a couple of years.

    • +1

Undervolt, and repaste cpu. Maybe also need a laptop cooler fan

  • I would say skip it. it's an expensive pizza oven 🍕

    • Shhhhh.. Sounds tasty. Only makes me want to buy it more! Mmmmm pizzzzzzaaa.

  • +2

I just had a looksee at these in JB , it did feel/look plasticky.

  • Whenz zen3

  • Don’t need a laptop, but code LOVEKEANU… someone is a big Keanu fan …

    • He's not my favorite actor, but as a human being, they don't come much better than Keanu. My sister in law works in the industry and he might be the only person in the whole industry that no one says anything negative about, ever. He's consistently kind and gracious to everyone he works with.

    Not enough nits

  • This or the Razer Blade i7 1660ti (if ever this goes back in stock)?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/621865

    • +3

IMO Razer Blade, the better screen and unibody metal construction are very nice upgrades.

  • Op the code doesn't work

    • +1

Yes didn’t work for me either

    • it was working when I posted the deal yesterday because I tested it, they must have deactivated it

      • +1

Code still active but doesn’t work for anymore for this product.

  • Anyone have any luck applying the code?
