Deepcool Assassin III Dual Tower 280W CPU Cooler $89 (Free Pickup) + Delivery @PLE

140

Very good price for this huge dual tower air cooler! The only lack thing might be no TR4 socket support. Arguably better than D15($150+), but a bit noisier under full load. Heavy block, better to get a support stand in some form to protect your motherboard :)
Check the cooler height clearance of your case! 165mm is minimum requirement.
Previous deal was ~$113 delivered.

  • Never heard of a deepcool before. Had to look this fan up.

Some good reviews, but for a normal consumer running <200W I'd say the noctua d15 is better as it runs quieter. Build quality is also likely better with noctua.

Not the same level of price here, mate. D15 is almost double the current price of this.
Personally I do not like normal Noctua brown/light brown colour scheme, and I'm not the only one. The black version of D15 is much more expensive.

For noise, if you do not need >200W cooling, you can either use fan curve control to lower the RPM < 1000 or use the low speed adapters coming with the pack, which lower the maximum fan speed to 1000 RPM.

Build quality should be pretty good as far as the reviews I saw. I own the Deepcool gamestorm Fryzen (a TR4/AM4 single tower single fan RGB cooler 6x6mm heatpipe 250W rated) and use that on my 3900X ITX build at the moment, quality is great.

You'd also be better off running an Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280. But since both of those options are $160 it's not exactly a fair comparison.

For $90 this is a good deal and it will perform well against anything else in this price range. The Scythe Fuma 2 at $100 is probably another option if noise is your primary concern. It will perform slightly worse but doesn't produce a lot of noise due to its limited max fan RPM.

Anyway Gamers Nexus did a video that includes all three here.

      • I've got a scythe fuma 2 on my 5800x using only a moderate fan curve and never see temps above 70 ever. Literally cannot hear it either at any level of curve.

Seriously what a useless generalising comment.

  • What is shipping cost on this? Web site doesn't display any without checking out which is kind of stupid.

    • At least on desktop site, you can choose the post code in the top right corner of the page. Then it will show the est. postage.
$11.38 to VIC address in my situation.

      • Thanks didn't see hat under the stores in the top right. $15.44 to Sydney.

  • I got one of these about a month ago (paid a bit more). Keeps my 3900x a few degrees cooler than the previous H110i AIO that I had installed. It's big. very big. You will need low profile memory and/or a big mofo of a case.

  • Been happy with mine for my 2700x. Over a year usage and never went past 67 degrees. At 89, definitely worth it's value especially if you're still using a wraith cooler.
