got 1 from the previous deal, no issue so far. great laptop.

    • +1

Agree. Battery life really good too

    • What's the maximum screen brightness?
I was thinking of grabbing an ipad or a galaxy tab s7 for media consumption.
But this looks like more bàng for your buck if it's good for media consumption (Netflix, YouTube, Instagram, etc)

        I believe it's only 250nits. But fine for me…

        • +1

          That's terrible

      • +3

Something iPad sized is much more comfy to use on the sofa / in bed IMO if all you're doing is super casual stuff.

    $828 is historical low?

    • Somewhere around that… Been out of stock for a while now…

  • can upgrade the SSD and/or does it have a spare empty slot for a second SSD?

    • +5

You can upgrade with a single sided M.2 2280, it comes with a 2240 and adapter. Only one slot and an SN550 in particular won't work (not in Windows, at least).

That said, with the 5000 series model having been around this price already, along with the 5000 series Acer convertible the other day, this is a lukewarm deal IMO. While those two 5000 series were just Zen 2 refresh, the extra threads and extra graphics power etc for the same price should not be overlooked. It's a good laptop, I like mine and would recommend it, but new models at the same price point are the better bargains.

  • This or the recent ASUS VivoBook Flip 14?

  • On the Q&A section of the product page on Amazon, people have mentioned that you could claim for warranty through Amazon AU,but, will they honor the one year warranty?

How is this compared with the Education Store deal?

    • IdeaPad S540 13" has full aluminum case vs full plastic
      4800U vs 4500U
2k screen vs 1080p touch screen

in general, S540 is a higher grade unless u need touchscreen.

  • 200 nits is a bargain! we are now up to Ryzen 9!

    • bargain or drawback?

  • This, or an lg gram or m1 macbook air for high school and university? Worth saving the $300?

    • Macbook Air if you know all the software you'll is on Mac Os

    • The Lenovo S540 is a better deal than any of those you mentioned unless your are running purely MacOs

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/625167

    • Personally I would stay away from LG, smaller the market share usually means the harder it is to get support/services when needed. If you want a Lenovo, S540 has better spec and build quality then this one, but that screen is non-touch.

  • My Android tablet has see 1 too many falls.
Reading through specs n sales blurb there is no definitive answer as to this being able to run Android apps n games of which I'm infested in.
Can you pls give me your real world experience pls.

I think you're confused dude, this isn't a Chromebook. It runs windows 10.

Great deal! I have one and have been happy with it. One issue though (that may bother some) is that the lid falls/closes quite easily for its '1 hand open' design. The unfortunate thing about this is if you're watching things in bed on an angle, it can quickly close on you since it's quite loose. Something to be aware of.

  • How does it compare to iPad Pro 12.9 for media/movie consumption?

    • Half the RAM, and non-touch

  • How does the warranty work for us imports?

  • Can anyone here comment on the writing on this? The touch functionality is important to me.

    • My came today. I think the pen that the laptop came with is great to write with, feels nice too. I think if you compare this to the inspirion, this laptop is the much better buy.

  • Does the USB C have the ability to charge and act as a display for 2 monitors using a docking station?

    • does not support display out / it isn't thunderbolt - that's what i've been reading across these posts and is holding my purchase

      • This was in the customer questions for the listing… Now I'm not sure!

Q:Has anyone tried usb c to display mode with any luck? How about with a dock/adapter?

        Answer this question
A: I bought the Dell 6000 dock which allows to charge the Lenovo Flex 5 while supporting up to 3 4K screens. Works well via USB-C. Only downside on that laptop is, that there is only an usb-c charger in the box despite it can be charged through a power jack which would free-up the only usb-c

        • so much clearer now!…

others will need to clarify but from lenovo:

          Ports
          1 x USB-C™ 3.1 Gen 1 (with USB Power Delivery)
          2 x USB 3.12 Gen 1 (1 x always-on)
          1 x HDMI™ 1.4b
1 x 4-in-1 media reader (MMC, SD, SDHC, SDXC)
          1 x Headphone / mic jack

  • It probably comes with a US plug for charging, right?

  • Down a few dollars to $901.46
