$100 Each for Referrer & Referee for Opening Orange Everyday + Savings Maximiser Accounts @ ING

1473

Looks like ING has upped their referrals back to $100, most likely targeted (as that's how it has been in the past).

Here's what it says in the email I received:

ING is Australia's most recommended bank.

So if you've got friends yet to discover ING's great value, send them our way and you could bank a $100 reward - each!

This is what is required (before the 31st of July):

  1. Go to ing.com.au/everyday, open a new Orange Everyday and enter the promo code in the promo box at the end of the online form - this part's really important otherwise neither of you will get your reward!

  2. Deposit $1,000+ (such as your pay) from an external account into your Orange Everyday account within any calendar month.

  3. Open a Savings Maximiser (if you don't already have one) and make a deposit into this account.

  4. Make 5+ settled (not pending) ING card purchases using your new Orange Everyday card within any calendar month.

When pming a user from the referral system, also ask/confirm with them that they have a targeted $100 code/link.

Do not solicit referrals in the comments below, that includes mentions that you received the email, we will remove these comments to be consistent/fair regardless of intent. Participate in the referral system and wait for the private message asking for a referral code/link.

    Thanks

  • I don't know how it will work with our referral system as not everyone would have the $100 referral code, mod please advise.

    • +3

I think mods should update the referral box to reiterate they need to ask potential referrers whether they actually received an email.

Keep in mind the terms and conditions state that if ING suspect we referred someone via OzBargain, ING may not even pay out the referral bonus:

If you use this offer in a manner that is not satisfactory to us or in line with the intent of the offer (such as sharing your referral code on the 'OzBargain' website or other similar websites, or advertising or marketing your referral code), we may refuse to pay the cash reward (including in respect of any or all referrals made in relation to the offer). This includes conduct on your part which is designed to undermine the fair and intended operation of the offer.

      • lol, ING hates OzBargain

    • +2

I think a mod should purge the current list, it would still have participants from previous promos (that have an expiry) and not everyone seem to get these.

      • Done now (see above).

  • +9

Finally worth signing the wife up to ING for $200 profit

  • +3

Can you refer multiple friends & receive $100 for each friend referred?

    • +1

      Yes

  • Where do I find my code to refer someone?

    • In the email you should have received from ING.

      • I never received one

        • You may not be targeted for this offer. The T&Cs on the email I received states:

The offer applies in respect of the original recipient of this email only.

There is a chance your email will come through later, so there is still hope!

  • nothing from me.
    it must be targeted

  • Almost everyone I know is an ING customer.

    • +4

Time to make new friends. LOL

  • Will they do credit check ?

    • +3

Why do they need credit check its a debit card. ING everyday account.

      • +2

I am not sure how it works that’s why asked thanks

    • +3

Credit checks are done when you are borrowing money.

    • No they will not do a crew check :D

  • so how to make sure the referrer we click has the $100 bonus. does the signup page says that?

    • you can only ask the referrer, there is no way to confirm.

      • Referrer can Upload screenshot of referral email to OzBargain files etc. Then supply link to confirm.

    • ask for screenshot of email.

  • -2

Be aware - They are a bunch of scums. In the past, they've refused to pay the referral.

    • Probably PEBKAC.

    • +2

probably because you got a dodgy referrer. They didn't receive the offer but still send you the referral code in the hope that they get the bonus.

Read back the comments on previous deal post.

    • I have had no issues. Got all 5 of mine last time I did it. In life, when I’ve read and followed up with the terms and conditions of everything I do, I super duper rarely encounter a problem like you have described and if I do, I follow it up and maybe 1-3 times in my whole life I haven’t been able to get it.

    • not targeted. last time got 50$ and used on wifu

took their sweet time to payout 1.5-2 months.

  • +1

Does the deposit in step 3 need to come from an external account or can it come from the $1000 deposited in step 2

    • +1

For anyone else wondering it seems you have to nominate one account during the application process. It can be either external or internal to ING but that's the only account you can use to transfer in/out

    • The system isn't allowing me to enter in my code. Only has a box to tick allowing PMs. Is that how it's being done now?

      • Yes, due to these terms from ING, the codes aren't made public so members don't find their referral credits denied:

        • +5

Ozb got another mention on a 3rd party business

  • Is there a limit on number of referrals for this $100 promo?

    • I don't think there is a limit. Nothing about a limit in the email from ING.

  • +2

I had an account but closed it sometime ago. What is the minimum window to be eligible?

    • following

  • +2

From T&C: If you have previously opened an Orange Everyday account at any point since 1 July 2014 (even if the account has now been closed), then you are ineligible for this offer.

Guess that rules out most people here

    • +1

2014? Wow that’s abit extreme lol

      • +2

they are watching ozb for sure they know we hit and run mobs…

    • +3

Last straw for me. ING use to be the best and I've stuck with it for almost a decade.

Loyalty doesn't pay. I'm cancelling mine.

      • +1

        And shit rates now

  • +2

I'm just reading the requirements from my email and it's such pretty tedious process for referee to do and you just hoping they will do it.

    • +4

Thats the new ING mantra, offer everything but make it so hard to redeem most people don't make it.

    • just 4 easy steps…. i guess 20mins.. plus tapping 5x in coles when buying a pack of chips split payment $0.05 x 5
      not bad for $100

      • +1

I do my 5 transactions at 5x $0.01 and then pay the rest on discounted gift cards. You're flushing away $0.20 that could be further discounted or earning CC points by doing 5c transactions.

Best return your Ozbargain card promptly.

    • They want people who actually uses the new accounts. I have referred 2 friends with the previous $50 referral and they didn’t even notice that they completed the steps until I checked.

  • It’s better to ask referrer to provide the email from ING.

  • +3

weird they are strict with ozb but on the email it has link to share on facebook and twitter.
    seriously?

weird they are strict with ozb but on the email it has link to share on facebook and twitter.‘’

It is weird, because I’m not entirely sure what they see as the fair and intended operation of the offer.

If we want to try and split hairs, I think ING wants us everyday people to share the code with other everyday people we are actually friends with, rather than random people on an Internet forum, as the referral program would otherwise be too costly.

I guess the people who follow you on Twitter (or are “friends” on Facebook) are more likely to actually know you in real life, so that’s probably why they encourage you to share on social media. However, that point falls apart if you were someone with a relatively high profile (e.g. if Nick Kyrgios shared his ING referral code on Twitter with his 400k+ followers, ING would love the free publicity and appreciate the possible uptick in business thanks to him, but would also want to get out of paying for any of his referrals, as it could become very costly very quickly.)

I don’t know, I think ING just wants to find a way to have a referral program that generates new customers, but then build in enough cavaets and pitfalls so that it won’t cost them too much if it gets “too successful”. It’s the behaviour you’d expect from Australia’s most recommended bank, right?

      • +1

lol yeah, "most recommended"…..10 years ago.
they simply want to appear generous.
not like they're the only bank or large organisation who adopts such a tactic though

    • +1

ha. i do 5x 1c. sometimes get weird stares from self-serve checkout attendants about the super long receipt that gets spat out.

      • +1

to make counting easier, i actually do 1c 2c 3c 4c 5c just for fun then pay the rest with other card

      • The self serve check out attendant knows whats up when she sees me there for an unusually long time tapping away $0.01 at a time. She even commented on how I'm not the only one.

  • Would be interesting if OBG could get organised with a gofundme account to earn someone a few hundred thousand for a medical procedure or a house rebuild or something.

  • Thank you mod for changing the referral function for this!

  • +3

They must be desperate now since the customer purge after they introduced the requirement to increase your balance every month to get the bonus interest rate.

  • How do one get a referral code as I have an ING account and have never received such email.

    • the ref code is on the email so well someone at ING hates you

      • Do you have to select accept marketing material or something?

  • Great bank in my opinion, they helped me a lot when I didn't get my products from AliExpress and other websites when they refused item not received case. And also very good customer service

  • Do I need to keep the $1000 in the account?

    • +2

Yes and no. You're not required to keep it in there. But if you want bonus interest and free withdrawals, you're required to grow your balance each month. So perhaps lower it to $1, then do the $1000 deposit and you can draw down $999 of the $1000 each month.

  • -1

do i qualify if i got an ing everyday account closed five years ago?

  • i hope they are actually handing out $100 this time. going by the past "targeted" credit card promo where people were later sent an "oops we made a mistake" then withdrew the offer.

    • +1

I referred 2 friends and got $100 last week ($50 each). My guess is when you are handing out referral to strangers on the internet, high chance is they may not be qualified or don’t bother complete the requirements.

  • Wish I could add my account to google pay without waiting for the debit card.

  • Every time I receive a referral code from ING, it is the same code each time going back years. I'd suspect you'd just get whatever the current promotional offer is on at the time of application.

  • +1

Gosh, this comes with a long list of criteria!

    • not really.

  • Long time ING member, no email :/

    • Maybe they think you are with them for a bit too long..

    • Same here.

    • Brand new (2 weeks) member who opened with the last 50$ referral got the email.

  • In my experience, ING hasn't honoured special deals

  • +1

I got the email but none of the referrals here have ever gotten me anything, not sure if ING are not awarding it or the referee didn’t go through with it

  • Well I applied with an ozb referral, so hopefully works. I’ll refer my wife too, anyone know how long it takes for a new customer to get a referral code?

    • +1

Opened mine May 2020 thru referaral and received the email today. Also got the $50 referal email months ago.

    • The boat has probably sailed for the current promotion.

  • +4

ING is Australia's most recommended bank.

Was. Not anyone with their pathetic products.

Good bonus. Get your money and then get out.

    • +3

ING is still the best card for travelling because of oversea ATM fee reimbursement… since noone travel now so it is no use for now.

      • -1

I disagree. For travel, you can use Citibank Plus and don't have to meet the ridiculous monthly deposit and 5 transactions requirements.

        • +2

ING's ATM fee reimbursement is more useful as it allows you to effectively use ANY ATM fee free whereas its only free at certain ATM with Citibank Plus

  • -2

They refuse to pay the referral. Just read the terms at least two time. Even if you missed to do one small thing mentioned, they will never pay you. Customer support is soo much into saving that $100 than providing the support.

  • Does anyone know if the amount of the deposit in a Savings Maximiser mentioned in step 3 must be $1000 or just any amount e.g. $1 ? Thank you

    • +1

Should be any but once you do step 2, then open maximiser, just transfer that $1000. Then take it out - nothing say you cant.

      • Do I need to leave the $1000 in the saving maximiser or everyday for the entire month?

        • +1

nothing mentioned you need to keep so you dont need to

  • +1

It says the 5 transactions exclude ATM withdrawals, balance enquires and eftpos

    Isnt eftpos everything?

So you can ONLY make 5 online purchases?

    • +3

No. The Eftpos network is separate to the Visa/Mastercard network. When you select Savings when paying, that's using the Eftpos network to process the payment, Credit is using Visa. When you tap, it could be either depending on how the merchant configures it (But it usually defaults to credit). For things like Google/Samsung/Apple pay I believe it depends on the bank but I think ING uses credit for these too.

      • thanks for the clarification!

        • So to satisfy Step 4, we could either:
          - when paying using physical card for larger transactions, select Credit.
          - when tapping using physical card for smaller transactions, it usually defaults to Credit.
          - when using Google/Samsung/Apple pay, it’s likely Credit.

Would be great if anyone can confirm the above, especially for the 2nd or 3rd points.

          Many thanks!

    • Correct me if I am wrong, it says "… not including ATM withdrawal, balance enquiries….. and EFTPOS cash out only transactions" which means normal EFTPOS payments at the terminal is fine.

Also found these in the Terms and Conditions:

^Card purchases includes in store credit or EFTPOS purchases, online purchases, regular card payments, payWave, Apple Pay, and Google Pay transactions made with an Orange Everyday Visa card, Orange One Low Rate or Orange One Rewards Platinum Visa card or Nil Interest Visa card provided with an eligible ING home loan. When using the phrase 'settled' card purchases in a calendar month, we mean that the purchases made on your card must be fully processed by the end of the last day of that month. Card purchases made in store or online this current calendar month which are at a 'pending status' and do not settle until the next calendar month do not count towards the 5 card purchases needed this current calendar month.

      • Got the bonuses already.

used the card for 5 coffees tapping it.

  • +1

I didn’t get required to provide my id when I signed up. Is it normal? I’ve never banked with ING before.

    • +1

      They may ask afterwards.

I signed up years ago and had recently been asked to do some KYC.

      • Thanks!
