$4000! PC prices are becoming nuts.

    • +6

Did you see how much the cards were?

      $3000+

some retailers had a generic brand card for $1999 but these are being sold via lottery only or being used in pre builds.

    • My credit card company will reject this transaction - insufficient monthly credit remaining.

Hoping Luke can come through with a better price than this.

    • +2

      he's our only hope.

the top end cards used to be around 1.5k 10 years ago…

there wasn't as much free money 10 years ago

I got a $900 cheque from Mr Rudd back in 2009. Close enough.

        • People were getting cheque for $1500/fortnight recently so I think we still won

      • +1

There was actually far more value to the dollar, hence why people then could pay off a couple of houses before they retire and people now spend 10 years just trying to get together a deposit.

Maybe the division of wealth has also changed a bit.

    • +1

I remember I ved paid 1k for my 1080ti evga ftw3 like 4 yrs ago

I dun know why u said 10 yrs ago

    • Last November I got a RTX 3080 for a customer for $1350 and thought they were crazy expensive compared to old GPUs although it's the only realistic upgrade from my GTX 1080. Don't feel the RTX 3070 is big enough of a jump. I was looking at the card in January and debating to purchase for myself but the card had gone up ~$60 to $1410 or so I decided to hold off waiting for a price drop. Now they are going for over 2k….

      • +1

I got my 3090 / 5900x build from Tech fast for 4.5k ish? People were telling me off saying it was too much etc… and the 3090 wasn't good for gaming.

Given the MSRP for one is now 4k, i think I made the wise choice.

  • +2

Luke any 3070 or 3080 system deals coming in the next week or so?

    • +2

      Legit still cant get them
Doubt prices will drop when there are people still waiting for them

    • This deal is not posted by Luke so unclear whether he will respond…

    • +1

The recent KrakenPower BiFrost from BPC is decently priced for the specs

      • I read this first as KarenPower!

KarenPower PC: I'd like to speak with the administrator

    • +1

Why would NVIDIA make 3070 or 3080 and sell for cheap when they can reskin them and sell for double as with ti variants
Yet again NVIDIA has made an ass out of its customers but they will still gladly pay for it

  • +50

This doesn't look kind a deal. Ozbargain isn't for advertisements. Come back when you've got a deal.

    • Given the current market price for 3080ti above $3000, it is cheaper than build your own. It is all depend how much you value the 3080ti. For myself, I'd rather have a $1500 rtx3070, because I playing on 1440P, and their hash rate are almost same if you want to mine etherum.

      • +19

That's the wrong way to look at it. MSRP is $1920. Just because retailers are being shitty, doesn't mean a sub $3000 card is a bargain.

It's really dangerous financially speaking to forget that. When things calm down, these will no longer be valued so much, and people are going to lose a lot of money.

Do not forget that this is good for retailers, bad for consumers.

        • +2

I don't see these being under 2k for about 1 year 6 months.

          • +1

@Vialz: exactly,…. why would they - they've seen the pre-order battles (people waiting 6-7 months!!!!) and desperation of people to get their hands on em

        • The issue is they really haven't been going down- I bought a GTX 1060 a few years back for around $250 new, it still costs more today used!(looking at eBay, gumtree, etc).

          • +1

@ChristopherJack: I sold my 1060 6gb recently for $499 second hand. It cost me $360 brand new almost 2.5 years ago. Everyone has collectively lost their minds…

            • +2

@Dontreadthis: Damn! I still have a GTX1060 brand new and un-opened, had resigned myself to it been a purchase i'd never use ……. Think I might have it see what I can get for it on Ebay.

        • Just like the idiots that both 2080ti? Then panic sold them for 600….lol

    • +3

I kinda tend to agree, this is disproportionate.
We're over-evaluating those GPUs and before we know it Nvidia gonna come up with something thrice as strong for half the price.

Atleast if this deal had a fancier CPU I could've been onboard , but this is just blah.

      • before we know it Nvidia gonna come up with something thrice as strong
        Agree

        for half the price.
        wont happen

      • But then the market octuples the price.

      • There is 6800 xt which beats 3080 and now with amd dlss releasing in June it's happy days for smart team red ppl

        • Yeah, the 6900 xt is even better relative to the 3090, the issue is AMD struggles with raytracing effects.

FidelityFX is also rather limited- it's mostly just dynamic resolution, reducing your pixels, then some basic upscaling, it's blurry & noticeable.

Nvidia's DLSS on the other hand is hardware-based & while the fundamental is the same, dynamically reducing your resolution to save FPS then upscaling, the difference is that the hardware allows it to better restructure the original image- potentially being indistinguishable from the full resolution picture.

We'll see how it develops over time, it may end up just like freesync vs gsync where it doesn't really matter so long as the monitor is half decent & supports the correct frame sync tech.

        • Must be dreaming, software upscaling is trash

          • @ln28909: Will have to wait and see, they already have software upscaling so why would they release same crap again, I have a feel this will be a little worse then dlss but it can still be good enough , just depends how close it is to it

            • @botchie: I can tell you for certain, software upscaling is terrible, no matter how much you optimised, it's still gonna look bad

If you just look at upscaling a still image, software upscaling really doesn't do anything to change its quality, and it isn't very fast, now for gaming, you have to do it in real time sometimes above 100 fps, it is just simply not possible

    • Agree but nothing is close to RRP at all these days.

  • +2

And for the small price of your soul you can have a PC that opens calculator faster than anything on the planet….except a physical calculator 🤔

  • @abuch47 How much to upgrade to a mobo with 2.5GbE LAN port?

    • ask luketechfast but I'd say you would have to purchase separately and then swap over or build it completely yourself.

      • -1

Okie dokes. How about shipping times? Is it the usual 10-14 biz days?

        • in the links…

          • @abuch47: Didn’t dig deep enough before asking, soz.

So 14-21 business days +/- covid randomiser.

            • @sickaunt: pray to RNG luketechfast as its a PITA. still some people havent received preorder 3080s from launch

  • +1

Wait for the ozbargain coupon version…

  • I was one of the fabled lucky ones who got a 3080 on launch (at normal prices!) They've gone totally nuts since then!

    • Yea me too. Launch price 3080. It's like I won the lottery lol.
Although as life has taken over I now have a mega PC and Simulator + VR setup I rarely use.
All that money spent now I'm looking to sell. What a clustercloud.

    • Which ones and what prices?

    • -1

You realise that whether you're lying or not, you're human garbage right?

This is just driving traffic to that BPC Tech system.

      Do you mean OzRipOff?

    • +1

      OZAboveRRP

  • +2

This is just sad. Graphics cards do not belong in OzBargain at the moment. I hope more people should hang on to their current gaming PC for as long as possible, so the gaming PC business will collapse, teach those graphics card manufacturer a lesson not to sell the bulk of cards to cryptominers. Or maybe we should start robbing/stealing those cards from those cryptominers? Hmmm…

    • +2

it may come as a shock to you but they dont care who they sell to as long as they sell…. people buying 10 at a time, they'd be dancing in the streets.

  • +3

3080 Ti, No more ETH mining.

    • +2

So it should be cheaper than 3060, right? :)

      • +2

Not when lol are dumb to pay this much for a card , I don't get why not just buy Xbox, such a bargain

  • What can I do with this 4k machine???

    • Watch 4k videos. From various sources. ;)

available for pre-oder as they sold out.
So this makes the rest of the components worth $2000?

  • I feel the silicon shortage is at the tail end. Look at the US with almost 65% vaxxed. Supply chains returning to normal. Max mineable BTC sitting at around $28 mill per day, reducing incentives for scalping. Just saying..

    • I didn't know usa make chips

      • They don't, yet. But they buy them and that's easing off.

        • +1

So how does the US buying “chips” and the US having 65% vaccinations improve IC supply chains operating mostly abroad?

The shortage, as I understand it, is from companies under then over ordering IC’s due to COVID and throwing things out of wack for the producers

          • @[Deactivated]: It's the nature of our global just in time supply chain. What goes up must come down. Just look at history

  • From every independent reviewer online , 3080Ti is an absolute waste of money for the tiny tiny extra performance boost!!!
Go for it if you wanna throw away some good cash…..

    • +2

Every card is a waste of money in the current market. Unless you got it for RRP.

Probs gonna buy a Nintendo Switch pro instead of a gpu to kill my time this Christmas Holiday.

  • +1

Can we request deal with good desktop system without GPU ? Good CPU/MB/POWER/CASE.
With all these overpriced GPU market, I'm sure there will be demand haha, existing ones from techfast are all expired.

    • Good luck there, I've been waiting almost a year for such a deal (with AMD) as I'm just too busy to build my own system atm. Even just a mid to high-mid range would do me as I'm just replacing my old back-up system.

As of last night I've given up and am now browsing thru AU parts picker.

  • Lord, save us.
