  • Also available as 2500 points and $258 for those that don't have many points which is excellent value if you require the 4g version

  • not sure about the 4g version, but the wifi version is often on sale for $250-300

    • it is the 4G version

  • Is it worth buying , I have 50000 points.

    • +1

Depends on your standards and what you want from it.
It had a good screen and speakers for the price, so it's great for video streaming.
But samsung has done a good job breaking its knee caps with the low RAM and slow storage so it feels like a budget tablet whenever you try to load things up.
Nothing better for the price unless you go chinese though.

      • I have a 4k Samsung series 8 tv from 5 years ago. It included 4gb of storage. Basically makes the smart function unusable so I just use a Chromecast. I can't believe how their accountants cheaped out on this for a high tier model. Just embarassing how they scraped pennies.

    Good deal I had 70k points + $59 I'm ok with that

    • Thanks

  • Thanks OP. I had 75k points + $44. Good deal.

  • Is this good for watching 4k movies without buffering issues… asking for a friend.

    • It's only a 1080ish display. I cant for the life of me get it to load 4k youtube, even with youtube vanced.
maxes out at 1080p in netflix too.

      • Thanks. It's more that I … er my friend had a Lenovo M10 FHD and that couldn't handle buffering of 4k videos running from a NAS. The videos stuttered and I don't have the option of scaling lower. It wasn't a connection issue as the same issue occurred when video was downloaded onto device.

It'll depend on how it's encoded.
No hope at all if its HEVC. It can do all of the the 1080p hevc files i've tried so far, 10-bit included, but not 4k.
Its fine with an h.264 4k youtube download i've got, but it can't handle the 120mbps h.264 4k jellyfish file.
Overall, wouldn't recommend for 4k, you'd likely need somehting fairly high end to be sure everything would work.

  • Thanks for the heads up. 35,000 points for me and $164. Very happy with that!

    • I used 50000 points and $121

  • With 15,000pts + $222, is this worth it?

    • Will you use it?

      • +1

No, I'm won't be using it but I give it to my Mom.

Good enough for her to YT and play pokies.

        • +1

          it's worth it…anything for your mum…

      • Good question although I’m planning to give it to my Dad who will use it for Youtube and some light games.

theres also this deal, $264 delivered if you have a Telstra account, I bought one outright with no plan attached.

Grey 32GB configuration is not in stock

      • +1

oh really, I just bought one 2 days ago and just had it delivered today

  • Great kids tablet, 4g not very useful considering you can just hotspot your phone and get 5g , but still this price is good

    • Handy for those great freebie/cheapie Sims that are often offered here on OZB that incl Data. I grabbed from Telstra store for $264 last week. EVen better is out on the street and making a phone call from it and holding it to ones ear. Looks ridiculous but that's the fun part :-)

NOTE: Kayo often stutters on the Tablet and apparently a know issue (waiting for software updated or the likes I believe). Netflix and others work fine. Decent tablet for the price.

  • Grabbed one, gonna mount it to the back of the toilet door so i can watch sports and s**t.

    • Literally

    • You know shit isn't censored, right?

  • Thanks op , couldn’t get it last for outright as I was getting error . Went through this time.

  • tel$tra plus points are such a rip

    • It’s $3 per 1000 points. But you earn 15 points per $1 spent.

Compare that to other points system where you only make 1-3 points per $1 spent and you get a return of $5 per 1000 points.

Do the math and you will find that Telstra points value is pretty good.

  • $150

Back up to normal price? Seemed to switch as I was about to purchase :(

  • oh damn I missed it!

  • Ordered just before the offer closed and I just got the following text message from Telstra:

Hi xxxx, your reward xxxxx is proving popular. We're working hard to get more stock and will update you soon. Thanks for your patience.

    • Same. Sounds like no stock.

    • Got the same message today.

    • I received this message as well, will post up what their solution is when I find out.

    • If you check the Telstra site, they have the Galaxy Tab A7 showing as in stock again (It was showing as out of stock at the time that this deal was posted):

      https://www.telstra.com.au/tablets/tablets-on-a-plan/samsung…

Might be worth taking a screenshot showing that they're back in stock in case Telstra tries to weasel out of this deal.

  • Haven’t heard anything after ordering except for the invoice number, is it the same with others ?

  • Mine was just delivered despite receiving the message that they were having trouble finding stock.

  • Mine also has been delivered this morning - and got the same message.

    • Just got an email from Telstra saying my parcel has now been dispatched…? lol Nice one Telstra.

  • Mine arrived. That was a great deal from Telstra

    • +1

Yeah as was the one I grabbed for outright purchase of $264 delivered. Decent price.

      • Never thought I would use the points. I spotted this post by FootooMootoo and got in just before it expired.
