  • Is the RAM on this laptop user replaceable?

  • Does it have thunderbolt? if it does this laptop is useless to me.

    • why u dont want thunderbolt?

      • I meant to say "if it "Doesn't this laptop is useless to me."

    • +1

no AMD laptops from Lenovo have TB.

Honestly people asking about Thunderbolt, do you know that Intel charges fees and royalties for Thunderbolt 4. Companies don't want to pay those fees, hence its not on AMD laptop. You will only really see Thunderbolt 4 on Intel laptops because they waive those charges to manufacturers. Unfortunately Intel doesn't make the most powerful x86 CPU''s at the moment, AMD does. Thunderbolt also lacks significant market penetration in the x86 space and is viewed as non essential. You will only most likely see Thunderbolt 3, via USB 4 integration and being royalties free in non Intel devices.

  • How fast is this laptop 3060 vs a desktop version vs desktop 3060ti

  • This is such an excellent piece of kit. I have the 1660ti 2020 model and it is brilliant. Good build quality, customizable internals, muted exterior, even mildly useful manufacturer software (the last one shocked me totally, as HP's Omen software is pretty terrible).

  • Would this handle LR/PS and Resolve (working with 1080p-2k only files) ok? I'm in need of an upgrade computer for photography, don't want to spend too much but I'd value the screen I think and to be able to tether to the camera for onsite stuff (rather than choose a desktop).

  • Just bought one!
Any idea of how long (ebay says: "You should get it by 22 Jul" - but hey, it's plague times), any experience on wait time &/or tips on getting sooner?

    • I bought one on the 15th (day before you)….
and just hearing the lockdown announcements on the TV (saturday), hopefully I get it next week

      • I bought Fri 16th, shipped DHL, arrived on Sunday 18th!
        It's a solid, nice unit :) .
Some quirks with not recognising full 3060 memory I'm just looking to figure out . . .

        • very lucky to get yours in 2 days… im still bloody waiting for mine…
Contacting them on the phone is a giant pain in the a__

          • @Dannn: finally got answers after 2 days of ringing….. after they said the laptop is going to leave their warehouse yesterday, I have been lied to and finally today they said its coming from overseas. What a f__king joke…..
            Asked for a refund….never again

            • @Dannn: Did you customise your order?

              • @CodeXD: No I did not, it was through ebay store (as per deal coupon), so you cant customise anything.

The last few days have been hell with Lenovo on the phone!!!
As you can see with "nessism" other peoples experience has been positive, but mine has been very negative.

They even admitted on email that they had given me false information on the phone, when I called them out on it.
                I am currently getting a refund… what a joke

                • @Dannn: Sorry to hear that, seems like I was lucky to get last of oz stock - seems they oversold what they had.

It's worth the wait though, after going through 2 different units with Dell within the last year - and having their tech actually damage laptop while "repairing" (coz it shipped with multiple defective parts, only one of which was ever fixed - my theory is this a design/biz decision on their part), then them giving me next model (because I know my rights and don't give up) which was obvs designed to fix all the crappy design and parts in original, and the ensuing hell and BSODs that was all things Dell - I will never dwell in Dell Hell again.

With the Legion 5 I've been in and around this unit, and it's an entirely different beast. Good design, excellent thermals. Some quirks to iron out with stock drivers, etc, but there always are.
