You realise there is a lot more to making jerky than just packing it right…?

You have to cut the meat, which I think someone worked out to like 15-30 cows worth of meat lol, then marinate it, which is usually overnight at least, then dehydrate it, which is 6-8hrs… Then the "5mins" to package it.

        • This is a different manufacturer, but you can get an idea from the pictures how such business operates https://www.mariani.com.au/aussie-beef/ They use machines, so it is much faster.

          • +1

@Mistredo: Yeah I get they aren't going to be doing it at their kitchen bench at home, but it's still that same process, the machines just allow for bigger batches at once. You'd still have long waits for the meat to dehydrate and for the meat to marinate.

            • @Binchicken22: Industrial jerky does not take that long to make. This video shows the entire process, and it says it takes 24 hours to marinate and 7 hours to smoke.

        • +5

we didnt pay for him to make it. we paid to get it shipped. why is he making bundaberg rum flavoured jerky anyway? i ordered 10 packs already existing why is this even being made a question

        • +5

NONONONONO,you have to feed the cow and wait it to grow takes years,so how about we wait for couple years?

  • The team at Doctor Proctor’s would like to express our apologies for the delay in shipping your order. There have been a multitude of reasons that have hindered our usual 48hr shipping time frame. We’ve recently had a lack of resources at hand to streamline this process however in the end, we weren’t prepared for such a large volume of orders. With a 70% sale and with a low shipping rate we were completely caught off guard! We have learnt from this experience and will be more prepared for future sales. We’d also like to extend our sincere apologies to Buy Aussie Now and hope that you’ll trust them for future orders as they are a great Australian company to deal with. The Doctor Proctor’s team is taking this square on.

All orders will now be shipped out next week and tracking IDs will be sent with delivery dates. We also apologise for the lack of communication from our tracking system as Australia Post doesn't send out an order status, only a shipping notification. Rest assured you will receive your parcel and hope to see you back again when we run more incredible sales!

    Just received this

    • Received too.

      • Whoops i posted as well - you beat me to it

        • -3

Received too. Would be good to receive a free shipping voucher for the next $50+ order as a goodwill gesture.

          • +2

@htc: I didn’t receive this email. Company is incompetent and unable to email all Customers with outstanding orders?

            • @bashar20: I didn't receive it either. Wonder what that means …

            • +1

@bashar20: If we assume it's thousands of customers and they don't use a mail service like MailChimp then no they can't email everyone at the same time. They'd get themselves blacklisted for spam and then they wouldn't be able to send anyone anything.

              • @Clear: Well obviously they need to communicate with all customers. Last email received was on 21/7. It’s the responsibility of BuyAussieNow to communicate and update their customers.
I have emailed BuyAussieNow and they didn’t respond to my email.
Zero costumer support from the incompetent BuyAussieNow. Frankly speaking you get better customer support from aliexprsss despite the language barriers.

                • +1

@bashar20: This email was from Doc Proc. AussieNow 110% agree with everything.

                  • @Clear: My purchase was through BuyAussieNow. It’s their responsibility to communicate and provide the service.

If there is an issue with the quality with the biltong, if it ever arrives, I would still expect to receive adequate resolution from BuyAussieNow.

    • +1

That's weird I didn't receive this. Checked my junkemail and nothing.

I did receive the first email that stated 5th of August…

  • +3

Got the email too just then.

As long as the jerky is good, I will forgive them. Otherwise there will be riot!

P.s. AFP pls takes note, i was joking about the riot!! im not associate with anti lockdown riots in any ways.

  • Keen to get my jerky/biltong, my afternoon snacks have been low carb banana bread and cold brew coffee this week.
    Need some meat!

  • +6

I don't mind waiting as long as I am notified.
And its beef jerky after all.
    You can go without.
My only concern is the quality now.
Beef needs to be marinated and dried well.
Hopefully he didn't cut corners to speed up the process.

    • Exactly my thoughts. If quality is down you can be sure this promo isn't going to be worth it for op or the owner. Gut feel, gonna be cut corners and low quality.

    • +1

Exactly this! You don’t fu*k around when it comes to dehydrated meat. Poor quality control could cause serious damage to consumers.

  • +7

To be honest. People including myself wouldn't be unhappy if this place accepted Paypal or acted more considerate with their customers. They could be upfront and have said 1 month or 2 month delay and i would still be fine but bad communication + no paypal is a big NO. I know i will never ever try this website again without Paypal

  • I'm worried about qulaity too. I want to cancel the order. I paid with prepaid CG…Does anyone know how to cancel the order??

  • +6

    Negging for several reasons.

Communication has been piss poor and just plain disrespectful.

You insult us by feeding us lies that you ‘didn’t know’ there would be so many orders. No! You just saw the dollars coming in and couldn’t give 2 sh1ts about the consumer.

Your assurances of when this would be delivered was straight up stall tactics - you knew there would be a delay.

Not a single OzB member has received their shipment as far as we can tell. How does a company that specialises in jerky not have enough stock to even ship out some orders?? Very suspect.

Now we have someone trying to produce well outside of their bounds and could possibly create a sub-par product at best or a deadly one at worst.

    /rant

    • Production should be a non issue given they supply 7-11, Caltex/Ampol, IGA (ALM/Metcash), Woolworths and BP.

      • +1

That just makes it even more bizarre and raises so many more questions.

  • +2

I just came here to say that I haven’t got my order.

Not to state the obvious, but when you post a deal on a national website, you surely are expecting a lot of orders. Noting it’s on sale, it should be stock that is ready to go out also.

How can it take more than a month just to send out some small packets? I would understand if half had received and it was a few of us whining- but no one has it yet which means you are trying to get stock together in order to send out.

Poor management, inventory and anticipation of a process the supplier instigated by running a sale.

I don’t even care, if it’s not here by next Friday I’m going for a refund and being down with it.

    • +2

      More than a month? It's been 2 weeks and 3 days…

      • +1

Geez, time without jerky certainly seems longer!

  • Has anyone received their jerky today?

What makes this worse is I recommended this deal to my friends…

    • doesn't seem like anyone has received their order and following up, I just get the same email everyone got saying they'll ship next week.

      • Correction not everyone reviewed the email…

  • So we gonna be delayed again next week?

    • No need to guess with Vic in a 7 day lockdown !

      +7 days .

      • -4

Yep all OPs fault these lockdowns…

        • I know m8 it hard to calculate Vic last lockdown ended 9 days ago with 0 orders sent .

  • +2

I have no idea that Dave the seller trying to be a nice guy,if he dont have freaking stock stop selling!Thats why he still have ad on facebook said 30g overstocked jerky with half price!

    • Or rather when you create a Facebook ad you select the duration it'll run for. I guarantee he hadn't even thought that he should go cancel those ads. He'd be off making everyone's orders.

      • +1

They still have plenty time to post on social media I cant see why they dont have time

  • +4

I reckon he is fulfilling fully paid orders before he sends out OZB ones

    • same

    • +2

Correct. Supplying supermarkets and all those would have contracts in place. He must fulfill those first and then our orders. Given the large volume it's no surprise he's out of stock. The blame is entirely on AussieNow for their greed and overselling when he said to stop.

  • +11

A stocktake of OP's lies so far.

1.Some orders have been sent out.

As far as I can tell, not a single soul here received their order apart from OP. (this maybe a lie of its own).

David's latest email "All orders will now be shipped out next week and tracking IDs will be sent with delivery dates." also suggested that nothing has been sent out so far.

2.Majority of the order will be received early this week. We will receive our orders no later than 5th August.

3.All orders are shipping out this week.

Now let's see if they will really ship orders out next week, which might turn out to be another lie. (I can see them blaming VIC lockdown already)

  • If we don’t get best to we all need to do charge back

  • +3

OP, please advise how to request for a refund and the estimated processing time.

    • I emailed [email protected] requesting a refund. If no reply, then I can go to my bank with proof I tried to arrange a refund for non supply of goods.

      • +5

Good idea. I just wrote up an email if anyone wants to use as a base.

        Hi Buy Aussie Now

Can you please provide full refund of $XX on Order number #00000XXXX

I ordered beef jerky from you on the XX July 2021 which was supposed to be delivered within 48 hours and then promised by your OzBargain rep no later than 5 August 2021 (due to overwhelming order quantity that you didn't have). Rather than tell people you had no stock, you allowed 3700 orders to be fullfilled with questionable capacity to deliver on this. I was assured by your rep it will be no later than 5 August and is now moved to 15 August with no reason on the delay. I received an email from the owner which doesn't detail why it is delayed other than overwhelming demand (i.e no stock and continue to sell) suggest excuses why it wasn't delivered and oversold items not in stock.

This and the misleading/ inaccurate commentary your OzBargain forum rep has provided and constantly moving expected delivery dates, no stock, and a small company trying to fulfill high volume outside their normal capacity makes me concerned of the quality of beef jerky and I want a full refund of $XX.

        Please refund asap.

        Thank you.
        XXXXX

        • +2

          They never replied mine 3/08/2021:

          To Whom It May Concern,

In light of the lack of communication on my order which I have placed on July the 19th, I want like to request a refund. My order number is XXX

          Sincerely,

          XXX

          • @RobBoss: Any response? They haven't replied to my request either so I've taken it to the bank.

            • @Freezies: i got a call saying to wait till this week, as I will. if nothing I will do a charge back

      • +1

        Thanks, please keep us posted

      • +1

On a side note, submit one via their support website https://buyaussienow.zendesk.com/hc/en-us

At least you get an acknowledgement email. I emailed [email protected] first and nothing happened

Update: a call from the regional manager, himself, apologising and asking me if I will wait a week. What seems to have triggered it might be the refund request I’ve submitted via their website.

Finally something new as I have received nothing but the Aug 5th update. In this case, I will wait. Hope they learn from their mistake and know that communication is key.

    • +1

OP's last seen's 17hrs ago. People have been asking for refund and yet there's complete silence from them regarding this topic.

  • +6

Plenty of Bull !!! But still no jerky !!!

    • I think we are all jerked around plenty.

  • +1

On the plus side to Lockdown 6.0MG… They'll be well cured!!! funny - not funny :(

  • +1

Im guessing the snap lockdown in VIC for 7 days is just gonna delay this even further….

Be nice to get some sort of feedback from the rep on how these are being shipped. ie, are these being picked up by a courier direct from source?

  • +8

Fwiw I have ordered twice before with them, once was just 2 days prior to this deal and both times orders where shipped pretty much next day.

    And delicious (especially the stokkies).

  • Anyone have a link to Dr Proctors google review page? want to inform the greater interwebs that the only things this guy delivers is false hope and lies.

  • +2

Delay after delay after delay, 5th and then told 15th now next week will ship, make up your mind.

    • +2

It'll will be delayed again next week, they'll blame it on the lockdown ;)

You might have to wait for Thanksgiving or Christmas for your jerky to arrive.

  • +1

Negged deal - misleading commentary by OP and owner regardless of bargain. Obviously secured a sale too big to deliver on but as others had pointed out, greed led BAN not to cancel sooner.

Plenty of things that could have been done to rectify. The final nail in the coffin will be the quality concerns of a small company trying to meet high demand.

  • +8

At least they can say: No cows were harmed throughout this deal

  • +2

Echoing an earlier comment to have Buy Aussie Now banned from OzB.

Everyone likes supporting local small businesses, no one likes being lied to and taken advantage of. Treat your customers with contempt and deal with the consequences.

    • we would never lie or take advantage of anyone, please feel free to call me on 0499078959 to discuss.

      • Giving your mobile number out? Oooft. Good luck.

        • I will make sure everyone gets their Jerky and I'm ok for people to call me if they need to.
We are going to deliver everything and we are not hiding from the issue.

          • +2

@Buy Aussie Now: If the deadline isn’t made this time. I think you should be offering refunds. Like many have said. They don’t mind the wait as long as everyone is being transparent which your company failed miserably with.

            • @[Deactivated]: we thought we set a date that was very achievable, unfortunately we got it wrong by a week.
Any future deals will only be posted with stock on hand.

              • +1

@Buy Aussie Now: "unfortunately we got it wrong by a week." - be careful it seems like you're doing the same mistake, are you sure you can deliver all the orders by this week ?

                • @Boogi: lol @ all orders… how about… any orders…

              • +1

@Buy Aussie Now: Against my better judgement, im going to hold you to that.

                August 12th.

                No more excuses.

          • @Buy Aussie Now: You are not hiding from the issue? Then why no reply to my numerous requests for a refund? Pathetic

      • +5

The opportunity to communicate has passed. I dont want this jerky anymore and nor do i want to support your business. You have sent out one measly email advising of a delivery date that never eventuated. This email was sent out almost 2 weeks after the jerky was meant to be delivered.
The way this business has acted is entirely unprofessional and arrogant in simply assuming there is no need to keep a community of customers updated as to excessive delays.
To not set a limit on the amount of stock that can be sold is almost beyond comprehension for an ecommerce store.
You have done little to garner the patience of this community.
Please process all of the requested refunds immediately.

  • +8

Hi Everyone, there are a few comments regarding quality, there will be no issue regarding quality.
Again we apologise for the extended delay, we had a few issues but we have it all sorted out.

The hold up ended up being the packaging not the product. Everything is arranged to be delivered next week.
I am the Sales Manager of Buy Aussie Now, I have called about 20 people this morning and I am posting my mobile number here for anyone who wants to contact me.
    0499078959 is my number.

We are not hiding from the issues and we will make sure everyone gets their jerky next week.

    • +4

How can we process refund for our order?

    • +3

I never got a phone call. I did not even get one email!
I had to chase nearly everything up, as too others I am sure.

Honestly, regardless of if the jerky arrives, it will be hard to even look at the company again in a good light.

    • +7

Give this guy a break. He was 1 week wrong with a shipping date. Attacking people like OP will more likely just stop them posting good deals here. As someone who bought into the deal late, I'm glad they left it open so I could make my purchase at a great discount and I'll gladly wait an extra week for that. I'm sure if they only processed 250 orders, not 3,200 there would be a lot more people wishing they could get the deal and wait longer for delivery. Maybe they could have been communicated a bit better from the start but have some patience, at least we're getting updates still.

      • +2

It's not even about the lack of communication anymore for me. I was one of those who bought when there was only less than 50 clicks on this deal. If they have 250 available stock when this deal was posted, surely by now someone must've received their order and yet it's only OP who claims they received theirs from this batch.

Now, it's how quick and easy they took money from us and yet they're making it almost impossible to get it back from them unless everyone initiates a chargeback from their bank.

  • +4

My opinion is that IF you want a refund, you're far better off advising your credit card provider that you require a chargeback. Multiple users are stating that refund requests are not getting any response or they're being asked to wait longer.

Just be sure to advise the credit card provider that you've contacted the seller asking for a refund and they've not responded to that either.

And to be frank seeking a chargeback will give them more 'pain' than simply a refund as this will bring the spotlight on them by their bank - as it's a bit of a red flag.

Under Australian Consumer Law you're certainly entitled to demand a full refund as it's well outside of initial delivery info given at time of sale and now also 2 subsequent ones.

  • +1

So basically you telling me that this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/641692 arrived in ONE WEEK from China.

But our jerky from Northcote is struggling to see daylight hahaha. Crazy.

  • +1

Why has nothing being shipped last week, this week? Oh wait want it meant to arrive 5th? Straight face lie that orders have been shipped, has anyone got anything seems not to be the question.

U know what they playing the game untill you can't get charge back, I advise to charge back don't bother with customer support. Waiting over a month is oblivious, never in my life there has been such appealing behaviour, and as a consumer side, I advise to stay as far from this company as it has just lost all its value and trust from the community.

  • +4

Instead of letting your customers wait for when the stocks are ready to be shipped, why not redeem yourself and offer them refund if they want to instead of telling them to just wait a bit longer?

    • +2

      Absolutely this.

Not sure what went wrong with their operation and it's none of my business either, BUT they should have refunded those the second they knew it was too much too handle a week or so ago. Damage control process will take a lot longer now.

  • +1

I'm still waiting, I'm on the central coast NSW. How long will it take???

    • +2

Thanksgiving if you're lucky. Christmas otherwise.

      • +2

        2022 or 2023?

        • Jesus Christ people, it's been 2 weeks, settle down. You'll get your jerky.

          • +1

@Binchicken22: Brad. This had more to do with communication.

I am still happy to wait. But communication was non existent until I reached out. Just expected more from an Aussie company I guess.

          • @Binchicken22: What if we don't want our jerky anymore because we've satisfied our jerky cravings from somewhere else and would like to get a refund instead? You can't see anywhere in this thread that OP offered refund. Instead, they'd rather hold our money and force us to wait for when they can actually fulfil our orders. They can also possibly have already used our money to fund their business.

Yes they're not running away, but it's a very bad business practice not to cancel orders when they can't fulfil them. At least fulfil the orders of those who were able to buy the first 250 stocks that they have supposedly.

  • +1

    Refund

  • +7

Find it pretty odd that these haven't been shipped out yet. Isn't the whole idea of having a product on sale to move stock that's just sitting in a warehouse somewhere? Sounds like these haven't even been made so it wasn't really a sale, more like pre-orders which is a whole different thing. Think the post needed to have made that clear.

    • -2

I think OP said somewhere that this deal was for marketing purposes and that's why they kept selling past stock levels so that everyone can try their jerky. I am sure OP has learnt a lot from this experience and he'll take those learnings into next time. If the jerky is good, we'll all forget the annoyance of the wait haha.

      • And if it’s not? Lmao

      • +3

If a customer of mine asked for a refund I would provide it promptly out of courtesy .
In this thread how many have asked for a refund for no response ?

        • +5

Under Australian Consumer Law they must give refund given the delay if requested - but they're not - hence why I instead recommended folks save the stress and go to your CC provider for a chargeback instead - these guys have proven multiple times they are not professional nor acting in their customers best interests, so to expect them to do so now is optimistic - get a chargeback, it'll cause issues for them with their bank as well as credit card providers dislike having to do these and frown on merchants who have too many of them.

  • +6

If they actually gave out refunds, they would lose money from excess supplies. Not responding to refunds shows that they have no goodwill from this mess and the company is a piece of crap

  • they would lose money from excess supplies

Believe me if customers received their orders they would have no problem clearing any surplus .
