Thanks OP, bought one along with this to take advantage of the $30 cashback from AMEX (https://store.google.com/au/product/usb_c_headphone_adapter?…).

    Works out to be a total of $126 less $96 = $30 :-)

    • What amex offer? I can't see any on my amex app for google.

    • Did it show up on your statement as google play or google store

      • Google store Amex offer

      • Went through fine when I purchased this morning, recieved an email from Amex shortly afterwards confirming the offer had been redeemed.

  • Does the netflix credit have an expiry?

  • For those not interested in getting the Netflix bonus, JB Hi-Fi is offering 3 months free YouTube Premium (new users) for $99

  • Has anyone tried this? Do you get credit for 12 months then?

    • No, you get only one voucher/ code for 6 months
On the product page, only one chromecast has the Netflix logo against the product and if you scroll down, it calls out 6 months netflix

      • Thanks, makes sense.

  • Thanks OP, had to bundle it with the Ethernet adapter to qualify for the AMEX offer making the adaptor free :)

    • Did it show as google play or google store on your amex statement

  • Can you sideload these?

  • Does this do 4k dolby vision and HDR?

  • Does anyone know if these support 7plus?
Keen to watch the Olympics on my dumb TV but the 7app on my phone doesn't appear to support chromecast to my old school chromecast.

    • You mean it doesn’t work on your chrome cast because it’s old? I have chrome cast ultra and it works, so this will definitely work too

      • That's interesting thanks I'll give it another go. We couldn't get the "cast" function to work from a phone

        • +2

To answer your Original question. Yes it has the 7plus app. Am watching Olympics on it right now.

        • +1

Make sure the mobile and the chromecast are on the same Wi-Fi network. I had the same issues with casting from the 7app and had to force close the app and switch off/on the chromecast. That did it for me, hope this helps

          • +1

@Abadabba: With this latest Chromecast, you don't have to cast from your mobile to the TV - It has apps preloaded on it.

            • +1

@Ak850: My reply was more to do with Woodyg22's issue with casting on the older version of Chromecast.
But yes, the google tv chromecast has the 7 app in built, just need to signup/ create an account i think

  • can i purchase this using google play gift card?

  • Can you use the credit if you are currently paying in different currency?

  • Would love to know how this thing gets on with lg c1 oled vs new apple tv, I’m more interested if it can pass through the dolby vision and 4k content correctly or I’m just better off sticking with all the available apps on my c1. I love the idea of having all my subs in one area as apposed to opening multiple apps to view different content but at what cost in regards to proper pass through of dolby vision and properly displayed UHD content, can anyone here speak on this?

Pretty sure the new apple tv has no issues with proper pass through of hd content but can chrome cast?

  • Does the chromcast & Netflix need to be the sane email?

    • +1

No. You can register the Netflix code to any Netflix account i.e. Netfix as an app does not take on the credentials of your Chromecast TV account. You need to log into Netflix when run and can be any account.

  • Anyone ordered or knows how long it takes for dispatch and delivery…. Thanks

    • I ordered on weekend and will receive it today. In melbourne.

  • Just wondering if anyone else notices sound drop out (~1 sec, intermittently but not often) - I've got the GTV plugged directly into the soundbar's HDMI input (Samsung Q70T).
I don't believe it would be a HDMI cable quality issue if the TV is last device in the chain?

Still got a spare one of these, perhaps I should test the other one but reckon it's the GTV/software issue.
I was intending on flogging off the Netflix credit to a family member or friend that pays it anyway.

    Cheers

    • No issues myself but perhaps one to Google. Most likely relates to the soundbar. Is it via all apps or just the one e.g. Netfix only. ALSO, does issue exist if connected directly to the TV?

      • Hi, agree it's probably a sound bar issue then, I haven't tried connecting to the tv directly as I wanted the HDMI ARC for TV -> soundbar. It's only a very minor gripe I guess, just hard to find the fault. Probably no point in testing other cable or the GTV device hey.
(Edit: The soundbar is great otherwise, and managed to get for $420 after a couple of price protection claims)
        Cheers

        • Not an expert but personally I think that issue is something to do with audio and video keeping sync, as it happens to my Sony Bluetooth portable speaker and the device (Your Samsung Soundbar) is trying to keep the audio and video in sync by missing a beat on the audio side

But saying that as I have the Samsung 800 series I think there are settings related to syncing, again not an expert but maybe very slightly delay or the complete opposite the sync settings, well I'm sure the Samsung speaker must set a fractional delay on the video side as it receives the audio first to process then needs to pass both audio and video in sync to your TV

          Again I'm no expert 👍😁

          • @Italkdigital: Thanks for that, doesn't sound like any type of fix then I guess.
I think I'll still test the other HDMI cable but you'd think the one that came with the Soundbar would be up to scratch. It would probably be worth having a hdmi 2.1 cable I suppose.

            • @G-rig: My Samaung speaker is actually the Samsung HW-Q800T Soundbar and I'm using it with my PC, HDMI and Bluetooth is great dare I say awesome but using it with digital optic out just sounds terrible, mind you my motherboard has a high end soundcard built into it so I was expecting more out of it and of course the HDMI sound is out of my 3070 graphics card so the sound card is built into the Nvidia graphics card, I'd say the optic out would probably work great out of a Samsung TV so I'm guessing again just hardware conflicts, though not that I bought my soundbar new well less then half price I just expected more out of it, well all round better out off all connections but I sort of new from the reviews of my Samsung Soundbar what to expect, but I do love the Samsung integration with my Samsung mobile controlling the soundbar through wifi etc i.e. SamsungThings app

      • The other thing I've noticed is it Bloody reverts to 1080p not 4k, no real reason or idea why ffs. A reboot of the soundbar helps or the device

        • Funny I used my Chromecast for one day and that's it (have a Fetch Mighty box),.. isn't there a setting to set resolution from auto to fixed 4k in the Chromecast maybe might help

  • I'm guessing I can't apply this credit to my Argentinian Netflix.

Does anyone know if I can "move" my account to Aus, or whether I should just start a new one?

    • Can't apply mine to Brazil either, has to be the same county as the account.

      • did you try and it gives an error? I've never had a netflix account before, and I Just bought this. and was wondering if I can sign up to Netflix turkey and use the credit there?

        • haven't tried but apparently it will give an error about different country, may as well try it if you want :)

  • How long do these take to arrive?
Ordered one last Sunday and it still hasn’t been shipped.

    • I ordered one on 19/08/21 and it's still not shipped.. I actually forgot I ordered it until recently when I saw a charge on my card, so I contacted them and they told me it's out of stock with a promise to ship "in a few days". It's been another week with no updates, so it's pretty disappointing I had to contact them to find out this was actually out of stock and on backorder..

      • Yeah I noticed the colour I ordered was out of stock so cancelled my order and re ordered the white which was in stock. It arrived in 3 days.

        • Thanks for that, going to do the same thing.

  • Is anyone's enter button (round one in the middle) not working as well as originally did? It seems to require a longer or harder press than the other buttons?
I haven't changed the location of the device but being bluetooth never needed to point it as such. I've done the batteries-out reset and update for the remote.
Not sure this is really a warranty item?

Just remembered still have a spare device one in the netflix bundle, can't imagine using the credit but was intending on sending just the device back, but may be worth testing it.

  • I want the unit but not Netflix. Hopefully will drop price without

  • now comes with $101.94 Netflix credit (6 x $16.99)

So the device only costs you $38

(Google sent me a $10 voucher recently - check you emails, so it only cost me $28 for the device)

    Offer expires 31 December 2021 11:59pm AEST

  • Only pink now available. Based on prior deals experience can anyone advise if other colours likely to restock before deal expires on 31 December. If not I may just buy pink. Can always leave unopened and return it white becomes available.

  • When I buy this can the voucher be applied to my friends premium Netflix account? Thanks

  • I think now it comes with Youtube premium 3 months instead?
