  • I'm with ABB rn on 100/40 $89/month because of their 6 month promo. I've been meaning to switch to Superloop since it's quite a bit cheaper but I've been reading that a lot of people are unsatisfied with the service. Is it worth it to switch over? I have 4-5 months left on the ABB promo.

  • How does it compare to Belong $55 plan with 30mps speed? Thanks

    • Was with Belong 6 mo ago. Never had any issues. I moved out bec's they increased NBN50 rate to 70 post one year plan.

      • Yeah, true cheap rate is for 12 months. To my noob knowledge their $55 plan is a better value than the $54.96 superloop? Thanks

        • Agree. Plus you get a reasonably good free modem.

  • Currently FTTN with ABB here. Will there be any downtime? And will I need to log into my modem to change username and password?

    • No and no.

    • I have FTTN and just changed from ABB on the weekend. Signed up online, took 10 minutes to be actioned. Just reset the modem and worked without changing anything.

Did a speed test, slightly faster than what I was getting with ABB.

      • Why dont you have to change your password/username.
Assuming Superloop create a new account for you, you still would need to set up the password they issued dont you?

I am thinking of switching also from ABB to Superloop. I am using ABB supplied router but I do have a Netcomm - Nighthawk AC1900.
How hard is it to contact support to get the config for this router?

  • Geez, I just churned from ABB to Superloop at $74.95/m for 100/20. Now I see this. Do you reckon they will let me get the same plan at the $69.95/m price since I only signed up on Saturday?

    • Haha, I’m on the same boat.

  • I switched to SL a week ago and it seems fine. I've noticed compared to TPG it has some poor peering to parts of the US, but otherwise its fine. Much better peering to Europe compared to Tangerine/comparable to TPG.

  • Is superloop better than Tangerine?

    • I churned from Tangerine and I find them much better than Tangerine speed wise on FTTP connection.

  • Am with Superloop already, paying $64pm after some referral discount. What's the cheapest 100mbps plan elsewhere?

  • Can anyone here share your waiting time to get in touch with Superloop? I can not say it's good customer service to answer a phone call over 1 hour.

    • Called customer support twice today. Requested call backs. Was called back in about 15 min both times. Support were Aussies, courteous and did their best to help me out.

  • Not as good as Tangerine price wise

  • moving into a building that has TPG FTTB available.
Would this suit better or TPG?

    • Is that TPG FTTB or nbn FTTB with TPG?

      • its a TPG FTTB, in a relatively older building complex, maybe 20-30 years old?

        • TPG FTTB is probably your only choice. It's good for the price.

cant compare a Vocus product with Superloop
      come on mate

      • -3

Can’t compare Superloop to Aussie Broadband
If we are looking at speed for cost, Tangerine>>>Superloop

        • +1

Tangerine is a 3rd class Vocus product
SL is a premium grade provider with Publically available CVC etc
so to save 10-15 bucks pm is not useful for most medium-high end users

basic users u might even find Spintel is OK

and the speeds u talking abt are only local to Australia, SL/ABB etc have premium Intl transits

          • @ibtihaj: Product Review Ratings are interesting
            Tangerine Telecom 4.1 (2,471)
            Superloop 3.4 (301)

            • -1

@Korban Dallas: good for u, u can go with whts highly rated vs whts actual

              • @ibtihaj: It's the customer service that is the problem. Look at all the 1 star reviews.

                Paints a picture?

                • @Korban Dallas: u think Tangerine has better cust servc?
                  get ur facts straight
if u want better CS choose ABB
both are premium providers when it comes to internet connectivity, a 3rd class vocus product gives u nthng but pain
its not CS that matters, Publically available CVC is the most important factor for any RSP, CS comes in second

                  • @ibtihaj: I haven't tried Superloop. Probably will after tangerine so can't compare.

But anecdotally it would appear so.

Has anyone actually compared providers with objective analysis?

I get you have a boney for Superloop. But honestly those on lower tiers and FTTN would notice a difference?

Aussie BB, Internode, exetel, telstra, Iinet and Tangerine all around the same speed and latency for 50/20 at least for me anyway.

                    • -5

@Korban Dallas: true I have a Boney same as u have a sex appeal for a 3rd class vocus resold product

to save ur ass u now talkig abt FTTN bla bla to save ur pu$$y
do some intl speedtest, whether it be Fttn or Hfc, speed tests and latency wud be night and day different
guess u r tht kinda person tht thinks all Rsps are the same

                      • @ibtihaj: Not everyone is in the FTTP bubble.

I think you should get a job there.

If Telstra offers 50/20 for $79/month that’s not value for money?
        Should be negged?
Where’s the 4G+ fallback modem from Superloop? ABB?
        I win

        • +1

Telstra is absolute trash. They're infrastructure is trash, There customer service is trash.
          You can't compare the two.
I had non stop outages and bandwidth issues for 2 years with Telstra. Superloop has had 100% uptime with no issues what so ever for 3-4 months whilst being with them. May as well compare them to Dodo.

BTW, 4G fail back is useless too. Always failed over on that shitty link, wasn't usable.

          • +1

@illz: I bought a B818 for fallback, and connected it to my main router. I just use a Belong SIM and band lock it, so I get at least 50/20 on 4G LTE on the Telstra network.

I guess I could buy an Optus postpaid SIM or a Telstra/Boost pre or postpaid SIM, and get slightly higher speeds, but it would probably wouldn't make that much difference for my usage.

          • -2

@illz: Tangerine has had 100% uptime for the time I’ve been with them & rock solid consistent 50/20. None of these big drop offs in the evenings that happens with other providers

  • Messaged them via messenger and they want me to call for a $5 per month off for existing customers.

    • they offered me the same just before i jumped over to ABB

I was with Launtel and my 6 month discount finished last month. I really liked Launtel support and their PAYG model that can be downgraded or paused as required along with free Static IP address (needs a refundable deposit). I wish more providers come with Launtel billing model. But this superloop offer was too cheap to ignore although they charge $5 for static IP (required for my work).

  • I joined Superloop in March 2020 and left in Feb 2021. I got the signup bonus when I joined them. Is it 12 months since you last got the signup bonus or 12 months since you left?

Can you tell during signup if you are eligible based on the time based rules around new customers? ie Once you've entered your address and you're looking at plan prices, if you can see the discount you should be eligible?

  • Not listed here but I called up today and got 250/25 for $110 for 6 months, as I was coming off then 250/25 at $90 for 6 months new customer promotion.

    thanks OP

  • I was just billed for the month by ABB, not paid yet.
If I port straight away to SL, is it possible to get an update invoice from ABB?
Or just wait for the end of the cycle to Port?

    • +1

ABB will pro rata refund within 10days of cancelling. You still need to ring up and cancel after you port.

      • Thanks mate, signed up today with SL and gave ABB a call for the cancellation. They will provide credit/refund for the days not used.
        FTTP, activation was almost instantaneous

  • If I use Referral code, do I get 10% off too?
I can't seem to confirm from reading the T&C however I seen post that say both will get the discount.

    • This, and is it applicable to 250/25 or 1000/50 Connections?

      • just read a Feb post on WP, when we sign up we don't get the discount only the referrer get the 10%

I am with Soopaloop now for 6 months. Running out now. Is it considered new user if I sign up using a new email under partner's name but same supply address. Or someone suggest other good NBNs for 50/20 or 100/40 plans. Thanks

    • Yes, you can sign up using partners name, but will need to supply a proof of occupancy document. Also, they may not automatically change your speed to the new plan, so need to give them a call to change your speed profile.

      • Thanks bud. appreciate it.

  • So I switched to Aussie BB after one month with the discounted Superloop rates thinking it's a superloop issue I'm having but instead it's my home network.

Can I jump back in and still get discount?

    • You have to wait 12 months to be considered a 'new customer' and eligible for discounted rates. Use the Ozbargain superloop referral to at least save 10% for six months (happy to ping you mine haha).

  • +1

Just enquired about any available offers for existing customers and was offered a $5 off for 6 months. Have been with them almost 2 yrs, nothing to complain for my household usage.

  • Hi, I am currently with Superloop, but now I am moving home so if I take new connection will that be considered for this offer? and does anyone know if they are still upgrading the speed for free?

  • Can you set an install date with Superloop?

    • Yes. You can with all ISPs just set a connection date

  • Been quite happy with Superloop. Almost up to my six months so having a look around again to see if there are any better /intro deals.

I found that the speeds on Superloop are a bit better than Tanerine (typically min. 52 vs say 46-48 on Tangerine) on the 50/20 plan. Perhaps they've done some upgrades around this area since then.

Don't need support usually, and HFC here doesn't seem dependant of the provider really (took a minute to churn from Tangerine to Superloop once signed up)

Will Tangerine let you back within 6 months or try somewhere else first? I haven't got a single referral with superloop, and personally thinking that's worth something for Tangerine as you get 25$ off the bill quite often (register on OzBargain), not sure if they let you back after 6 months. Edit: just read some comments above but happy for recommendations.

    Cheers

    • Check out mate. Try them for a month risk free.

      • Ok cheers

      • $69/month for 50/20, no intro rate for 6 months, what about referrals? Seems easier to stay on superloop for another six months $69.95 ongoing).
Ask the plans around the place seem a bit more expensive these days..

        • You can't continue on the $69.95 after 6 months, it's only an intro special. You'll be bumped up to the regular monthly cost.
Was just giving you an alternative option after your intro 6 months is up with superloop.

          • @Heybargain: Yeah all good Still weighing it up, Aqua is pretty cheap but hard to say if it's worth stuffing around with it too be honest, especially if the connection is worse.

  • +1

Thanks OP. My 6 month 100/40 promo with ABB was just about to end. I'll save $10 a month for the same plan with Superloop.

  • I'm with ABB, I've never switched ISP's before… My billing period starts on the 14th of each month - so when would be the "ideal" time to switch?

12th or 13th of the month?

    Thanks!

    • +1

Switch anytime because Aussie BB do pro rata refunds. Most ISPs don't do pro rata refunds. This deal is meant to expire in October so don't wait until November 12th.

  • Sorry in advance if this is a total noob question..

Unless you are uploading large files regularly, is there an advantage of going 100/40 over 100/20?

I rely on online video meetings during the day and play abit on xbox live - taking that into account, will I have any advantage going 40 over 20 upload speed?

    • +1

That depends on how many users are online at the same time. You can always change plans.

  • +1

Returning customers [who have previously been with Superloop and already received a six (6) month discount promotion] will not be eligible for a new promotion for a period of twelve (12) months.

Superloop do not do ID or credit checks.
So, nothing stops you from signing up under a different email and mobile number to your last account 6 months ago.

    • +1

Yep I have heard that works. Superloop have the nbn premises location ID and they might eventually catch on with someone signing up on a new promo.

      • +1

premises location ID and they might eventually catch on with someone signing up on a new promo

Yep. You can only use that "I am a new tenant" excuse so many times. :)

        • Can imagine a sharehouse of uni students taking this up. how many sign-ups is too many?

  • +1

Ok so I switched from ABB to Superloop this morning, the changeover started almost instantly.. I was up and running with Superloop within 10 mins. FWIW, when I contacted ABB to cancel my service the helpful guy I spoke to offered to match my new service (which I was surprised as I didn't think ABB did that).

    • Most of the time Aussie BB won't price match. Maybe Aussie BB have changed their policy. How much and what speed was it?

      • +1

I ended up going for the 100/20 plan @ $69.95 (for 6 months)… The guy at ABB said they couldn't match it, but I thought it was interesting that he even looked into it.

  • Anyone tried signing up with a unique username after 6mths with another provider & still getting monthly discount from SL?

I wasn't aware of the 12mth between criteria. I've already re-signed up after 6mths but won't be active until late January (had to give Exetel 30 days notice of porting out).

    Cheers.

    • Could you please let us know if this works for you when you do end up signing up with SL after the 30-day notice?

    • +2

I’ve almost finished on the 6 month promo from ABB having previously had a SL service before that.

I signed up again last week using this offer but this time with a unique username & under another family member’s name. Order went through fine got connected almost instantly (I’m on FTTP) and then cancelled my ABB service. All works good here.

      • Cheers mate, hopefully mine goes smoothly also. Worst case, ill cancel it after first mth & go with Tangerine, then i can simply rotate between the 3 suppliers. (Exetel—>Super—>Tangerine)

  • +1

We were with SL then tried Launtel, fantastic provider but pricing was an issue for me. SL was in my partners name previously, after a couple of weeks with being with Launtel I went back to SL in my name this time, and had no issue getting the promo new customer discount

  • Wait, its a 12 month wait period between contracts now with SL?! :(

      • +1

yeah i live by myself, might try a new username. Im currently moved over to "More" and its been a disaster at peak hours.

        • i have just re-signed up with SL (was with exetel for 6mths), unique username & got discounted pricing again ($54.95/6mths NBN50)

          • @Bunsen:

            unique username

Unique email address. If you are signing up online, you have no choice but to use an unique email address (i.e. one that isn't on their customer database).

  • can we sign up selecting a future activate date ?

    • +1

      Definitely can

      • thanks mate!

  • I’m going from one to the next every six months, won’t ever go back to Spintel, was with them for years, terrible connection, but that was broadband, tried superloop, now on tangerine and the six mnths nearly up, I don’t want to pay more than $55-$60 p/m 50/20, don't use it much, who should I go to next?

    • +1

      Go back to superloop
