What if the same thing happens again?

    Is it worth the risk?

    • +5

at least you can use paypal with easy refund.

He said that was another company, this one has 5 stars on Google and Facebook

        • +2

With 61 positive reviews 5 star, its unlikely you wouldn't get your item.

          • -2

@[Deactivated]: That depends who the 'reviewers' are……

    • +2

I know aye, is it even worth the risk stepping outside to collect the parcel once it arrives? What if lightning strikes me? What if the sky fell on my head?? 🤔

      • !remindme 1 week Check that Skinnerr is still alive or they have been struck been lightning whilst picking up a parcel containing beef jerky from their porch.

    • Sounds like everyone got jerked around in the last jerky offer, I really need a jerk with all this lockdown business

      • "Another Ozbargains post"
This company took a ton of orders and shut down website and socials to run away with money
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/638949
He's talking about stock never arriving from the BuyAussieNow deal not 4hunters

        • -4

There's no guarantee that the same thing won't happen again here.

          • @jv: They take paypal as payment so it's guarenteed not to happen

            • @[Deactivated]: that doesn't mean anything. they can withdraw the funds, what is paypal going to do then?

        • +3

Which company shut down their website? Doc Proc and AussieNow certainly didn't.

          • @Clear: Sorry I was mistaken through a quick browse of the post, looks like one user couldn't connect and panicked but pretending to ship is just as bad.

            • +2

@[Deactivated]: The fault is entirely with AussieNow as the stock allocated was sold out and they got greedy and added more. Doc Proc tried to stop the extra orders. There's obviously more orders than he has inventory and if he was to rush it all out I'm sure the quality would drop…. just like it did with Geronimo that one time.

Unfortunately most OzBargainers in that deal can't see the bigger picture.

              • @Clear: I don't think marketplace can dictate supplier how much they should sell, let alone increase stock.

Now about big picture. Let's assume it takes one person 5 minutes to assemble and package order, at estimated 3000 orders that's 15000 minutes or 11 days of working 24*7. Even if they have that stock, and I'm not going to speculate whether they do or don't, it'll take two weeks for 3 people to just package and mail it.

                • @[Deactivated]: There was X amount of stock allocated, it sold out and the rep went and added more. A few days ago David from Doc Proc said how they tried to stop the orders (hence it going out of stock) and then they kept coming (hence AussieNow putting it back in stock). The blame there is entirely on AussieNow for overselling.

Now about the big picture. You're assuming that 3000 orders equals 3000 packages. Do take note that a single order would have 5x30g and 3x100g so that's 8 packets that need to be packed for a single order. Assuming that's what everyone ordered? I ordered double so that's 16 packets for me.

Now that's a huge amount of jerky and are you absolutely certain that they have all the stock at hand? David said they didn't so more had to be produced. There's a whole process involved in making jerky. It's not as easy as a peanut sandwich. Now all of this is ontop of the orders from their own website, other jerky websites, big stores like Dan Murphy's and other wholesale orders.

                  • -1

@Clear: A few days ago David from Doc Proc said how they tried to stop the orders

                    Link?

                    • @[Deactivated]: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/10827009/redir

Also worth adding that manufacturing a single flavour is far less time consuming than the heap that was on sale.

                      • -1

@Clear: "Sorry for any inconvenience, we were totally caught off guard and we tried stopping the sale earlier than we did but they just kept coming in." - I don't see how you make a leap from this phrase to conclusion that BuyAussie increased available stock themselves.

Regardless of who screwed it up supplier could just claim error and refund orders but they chose not to.

                        • @[Deactivated]: Except in this instance it's not the supplier who sold the product. AussieNow did and that's where the payment was made to.

                          • @Clear: That's barely relevant, supplier can close order and refund.

                            They did not.

                            • @[Deactivated]: It absolutely is relevant. The onus is on you to reach out to them and ask for a refund. Don't expect Doc Proc to go cancel the extra orders because he's going to fulfill them.

And he just sent us all an email.

No, just saying you need to be more cautious buying off someone you haven't bought off before and believing reviews on social media… It's not hard to get good reviews for a few $$.

  • Did anyone receive their orders from BuyAussieNow?

    • +2

      I know I didn't :-(

    • +1

No and literally no update or tracking number.

    • None from comment,so should be none from that post

    • +5

My order is out for delivery today.
I was informed via email on 23d July that it would arrive no later than 5th August so assuming it does come today ( Couriers Please) then all is well.
I agree they shouldn't have accepted so many orders without the stock, but once they were 'ozbargained' they have communicated and acted in a professional manner from my point of view.

    • Nope - it was mentioned that all orders will be filled by the 15th.
I ordered on the 19th July when the deal was first posted.
They are saying some people have received their orders, but no one has mentioned they have received anything

    • +1

      Nothing here ordered on 19th

Pretty poor business practise to accept orders without having stock

    • Got an apologetic email that stating that all orders would be shipped next week. As long as I get it eventually I'm not overly bothered.

  • FYI you can add x5 100g biltong to save 4 cents~! and you can get more variety oops its for 500 g not 1kg haha

  • How long does biltong last sealed? I can't open it for likely 2 weeks so don't want to buy now if they have short expiry

    • freeze it with a paper bag is what I heard

    • +2

The packaged biltong can stay in the bag for far more than two weeks, the shelf life is up to a year until opened.

  • PTSD triggered

    • True, but looks cheap at 50 per kilo just dont know the quality

      • +1

It is cheap. Reviews seem good too. They've got a store in Wellington point (QLD), unlike doctor proctor.

      It's made out of cow

    • yep… was thinking about buying this made me stop. Why wouldn't they include ingredient details…

  • Mine never came from BuyAussieNow either

    • From the comments it seems like no one received theirs.

    • I've just got an email from them saying my order should arrive no later than August 15th. They're pretty swamped it seems

  • Gotta be better than the Aldi biltong

  • Can anyone find nutrition info?

Seems the bulk of 1kg options are sold out.

  • +2

FYI: if this is your 1st order with them - Sign up for their newsletter before ordering as they send you a Discount code for your 1st order (not able to use for Drywors)

Which I missed out on using after I placed and paid for my order - signup was part of my ordering.

    • +1

might not work on the sale items. I just did that but the code doesn't seem to work

    • Thanks for the code, gives you free shipping if anyone is curious. Ordered myself 1kg of the Original for $50 delivered which should give me something to munch on while locked down.

The last jerky post on here that I bought form (Kims beef jerky) was so inedible I had to throw away the last 500g . If it's cheap and no nutrition info is shown I'd expect this to be equally as bad.

    • There is nutrition info on the back of the packaging they are sending a photo to me soon for the Jerky and Dry Wors.

    • That was bad?? Wow…. I actually really liked it but it was a bit too sweet… I haven't tried many other beef jerky to compare with but, so I probably don't know what really good beef jerky is.

      • Maybe I just got a bad batch I'm not sure, but I feel sick thinking about it now so will never try it again lol.

Mine was very dry and really brittle and sweet, almost caramalised. It was like eating some bad beef/lemon grass flavored toffee.
Being an ozbargainers I tried to force myself to finish it but it was just so bad, in my opinion

I don't eat much jerky (as its expensive), but I know I normally love it.

        • Do you eat much asian jerky from the asian grocery shops? I didnt get to try the Kims deal but the dryness and brittleness is how it is normally, almost has this stringyness and powdery style coating. Just really curious if you had been more used to and expecting more westernised jerky ( it truly resembles nothing like the jerky from the supermarket, Jack Links or biltong) or whether Kims aren’t any good. Did anyone else try the Kim’s deal and could offer some perspective here?

          • @tokziktigah: " powdery style coating" That's similar to other asian jerky I've had….

  • -3

White people's jerky taste like plastic. Full of tendons.

    Get Asian jerkys way better.

African Indigenous peoples of Southern Africa, such as the Khoikhoi, preserved meat by slicing it into strips, curing it with salt, and hanging it up to dry.

  • any recommendations on best flavor thats stilll in stock?
edit: nvm theres only one flavor left

    • They are listing more stock in a few hours.

    • Up loaded and the Chilli Garlic is a huge winner

      • It’s a shame I bought 1.5kg recently from deal from dr proctor. (Still not delivered)
Look forward to try your biltong in the near future. Can you consider in the future making an offer on a bundle of 100gram bags to allow us test the different flavours?

Thats such a shame , that I can assure won't happen with us. We always have great deals for our awesome customers!
