Great devices. I ended up using the github repo linked off the one in the description: https://github.com/pvvx/ATC_MiThermometer

    • Ah a much better one. Updated.

    • Smoothest custom flashing experience ever too.

    • Apologies for the noob question . In order to get these devices talking to home assistant , do I require a hub or something like that ? I have my home assistant running on a Rasp Device at present and all wifi devices are connected to it .I have not really tried a Bluetooth device vefore.

  • Can work with other brand or only xiaomi?

    • +4

The stock firmware encrypts the beacons, so you'll probably want to flash it with something like https://github.com/pvvx/ATC_MiThermometer

Then after that you can link them up to your Home Assistant instance with https://github.com/custom-components/ble_monitor (I'm assuming a Home Assistant instance with access to bluetooth. You could alternatively stick ESPHome on a ESP32 and use that.)

Or you could just keep it on your wall and look at it. That's good too.

      • I just did this to 8 of these last night.

Very easy process. Took about 2-3 minutes per device.

Couldn't get it working via my PC Bluetooth (which would have been quicker), but worked fine on my phone.

        Basic Process:

        • Run firmware website
        • Pair
        • Activate
        • Upload firmware
        • Re-pair
        • Turn face off
        • Set clock
        • Name device
        • Save config

You should probably put the model name in the description somewhere, they have a few Xiaomi branded thermometers with different screen types etc. (This one is LYWSD03MMC )

The range and battery life on these models are worse than they should be, due to Xiaomi cutting corners on the design. (They omitted placing a couple capacitors on the board, despite the PCB design having pads already for them.)

You should be able to disassemble it and solder them on, if you want. However, if you're opening them up anyway you could just add one of those tiny panels and a supercap, like one of those calculators. (https://hackaday.io/project/177910/instructions)

    • Or just look at the pictures to see it's different or even read the BG product page which you should do anyway before buying. Technically speaking there are Xiaomi, Qingping and Miaomiaoce. Unfortunately the latter 2 are incorrectly called Xiaomi.

  • +2

If it the model LYWSD03MMC then AliExpress is cheaper even with delivery….

    • +2

You'll have to provide some links. Don't forget to factor in the 10% GST added at checkout before payment.

  • Any deals for the Aqara Motion Sensor? :)

  • Love these bought 4 last time. I recommend! Got it for baby room!

    • +2

But what did you do with the other 3?

  • -1

Does it show historical data charts for tempurature?

    • Yes

    • +1

It does, but it takes a few minutes to pull up the history via Bluetooth which can be a bit of a pain (I'm not using any other gateway and just directly connecting to them via the app)

      • Thanks! Once it's loaded into your phone/cloud does it comes up quickly?

  • Any way to get it talking to HomeKit?

  • +1

Don't let water get anywhere near them

    • Thanks for the tip, I was thinking about mounting this somewhere outside the car. Might have to re-think that…

  • -1

Except to display Temperature and Humidity whatever it can do?

    • It also has a smiley face.

    • i dunno but the general consensus if you need at least 4

in case there's a localised humidity emergency maybe?

  • How accurate are the readings?

    • Pretty shit in my experience. I had to returned mine.

  • " This coupon can only be used 50 times". Looks like this is expired.

    • +9

I have added more 150 times.

  • Coupon can only be used 50 times it say, must be expired.

  • -8

Says "This coupon can only be used 50 times."

    • So why did you downvote? If the deal is expired you're meant to report the deal.

    • +1

Now you can go get one πŸ˜‰

    • +1

I have added more 150 times.

  • +6

Just under $25 for 4 on AliExpress including shipping and GST.

    • +4

Even better: $23.10 for 4 from this seller at AE all inclusive.

      • This is a better deal!

      • I'm seeing 4 for $16 shipped

        • +1

You're seeing USD and not AUD.

          • @Clear: no it was AUD, just forgot they add 10% at checkout

      • Got this, ended up being $19.20 for me.

  • just purchased from your link OP without coupon

$23.46 all up for 3 delivered

I guess who cares about a $3 coupon

    still a great deal

  • +1

I found these useless for automation out of the box. They seem to only check in with the Xiaomi hub when you open the mihome app and select the sensor. Pretty disappointed with them (bought in a previous deal). They're a nice neat little unit if you just want to read the display though.

    • +3

Migrate to Home Assistant. These are awesome, especially for the price.

      • Migrate to Home Assistant.

Sorry I am very new to this device, what actually it can do with custom firmware?

        • +5

Build dashboards based on the data coming from the sensors. I bought 4 from the last deal and built this in Home Assistant. All from the sensors except the 'BOM' and 'Wind' cards. This is just one of the tabs I have showing on a wall tablet.

Home Assistant is really not the most user friendly at first but you get there after trial and error. I am now constantly looking for new devices to add to HA :D

          • @Ads: sorry but yeah and? I'd really like to understand.

What is the use of you (and anyone on the backdoor) having this information?

  • These things are great, even better if you have Home Assistant.

  • +4

thank you for posting,I have added more 150 times.

    • Thanks rep 😘😘

    • Thanks rep, placed the order then realise this is a bluetooth only version. Any chance you can put up a deal for Xiaomi Multimode Zi-Bee 3.0 WIFI bluetooth Mesh HomeKit Smart Home Gateway? Thank you!

  • Good device. Does as it is supposed to

  • +1

    Is this good for incubators?
I have tried to incubate chicken eggs multiple times this year on 3 different incubators but keep failing due to inaccurate temperature and humidity readings on the incubator…….
So if anyone's got experience with using something like this to double check incubator temperature and humidity, can please let me know. Thank you

    • get a chook man, they're cheaper and have more precise heat and humidity controls

  • +4

So, this is a little awkward. I certainty don't have any history that would make these suggested searches, or are these popular search terms!? Either way, OMG!

    • Oh no they're based on what you've been looking at. Getting a bit lonely in lockdown? Good thing you're on Banggood.

      • +1

LOL, definitely not what I've been looking at. Even if it was my thing, it's a work laptop, I'm not quite that silly! Seems to only be when I look at that exact product. Very strange. Perhaps it has something to do with the OP's shopping habits? ;)
        Either way, quite funny.

  • I just need one. Any more deal like last time?

  • Does anyone have any tips for using these for turning on a switch to a dumb aircon when the temp reaches a certain limit?

Got them set up in home assitant but pretty new to it and trying to work out the next step.

For the moment its really neat seeing the temp and humidity in different areas of the house

    • +1

Maybe use a smart plug on the ac? Then create an automation that if it reaches x temp, then turn on smart plug

  • This one is type 1. Xiaomi official is 2.

    What is the difference?

    • +3

      Okay, type 2 is
      Smaller
longer endurance (1 battery a year)

able to communicate with other devices in Mijia network
`tell your heater, A/C, humidifier to on/off, set temperature etc.

  • Is there any smart/wifi compatible device which can show the ambience temperature as well as the outside temperature forecast?

  • No Existing Account
This email is not registered to an account. Register now to get US$100 of coupons.

Really? Do you guys get this or have I found my way to a scam

    • +1

It's not a US$100 off coupon. Rather various different coupons with different minimum spends totalling US$100.

  • I just need one or two. Anyone care to split? sydney

  • Old version is AAA right these are coin batteries operated.

Is the battery drain bad? Costs more buying coin battery that your can't charge. Also unsafe for babies and toddlers around

    • I get quite a while out of coin based, maybe 9-12 months.
And you can grab the batteries cheap off eBay rather than supermarkets/Bunnings

  • Coupon out. Can only be used 200 times. Back to 23.40 Inc shipping.

    • +1

I added last 100 more today.

  • Any chance in getting the Aqara temperature sensor @Clear?

By the way, the coupon code has been exceeded. Any chance in getting more mate?

    • I added last 100 more today.

  • I got this. Turned out to be a Chinese version as in the manual was entirely in Chinese. Tried to look up online on how to pair it with Mija home app but didn't work. Somehow it doesn't work if we select region as Australia as server for Mija home account. So just using it as non BT temperature reader. Anyone else managed to pair it smoothly?

    • Why not set your region to China in the app?

      • Tried that too but no luck. It said device may be already paired so tried resetting it but that didn't help either. At this price point, its not too bad even just as non BT sensor but just wondering if anyone else managed to pair it successfully.

        • +1

i got 3 of these and same issue on 1. Tried multiple servers, logoff/login in app multiple times and resetting it by shorting rst + gnd. i think the latter fixed it

  • Expired again?

  • +1

Got 4 pack from Aliexpress for $23 (with tax and postage included) takes ages to come but still cheaper

  • Are these better than say, these Aqara ones

Other than the lack of screen, and Zigbee vs Bluetooth.

    • +2

Aqara is certainly better for smart home integration given the use of Zigbee. This Xiaomi is more suitable for having a physical display you can see.

      • Thanks, I seem to have constant connection issues with the Aqara ones though, connected to an older Aqara camera hub.

Doesn't do much if connected directly to my Echo Plus over Zigbee either.

Was hoping something like these would just 'work', and link with Alexa/Google Home easily. Don't think that's the case though.

  • After cracking the firmware, can the Nest Hub Max be used as a Bluetooth gateway? If not, what's a popular BLE?
