    • Can be used on anything you can buy from apple.com, iTunes, the App Store, or subscriptions (Apple Music, in app purchases, etc)

      • this is gonna get juicy i suspect!

  • +5

Considering there is technically no limit on the number of Apple gift cards you can purchase to earn bonus points (as long as you purchase them in multiple transaction), my guess is that these cards will be hard to find…

    • I'll say you're right

  • +4

15% discount on new iPhones should be marvellous.

    • Oh wow that's fantastic!

  • -4

Shame that the iPhone's on the Apple store are 15% overpriced compared to JB/Officeworks, etc

    • +5

Only towards the latter half of their cycle year. When it first comes out (ie. When iPhone 13 comes out in October), and for the first 4-5 months ish I would say Apple’s price is the same as all major retailers and also the carriers.

If you’re after the latest and the greatest then this would help knock 15% off.

If you tend to like to wait till the last 4 ish months before a new iPhone comes out for deals, then nope. Just look at iPhone 12 mini’s going for 799 at retailers quite often now.

Time to pay down my ATO debt

Time to stop all BS ATO jokes!

Time to stop telling people what to do!

        • +3

time to stop people telling people to stop telling people what to do

      • +2

Time to stop all BS ATO jokes!

        yeah, it's very taxing

  • Can it be used to buy MacBook Air on the education store? Essentially make it $1100

    • +3

Yes, as long as you only redeem a maximum of eight gift cards (or add the gift cards to your Apple Account first).

    • +4

Yes, it can be used to buy anything on apple.com.
As you can see, I can use my $181.74 right now in the education store :)

      https://imgur.com/a/Z79bOsN

  • Can you use these on the edu store etc, like the mb air/pro deals that surfaced earlier this month?

If so that’s very juicy, they’re already 10-15% off rrp, and you can pay the remainder at equiv or 15% off?!

    • Yep!

      • That’s amazing

  • Can be used on Apple edu price? Extra discount?

  • It's a shame Woolies no longer let you buy/pay for these using discounted gift cards :-/

  • +1

So if I buy 10 x $200 gift cards in 1 transaction. Does that result in 60,000 bonus points?

    • Yes. It’s also not everyday that someone spends 2000 at a woolies in one go haha

    • I don’t think you’re allowed to spend more than $1000 on gift cards in a single transaction at Woolworths (because of gift card scams and fraud). Someone correct me if I am wrong!

      • I bought $2000 worth of ikea gc at wollies last year. The $1000 limit is for the employees, they need a manager to unlock/approve a transaction above $1k

    • Worth trying? If you buy 10 x $200 and they only reward 6000 points.. it would be pretty darn disappointing.

    • Limit of 10 per transaction applies

Could you not come back 5 minutes later, and buy another 10 gift cards within a second transaction (using a different rewards card)?

      • It's per Rewards card.

  • +1

Wow I just bought a macbook air M1 (base version) for $1290~ from the Apple edu store.

After seeing this, I might have to return it and use this to get it under $1100, that's insane.

    • +2

Assuming you can get the gift cards! Just hold onto it for now? And if you can get your hands on the gift cards then go ahead and do that.

No idea how popular these will be actually - will they run out just like those prepaid visa/mastercards and the JB hifi ones?

  • good to know they are also running this for google play. Google gift cards gets you access to google nest hubs, google pixel 6 etc

  • +2

I wonder if this kind of promotion will be the norm going forward. The 15% off Itunes cards were on sale monthly from Colesworth/Big W.

    • I really hope so but seems extremely unlikely. Apple isn’t really known to be generous - if this becomes regular then people will come to expect to be able to buy their stuff with at least 20% discounts (ie. gift cards + edu store access).

      • +1

It's a shame it's a bonus Everyday Rewards offer, as opposed to a cold hard 15% discount, since then Officeworks eg all won't be matching or beating this one.

        • +1

Could be done by design. Given that now the credit is not locked to just the iTunes store, as they can now be used to purchase hardware and we know how Apple doesn't make a habit of running discounts on their hardware.

      • I think it will be extremely unlikely as well. It's probably just Woolies trying to get people into their store and spend.

  • After seeing this post, finally redeemed my half priced itunes gift card from Harvey Norman years ago, actualy bought on 01/09/2012

    • Imagine if they did this today. They'd get OzBargained in record time with a lot of us buying them for discounted iPhones.

      • +1

Gerry Harvey would have a new excuse to call us professionals!!

        • he'd have a less kind name for us lol

  • Can you get cash back when using gift cards or your Apple Account Balance? Apple do 7% cash back a few times per year.

    • did you means the xmas sales ? they will give you some money back as the gift card

    • My guess is no (at least for the gift cards part of your question).

When you look at the Notes section on the Apple cashback page on Shopback, it says:

Cashback is calculated based on the Order Value, excluding any GST/Taxes, Delivery Fees, & any amount paid for with Gift Cards.

Not sure about Apple Account Balance though…

  • does anyone know if you can you use the bonus points to buy more apple cards?

    • +2

Holy shit, you're living in 2030

    • they closed the loop, so no more gift cards from bonus dollars.

    • +1

You can’t. Last time I was buying gift cards and the cashier asked if I’d like to redeem my points for $xx off and I said sure. Then she said nevermind, the system won’t allow her to apply that to gift cards purchases.

    • +1

nope the rewards $ and woolies gift card are not allowed purchase Gift card

    • From the Everyday Rewards Terms

30 On what purchase can I not enjoy my balance?
Everyday Rewards dollars cannot be enjoyed on purchases made in-store or online at a Redemption Business for all smoking products, gift cards (including Woolworths WISH Gift Cards, e-gift cards and iTunes), mobile recharge, Woolworths Mobile, travel cards, tickets, cash outs, delivery charges, donations, lottery products, Carpet Care, Pre-Order Kiosks, BIG W Photos, BIG W eBay, lay-by-fees and purchases using a StarCard or AmpolCard, a Country Age Pension Fuel Card or on a charge account.

When shopping on woolworths.com.au, your Everyday Rewards dollars can only be enjoyed on grocery orders and cannot be enjoyed on purchases made on Everyday Market from Woolworths. If your shop on woolworths.com.au includes both grocery and Everyday Market from Woolworths products, then your $10 Everyday Rewards dollars will only apply to your grocery order.

    • It's not necessarily good value but you could convert to Qantas points and then buy gift cards from them

  • +1

R we saying once cards are added to apple account, then there is no limit on number of card per transaction limit applied?

    • yes but after that you only can buying at apple store app or apple.com.au but not the physical store such as apple chadstone store

      • +1

but not the physical store such as apple chadstone store

You can't just walk in and buy using your account balance.
However, you can easily buy online, then C & C at Apple Chastone or another Apple store.

        • yup i know but sometimes like the first month the new product coming out it's more chance get it as you waiting outside store than shopping online. but otherwise C&C is working fine with me

  • Thanks OP. Great timing as I am down to my last $100 gift card (old ones). It's been a while now without a discount gift card offer. Time to stock up.

  • Sweet deal for new phones next month

  • watch these gift cards magically ✨disappear✨ by Tuesday evening. where are people hiding them 😏

    • +1

      in the tampon section

      • +1

Saw someone hide it in the freezer section.

        • +1

is that for real ???? hahahahaha that's ridiculous but sooo soo funny

        • +5

next to the frozen apple pies lol

    • too late tho lol ,sure ppl doing it from tonight

    • on eBay :P

  • Anyone know if we can use these gift cards to overcome the minimum spend limit? That is buy $50 GC to overcome $50 spend limit and get the bonus targeted points ??

    • +2

Those weekly spend for bonus points offers usually excludes Gift Cards.

      • Yeah i got 1000 points on $50 spend aka 10 % back in rewards points
Usually spend under $10 like twice a week may be worth worth spending extra $40

And the terms and condition dont say anything about gift cards

But still may be not worth taking risk

        • +2

          From Everyday Rewards Support Page:

Which products are excluded from Everyday Rewards boosters?
Everyday Rewards generally excludes purchases in Tasmania, smoking products, gift cards (including Woolworths WISH Gift Cards, e-gift cards and iTunes), mobile recharge, Woolworths Mobile, travel cards, tickets, cash outs, delivery charges, donations, Carpet Care, lottery products, Pre-order Kiosks, BIG W Photos, BIG W eBay, lay-bys fees and purchases using a AmpolCard or StarCard, a Country Age Pension Fuel Card or on a charge account, when you scan your card in-store or online at Woolworths supermarkets, Everyday Market from Woolworths, BWS, BIG W, participating Caltex Woolworths/EG Australia fuel outlets and participating Ampol# locations~.

  • So if I buy 3, I can 18k points or 9k Qantas points? Pretty good then.

    • +1

Yes, if you know how to use it for maximum value in some airlines, the value of qantas points will be better

  • Hi OP, you have shown the advertising but how were the stock levels for $200 and $100 cards? Going by the cards on the bottom left hand side of the picture there doesn't look like man, unless people are already hiding them around the store.

    • +1

There was a good stack of the $100 and $200 cards sitting below the row shown in the picture.

May be a different story by Wednesday, though.

    • just back from a store close to me like 5 mins ago, plenty of 20, 30 ,50,100 like over 20+ each type but didn't see any 200 so i guess it's depends on the store location

  • How does it work out to 15% off Apple tech if the actual gift cards themselves aren’t discounted?

    • You're getting it back through dollars off your groceries, hence the points.

      • Ah okay! Thought that was case but I just wanted to double check since I was having a brain fade haha

        • it's not reduce any price for the Gift card but they give you the woolies rewards money so you can use it kinda like save money in another way but you have to be a woolies fans not coles hhaha

    • +1

You get 15% in points you can spend on groceries at Woolies. Given that just about everyone buys groceries, this is as close to saving cash as it gets.

      • +1

Noice! Think I might just let Mum use the $$$ for her next shop :)

        • It’s a win win!!

  • So, do we get the bonus points only once per Woolworths reward account?

    • +1

well simple way just swap your rewards card and see the screen if it's got show the points then you pay if not you just cancelled checkout you won't lose money

  • So if someone can please confirm the following example for purchasing hardware:

    1. buy $200 x 10 Apple Gift Cards, spend $2000 but get $300 in grocery credits
    2. load all 10 cards on to Apple ID balance
    3. buy hardware on Apple online store + credit card to make up whatever difference
    4. pick up hardware in store

OR wait for the next 15% off Apple Gift cards and price beat at OW for 19.25% off?

    • +4

There hasn’t been a 15% off since apple merged Apple gift cards with iTunes cards.

    • Don’t hold your breath on that.

    • oh, forget the 15% off then. Looks like this deal is it, before the new hardwares come out.
Anyone can confirm the above steps?

      • I’ve bought something from apple online store and picked it up in retail using the method above, so yes

        • Why do you need to pick up? Don't they offer delivery?

          • @ChillBro: Because OzBargainers don't believe paying for delivery is a "bargain" when we can "pick it up for free"

            • +1

@Zapped: Pretty sure it's free delivery from Apple tho

              • +1

@ChillBro: Ah yes, I did a quick check. I retract my statement.
In that case - probably pickup because it's faster than waiting for shipping.
In the past when I ordered an iPad, shipping would take 1 week vs pickup next day.

  • +1

Buy $2800 in Apple Gift Cards, get 42,000 QFF points. Enough for Economy Class SYD-LAX oneway.
Buy $7400 in Apple Gift Cards, get 111,000 QFF points. Enough for Business Class SYD-LAX oneway.

Good luck trying to get permission to leave Australia, if you're a citizen or PR, though.

    • -1

I’m from North America and feel like something like this would never fly in Canada and the states. I personally cannot fathom how it’s constitutionally legal for a government to bar its citizens from leaving.

    • during and after pandemic, good luck flying international without forking out a lot more :)

      • So maybe the points do make sense… unless they devalue the points… which they technically could at any time

        • +1

better to get Rewards Dollars off shopping :)

  • +1

Just FYI, Apple has a limit of 8 gift cards per transaction.

    • +4

they already talk about that at page 1 , simple way to break it just redeem all the card on your apple account as apple balance and you can break the limited

  • Does the transaction come up as anything special or will it just be Woolworths (for card churning purposes)?

    TIA

    • +1

      Just Woolworths.
