    Just friendly warning:

    Don’t - base - your - purchasing - decisions - purely - on - Cashback

(In case you get stitched up by old mate ShopBack)

    • +4

Yep definitely… Also has happened to me a few times on cashrewards… (Actually in my case only happened on cashrewards) and each time disputes were completely useless… They tracked my click it's basically the exact time I upload the invoice etc…but they leave it for months (sometimes forever unless you follow up again)..then say murchant didn't approve….yeah ok

      • +1

exactly the same experience with Shopback, very disappointing especially when Cashrewards have always been very good when something hasn't tracked correctly and getting it sorted

    • -7

Still waiting for shopback to track for Liquorland yesterday. Agree, used a welcome email code ($10 off) anyway, not sure if it affects it

      • -1

It does if its not an approved code on their website..

        • -5

          Sure. $10 off good enough.
Should neg everyone who is saying shopback never works, it's usually good just have to follow some up. Better reliability using phone app.
Fwiw someone else's tracked using welcome code and First choice with cash rewards

          • @G-rig: Ah yes the classic "it worked for that one guy once on a different platform for a different store so it'll work for me"

    • +7

Honestly, for me Shopback has the best customer service.

I've never had an issue with follow ups, they normally get back to me multiple times.

Cashrewards has been a nightmare for me.

If you're using the service for local service, it's very easy to return. If no tracking, just cancel. They do Cashback every few weeks, you're not really losing.

      • I vouch for this. They were so nice and helped me with Amazon cashback that wasn't tracking. While people were whingeing that cashback wasn't tracked, the few people like me that actually contacted SB customer service had the issue resolved. SB staff even apologized for the trouble and thanked me for letting them know about the issue.

        • Honestly, I don't bother anymore.

If an item doesn't track I either cancel it or return it.

There will likely always be another CB, so I just detach myself from buying esp with CB involved.

          • @[Deactivated]: I don't based my purchases on CB alone. Every time there is a deal, I check my "storage" and if a top-up is required or "no stock" is available I buy it. Sometimes, when us, Victorians are not in lockdown, I book accommodation via booking.com with 10% off. It's always nice to save some money with CB.

      Don’t - base - your - purchasing - decisions - purely - on - Cashback

If that is the case then shouldn't you also advocate for no cashback deals to be posted? If it shouldn't affect your decision then what use posting do they have?

      • I’m not the ozbargain bargain police. If anything I’d rather spamazon posts be stopped instead of cashback deals - we all know THATS never going to happen so shrug.

Plus it would cut down the semi frequent drama posts in forums section where a new account has a rant where they say they wouldn’t have bought without cashback - and well, I do love a good drama post.

        Latest incident: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/642971

    • Funny how they prey on the "addictive substance" market so frequently.

    • Your not my mum I'll do what I want.!

I must be in an alternate universe as I never had an with Shopback but 2-3 times with cashrewards

    • Same here, I use cashrewards and shopback regularly and am aware of how to ensure tracking occurs.

Oddly enough, cashrewards is the one that often fails me! Usually on the larger Cashback amounts as well.

  • +17

no issue with shopback from 100+ purchases

    • +3

No idea why you got negged for stating your experience… Here's a +

    • +1

Same here every promo on here has always tracked I just turn off ad blocker completely and only have one webpage open

    • Almost all of them were okay, except 1 of them I need to email them to make through.

  • +3

Worth mentioning its click and collect only for those of us in lockdown and not close to a store.

  • Does CB track if you use employees discount? A mate got a Coles card recently and offered to order me some beer.

    • Yes. I did it for the woolies staff card

Has anyone had an issue with referral bonuses. Neither I nor 3 people that I referred to got the referral bonus became available. Shown as pending although they made purchases on the same day. Some of them were a year ago.

    • Exact same issue with two colleagues who still show as pending for me, yet made purchases (I saw them do it).

    • Check the status of them. I had a mate that just needed to put his withdrawal details in then it worked. It shows you what it’s waiting on

      • Possibly. He only put his DOB and bank details yesterday. I'll give it another week. Cheers.

    • You need to make the purchases, have them approved and they have to use the account enough to have enough spondoolas to withdraw it.

How to know if my liver is still good for another bottle of whisky?

    • Liver is the only organ that can regenirate…. So they say lol

      • +1

        Ok ill take the risk.
        Probably better than lockdown

      • +2

So I suppose don't drink faster than your liver can regen.

        • …. damn i hate logic… :( fair point

    • If serious? … talk to your doctor about getting some Liver function blood tests

  • I did receive a cashback last time lol:)

  • Unless you're buying the on special stuff first choice is 20% more expensive than Dan's….

  • Good deal for the drinkers

  • Wow great

  • +5

I'm actually becoming an alcoholic because of OzBargain…I don't remember alcohol posts being so common before lockdowns or is it that deals are becoming more frequent because of lockdowns…I'm trying to resist this one.

    • How about you order for me then?

    • Reckon.. Just like most of the crap of the stuff on ozbargain, find something to buy to save 20%, haha

      • I think my wallet is worse off on OzBargain haha!

        • Yeah not wrong, and my liver

  • Click and Collect only.

Not valid in store or for delivery.

  • +1

For those who need some recommendations, Sazerac, stiggins, diplomatico, Havana club especial, el jimador blanco, and Mr black are all excellent prices with this deal

    • Havana club especial is under $50. Kraken is a better buy at $53 as it qualifies you for the 2000 Flybuys bonus points and it's also on special at a higher discount rate than Havana.

  • +6

Never had an issue with Shopback. Over $700 back now. Mainly on Booze :/

    • I can concur

    • Same.

    • Same here, I just use C&C and cancel the order if it doesn't track

  • +1

Picked up three cartons of Tecate for $42 a piece before discounts and Flybuys credit. Should net out at less than $100 for the three.

  • +2

Balter Hazy IPA for $60 before cashback is a pretty good price. I'd buy a case if I hadn't already bought one in a recent deal and not even cracked it open yet… (because too many others to drink first…)

    • +1

$57 in Victoria, bought 1 case.

    • +1

thanks got some. i was a bit torn as i wanted to take a punt on tinnies ipa at that decent price for a 7%er, but mixed reviews and balter too good to pass by

  • +1

Spent $140 about 2 hours ago, shopback didn’t track. Can I cancel even though I have 'ready for pick-up text'?

    • +3

You don’t need to. Sometimes it will take up to 8 hours. Be patient 😀
Just make sure you can see FC in your click history.

    • Turned up yet?

Mine took several hours to come through, but all good … so long as it gets honoured at the other end!

  • Kingfisher delivered for $37 net. Not bad

  • I wonder if you pay with a CC linked to CashRewards whether you might get a CashRewards rebate as well….
1.125L Jim Beam for $58 before 20% rebate and 2000 Flybuys will make me very happy.

    • +1

Nah … the linked CC is an in store deal only.

  • Wow! just bought a bottle of aberfeldy and pepperjack and between shopback, flybuys and sign up discount first choice from $103 I end up spending about $20… feels like I've learned something through ozbargain :)

  • Thanks OP, bought but no tracking yet….hopefully no issues…

    • +1

it takes up to 8 hours or so to track

      • That helps. cheers

    • Mine hasn’t tracked yet too. Purchased at around 11:30 this morning.

      • Shopback takes longer to track than Cashrewards.

        • +1

Cashback has tracked just few minutes ago. So all good now.

  • +2

Bottle of Kraken rum for $33 after adjusted for bonus FlyBuys points and cashback

  • I followed the instructions closely, but it was still no tracking info. Do not know why.

Thank you for submitting a missing Cashback claim.
We have investigated and found that the merchant has deemed ShopBack ineligible to earn commissions on this transaction which results in us being unable to pass the Cashback along to you.
That said, we know how frustrating missing Cashback can be, and will now take additional steps to appeal on your behalf directly with First Choice Liquor.
Please allow us some time for this to happen, this process can take up to 45 days depending on how fast we hear back from First Choice Liquor.
ShopBack awards Cashback on your transactions on the basis that the merchant attributes your order to ShopBack and pays us a commission, they are the deciding party on a sale being attributed to ShopBack.
There are quite a few reasons why these orders may not be attributed to ShopBack. This includes:
    1. If a user clicks on a Honey, Cashrewards, or another chrome extension after clicking from ShopBack
    2. If other web pages (including search sites, social media, store sites, promotional/discount sites) or web browsers are opened after clicking through ShopBack
    3. Clicking through to another page from a banner, pop-up, or advertisement on the store’s webpage whilst shopping
    4. Antivirus/Cleanup or Adblocker applications block or disrupt Cashback tracking (Tracking cookies are required to track transaction)
    5. When the order falls under the merchant’s exclusions, including the use of promo codes not listed on ShopBack.
