You've got a pretty good exchange rate there at USD$60.68 to AUD$76.2. I'm getting AUD$83.

Keen to add automated blinds but the cost adds up quick,

Have 5x blinds alone in living room

It does add up - and just be aware that I think this model requires a wifi dongle for each blind, so 5 blinds = 5 dongles that all need a power outlet.

They do have another model that works off a hub, so one hub can run many blinds over wifi. It was more expensive the last time I looked.

I have three blinds (not this model) and they each have a dongle, so it was a pain finding somewhere to run them.

Also the wifi dongle on mine connects to the blind via RF just like the remote, but at 915mhz which is not the usual in Australia. (The blind motor itself does not have wifi.)

      • A power outlet or a USB outlet?

        • USB to run a dongle that sends the open/close commands.

Power to occasionally charge the unit (6mths).

You can also get a $5 6 channel remote which'll skip the USB shit (but you lose the automation functions). Really surprising they don't have a 6 channel USB dongle (maybe it can be firmware flashed?)

          • @TogTogTogTog: My point was you could buy a multi Port USB charger or hub and plug the dongles into that, so it doesn't need that many power outlets.

I use the ozsmartthings motors which I have automated via a Broadlink RF bridge that run on rechargeable batteries too.

            • @Domingo: Because the dongles take up a fair bit of space, you can't use all the USB ports in a multi-port charger (one covers at least two ports on my charger). I ended up buying a couple of y-adapters so I could plug three into adjacent ports.

The RF frequency of these means you can't use a Broadlink or Sonoff bridge that operates at 433mhz. Unless this model is different, their blind motors operate at 915mhz. I guess the Ozsmartthings motors use 433mhz which is more user friendly.

            • @Domingo: Mind sharing? I can only find some $200 ones.

Basically about to pull the trigger on two automatic blind openers…

  • OP, any deal on the ZigBee model? Interested in getting 7 of them, thanks

  • How often do these have to be charged?

    • This one comes with solar panel, I suspect you don't have to worry about it, just keep it connected.

I got the ZigBee non solar model back in mid July and I have only charge it at the beginning of owning it.

Just a normal usage, open in the morning and close at night (plus a couple of times to show off the 'magic' of opening the blinds to my family hands free lol)

      • Thanks, ordered 2 for the bedroom, see how they go!

      • Can you just confirm this link model is regarchable as I can't see it there mentioned, like I don't have to have the power plugged in the whole time

        • Yes in the photos in the listing it says "Built-in battery" and says it comes with Charging Cable (and also Solar charger too).

  • +2

Give us the ZigBee in the $60s and I'll load the house up.

  • How quiet is the motor?

I have the Kogan one and the motor is too loud

    • You'll hear it for sure, but it isn't obnoxious.

Of course, it all depends on your definition of "too loud".

  • How is this one different to Zemismart Tuya WiFi Roller Shade Driver DIY Roller Shutter Motor Smart Life Alexa Google Assistant Voice Control, Blind Driver,Chain Driver -
    M515EGWT? Specifically for vertical blinds.

    • The one in the listing has a battery and solar charger (can also charge/power off 240V).

      • Thank you.

  • Ordered 2 what's the shipping eta like? Wasn't mentioned on purchase

    • I ordered 2 and have received a tracking number from PFLogistics which is an Australian courier (even though the website says they ship from China).

About 18 months ago I bought 15 or so lights from Zemismart and they took 3-4 weeks out of China. Received a faulty one and it was replaced with one from an Australian address. This leads me to believe they have an Australian warehouse and that you and I may receive these within the week.

  • Cannot work out how multiple units will work together. I've got vertical blinds with two bead strings (left and right). Do I need two WIFI USB dongles? Where do they get plugged into? What about the remote control? Can order one kit with 6ch remote and one without? Will I be able to setup the remote to control both?
    Thank you.

  • I have this one which mostly works from the included solar panel. I have a large blind that gets used a bit more frequently and that needs to be plugged into the power point. These work with Alexa and don't need another hub. You just name each blind and say something like, "Alexa, living room blind all the way down"
