Rewards goal is $30 though? That's how they get you.

    • +1

      THIS.

    • +6

Will the $20 expire by certain date? I remember last time I lost $18 as I couldn’t reach $30 by the deadline.

      • Does this deal deserve a vote down 👎

        • -1

          RUOK ?

        • You made a valid point, I was planning to buy things to accumulate to $110, but after reading the $20 reward cannot be redeemed until reaching $30, as brandogs say, that's how they get you to spend more. I plan to use the zip pay with jb deal and get $30. Correct me if I am wrong, after reading online, $30 combine with $20 reward from big w, you can only withdraw in multiple of $30 from rewards not $50.

      • I have been trying to look into expiry date of rewards balance but its very unclear. How to see that ?

      • Rewards expire 12 months after they were add to your balance, as stated in T&C.

    • +3

A lot of users will already have rewards credit from this 2% cashback deal, which ends tomorrow. You could also use that to top up to $30 if you have a $0 balance if you are quick.

They also have an ongoing cashback program which appears to go towards your rewards balance, some users also have a promo $5 cashback for paying 4 bills with zip which will go towards it.

      • How do you then get to $30 after the $20 from this deal? Is there another way to top this up when the 2% deal expires tomorrow?

        • +1

Mentioned in the last paragraph on that previous comment about on going cashback program.

          See screenshots:

          1, 2

These cashback items appear to go towards the same rewards balance, going by the wording mentioned in the JB spend $150 get $30 back deal post and this post.

Likely there would be other promos in the future as well.

        • You can generate a virtual card with your Zippay account & use it in store to get 2% on any purchases excluding food & petrol.

    • Last time we got them on Jb hifi … this time they are trying to get us … big NO.

    • -1

Holy crap thanks a bunch, THAT INFO SHOULD BE IN THE TITLE.

  • +6

I wonder if you can stack it with this deal

    • +2

Should be able to, one is a retailer discount, the other is a credit on your finance account.

Why not make it a trifecta or quadrella of deals and use discount Big W gift cards and get cashback from Shopback as well!

      • Spend 110, then get 10 discount, so still reaching threshold of 100 to get zip reward, next question is what I should get from big W.

      • Also don’t forget to link your Big W account with your Woolworths Everyday Rewards card to get those WW points.

      • If that is the case, then add in any targeted Everyday Rewards offers to really push the savings it to the max!

        • I got 2 offers, spend $100 get 1000p, spend $150 get 1500p. Normally they stack so
$150 purchase, pay $140, $20 credit, $12.50 worth of points. So $150 worth for $107.50 plus any gift card discounts etc. Now it would be perfect if they had a decent discount on Lego sets

      • +1

@djkelly69 can you explain how to use discount Big W giftcards to pay, when you’re supposed to pay with ZipPay ? Thanks

        • Yeah I did realise that shortly after but couldn't edit in time.

Not sure if you can split payments with Big W and put $100 on Zip and the rest on giftcard assuming you don't spend exactly $100?

          Otherwise only a triple discount… :-(

  • Am I the only one that’s gotten declined from zip :( ?

    • Have you been able to find out why?

Just to note, I successfully signed up yesterday for the JB deal and the process went quite smoothly. It did mention that they might do a credit check and I also connected my PayPal account on sign up. (Unsure if the Paypal connection makes things easier, there was an option to connect Facebook as well but I didn't do that.)

      • no, rather confused tho, decent credit score. dont have any loans(Wonder if thats the reason?) and a full time job with a decent wage. Not that they would know that.

    • I've heard it's a bad idea to connect Facebook when signing up for Zip. Apparently if your friends have a bad repayment history or you joined Facebook too recently they use that to decline users.

  • In addition to this, you’d have to spend a minimum of $500 on tap and pay transactions excluding groceries and fuel in order to get your $30.

    • That ends on the 31st (tomorrow). I wonder if there will be a more decent offer once that one expires.

Pay bills or pay bills in advance at the post office, buy gift cards at post office, buy gift card in prezzee app (via google pay/apple pay). It's pretty easy to do.

      • Bills at the post office is an easy way to do it, however my preference is to just pay bills online as it’s not worth potential health risks for a measly 2% especially since I’m in one of the hot zones.

I’d strongly advise against purchasing gift cards in store or through Prezzee. You can usually find gift cards discounted at a greater than 2% rate anywhere else.

If you do end up purchasing gift cards just to reach the $30 mark, you’re better off buying a wish gift card discounted at 5% and paying with that anyway. This is because your blended discount becomes 5% since you would have to spend a further $500 to get the additional $10 to redeem the $30 cash back:

        ($20+$10)/($100+$500)=5%

        • Yeah I was more talking about something like this deal for Prezzee or the ones you linked in the description, not buying gift cards at full price. Having said that, something like Bunnings gift cards at 2% is generally pretty good.

          • +2

@hamza23: if you’re stacking discounts on top of one another then fair enough. I’ve barely been able to utilise the 2% cash back this time round because of the restrictions.

        • THIS

So many hoops to jump on to get an effective discount of 5% from a $600 purchase.

I dunno about this, but I'll just wait for a 10% off TCN gift cards instead.

Good point there that this is really not worth the risk of getting the virus.

The problem is with Zip speed to process payment. Even Bpay to Zip takes 3-4 days to clear instead of the next day. This really limit how much I can use with Zip, such a stupid system that discourage ppl from using their service. I can't pay back with credit card until the pending transaction is posted. Realistically I can only use their service like 3 times per week because of this.

If the pending transaction is cleared at night and you paid back using your credit card and your BPay payment is not yet in since they just randomly process BPAY transaction then your account is even being blocked for overpayment the next morning. I don't know how Zip manage this stupid policy. The shitty part is that I can't even work out when the BPay payment will be in. Usually it should be in the next business day, but the stupid ZIP doesn't do it in time and it sometimes take 3-4days to show up.

It means I don't even want to spend anything with them today since I can't get the amount round up by tmr because I just have no way to pay back the balance.

      • Does the Auspost charge a fee for paying utility bills at the post office?

        • +1

It depends on Utility company not Auspost.

        • +1

Aus Post don't but the company you are paying might. Check the payment options on the bill, any fees should be listed there. The only 1 I've come across personally is Origin Energy, you will see on the bill:

          IN PERSON
          Pay at any Post Office+*

Payment processing fee of the higher of $2.70 or 0.49% may apply (excl NSW).

          • @hamza23: With AGL they have this:

A $2 over the counter fee may apply when paying in person at Australia Post.

            https://www.agl.com.au/help-support/energy/billing-and-payme…

The word “may” doesn’t give me confidence. But I guess as long as Zip’s 2% cashback is higher than the $2 fee, you still profit.

            • +2

@ilovefullprice: I did a little more digging and found this:

If you pay your bill over the counter at Australia Post, you may incur a fee of $2.00 per payment (GST incl.) excluding NSW customers. Some customers may be exempt based on their product and location.

The following customers will be exempt from over-the-counter (OTC) fees:

              • Staying Connected Customers
              • Non-Energy Customers
              • Deceased Accounts
              • Ombudsman Accounts
              • Concession Customers
              • Life Support Customers
              • Customers receiving large print bills
              • Collective and some multisite customers
              • Premium Builders
              • Some specific products
                Legacy accounts (AGL and PD)
              • ACTEW customers
              • Active Retail Fee Exclusion lock

If you look into the fee schedules for NSW customers, you’ll see that AGL generally charges 0.45% for debit/credit card payments through Australia Post channels (which I assume include in-store or online via PostBillPay). I assume these fees don’t apply for the bullet-point list of customers above, but that is something that would need to be confirmed with AGL.

              • @WookieMonster: Thanks. Info on all these links look either incomplete or confusing. Yeah, best to confirm with support.

  • +1

so it wont be down to $80 instantly if I spend $100 right?

    • +1

yeah, you need $30 minimum reward credit

  • +1

isnt it still a $30 cap to redeem

    • So if you spend 100 by zip, zip return $20 reward but need at least $30 in the reward before you can claim it on zip repayment, is that how it work?

  • +3

And I got an offer to spend $80 online at Big W and get 2000 points.

  • Is gift card purchase eligible for this offer?

    • Wondering the same

    • +1

Don't think you can buy gc online though

  • what kind of bills can be paid using zippay at the post office? is council rate possible to be paid using zippay at the post office and get 2% back?

    • +1

Anything that has post billpay and accepts credit cards should be fine. Also check to see if the merchant charges any fee for paying at the Post Office, that is something you'll have to take into account.

Council rates, electricity bills, water bills, gas bills, registration (at least in SA), car insurance, home insurance are all potential options.

      • Is that max 2% cashback except offers

      • Ok, i see the bill pay on the council bill, I might give this a try and see how it goes. thanks

  • do we need activate this offer in zip or is it auto?
also, can we do partial payment at bigW, say $100 by zip remianing by GC?

    • I think so

  • Thanks. getting $42 of value from my $110ish purchase. $20 Zip Credit + $10 GET10 promo + 2400 Everyday Rewards Points.

    • `^ I missed that $10 extra bucks by 10 mins . Edit : Not eligible in a dummy run :)
      I have a get 2000 pts spend $40 exp 5 Sep and a spend $80 get 2000 pts exp12 Sept .
I assume with this purchase I just did wiped out the 1st one .

    • Is the $2400 everyday rewards targeted? What item did you get?

      • +1

yes, 2300 points targeted points plus base points. ring fit adventure this time.

  • +2

dont forget shopback 0.5% cashback, better than nothing :)

    • Damn I forgot lol

    • all for 50c?

      • +1

You're on OzBargain… 50c means a lot to people here lol

  • +2

For those targeted, combine with 4000 Rewards pts for $40 online etc

    • I already used the offer on No More Heroes 3.

      • With multiple rewards accounts - got 3 of those offers - still to use.
(Probably will be better off for me to just use all 3 for $60 credit on $120, than to bother with $20 Zip credit (needs another $10 to redeem) + $20 Rewards credit on $100 spend.)

  • +3

What to buy that is practical with no regrets???

    • I want to know too, but sometime not spending give you no regrets.

    • +3

a whole lot of laundry detergent

      • I was thinking of like $100 of undies

        • +3

dont stockpile that much undies, could get fatter/thinner, elastic degrade depending on how long your undies replacement cycle is, etc etc

    • +3

This is just a bizarre mentality. Literally no idea what to buy, but you must spend. How bout keep the money in your pocket and you've saved even more…..

      • +2

        Spend $0, save 100%

      • Cmon my dunnie paper wall was getting a gab so I thought I'd fill it up .
There a nice finish to get to $100 with Cadbury Dairy Milk Giant Caramello Koala 35g at 50c

    • My friend bought this, https://www.bigw.com.au/product/breville-nespresso-vertuo-ne…
They have $100 cashback at this moment.

      • $80 according to T&Cs

  • I am confused with zip rewards.
If I don't reach $30 by 5th September then do I lose these $20 rewards?
The Tap & Earn 2% offer ends tomorrow and as * haven't reached $30 will forfeit all cashback instead of it carrying over. So where can I find such stipulation for this offer? What date will I forfeit the $20 if I don't reach $30?

    • +2

I think this time the remaining reward will carry on for 12 months. This is like a long term reward program, previous cashback is one time promo. Check the Reward program T&C.

  • Made $109 purchase but didn't receive $20 reward in zip. I thought it appears immediately?

    • It just happened to my husbands account wth. I hope it’ll show soon

    • same problem. no $20 in rewards

  • Did anyone receive the $20 after the doing the purchase?

    • Judging by the comments above, some people have not received the $20…

      • All good we got it

        • how long did it take for your reward to come through?

          • @RQNinja: I checked about 3 hours after initial purchase (not sure when it came through exactly though)

  • Thanks op. I’ve got $30 reward sitting there from the JB Hifi deal and if I add this I’ll have $50.

    • +1

You can redeem 30, and 20 will still be there. You need to find yourself another 10 to redeem all.

      • Thanks. Never redeemed on there before. 👍

        • +1

Just redeem as soon as you can. I just deduct from outstanding balance. Currently there is 2% back and to reach the $30 I bought prezee gift cards using Apple Pay. That way I can exchange for what I need (for example I use for food shopping or Amazon mostly).

          • @fozzie: Just redeemed the JB Hifi $30.

What happens if I return an item or they don’t have stock of the item?

            • +1

@ne-us: Well you get refunded on the zip. I suppose you would keep the discount too

  • You can use a $10 voucher (on a $100 spend) from LittleBirdie to stack.

  • Here is something probably worth buying for some, seems the cheapest price currently.

i missed read the email and thought it was instore too so brought a gift card instore with tap and pay, got 2% back but not the $20 credit. i guess you cant buy big w gift cards online as it wont count it takes you to https://giftcards.woolworths.com.au/?

    • i missed read the email and thought it was instore too so brought a gift card instore with tap and pay, got 2% back but not the $20 credit.

      You’re right, it’s online only.

i guess you cant buy big w gift cards online as it wont count it takes you to https://giftcards.woolworths.com.au/?

      Correct.

      • Zip and Afterpay block buying gift cards at Woolies and Coles physical stores right ?

I've missed out on doing a lot of abuse .

  • Update: BigW had to refund partial order due to unavailability, Lost Zip Rewards Prorated.
Placed an online order and then half of it was refunded due to unavailability. What happens?
Will Zip Reward still hold or…
I got prorated redemption minussed. Technically got the same % off but still a bit disappointed
Now starting to feel I should retire as a wannabe bargainer, same thing happened with my JB order with Zip too.
