Last and (almost) best of the 1155 LGA 9th gen CPUs. If you've alredy got a decent cooler and an 1155 + 9th gen compatible board. Saves you buying an AM4 board for a 5600X (probably faster in games and definately more efficient) however 8/16 5.0 GHz CPU should last till the next gen AMD Chiplet CPUs come around…

  If you don't have a 9th generation motherboard or want integrated graphics, the almost identical 10700K can be found a bit cheaper, and the 11700K has already been down to the mid-$400s a couple of times. 12th gen later this year may also be a big step up.

  Although not a great deal overall (compared to newer hardware), it is a great deal and probably at the end of life cycle for those who still own 9th gen motherboards and want to upgrade to the most capable CPU in that generation before it runs out of stock everywhere and its price goes up even in the used market.

    I have a 9700k and as far as I can see, the difference in gaming performance is so little that it's a more economical choice to upgrade to ryzen 5000 + a new mobo.

      Agree. I've spent $469 and upgraded to the 5600x and a mobo which is slightly more than the OPs post for a CPU

        Totally agree guys. I've got a 9th gen i5 so for me this is a quick CPU swap and it will last me at least till the end of the year/next year. I figure my next upgrade will be a totally new PC at this point so this will see me out till hopefully the next gen AMD stuff is out and readily available. Totally not worth it for anyone without a 9th gen compatible board

  Would have been tempted, but fortunate for my wallet’s sake it sold out. My overclocked 8700k is probably good enough for some time anyway.
