      5700xt and no such issues

      • Used to have 5700XT, I do have minor issue, when using Chrome, sometimes the whole screen goes black, and I also have the UI Layout, it's confusing, I can't believe over the last 10yrs AMD still having drivers issue.

    • +6

Got 6700xt and i dont have any issue aswell

    • +6

      580, 5700xt and 6800 no issues

    • +9

Sounds like an end user problem to me.
      Lagging? lol.

      • -1

No mate, the issue is real, the just just telling you his experiences.

    • +3

Are you sure it's not your PC?

    • +6

      PEBKAC maybe?

    • +1

I have seven AMD cards over the last three generations, the drivers are generally fine. Not perfect (still doesn't like different refresh rates across multiple monitors on fine cards etc).

This is a problem with your install, or gpu.

    • Pebkac or obvious troll

      Maybe both?

Either way, this is a decent deal given current market. Have the Asrock 6900xt, no complain of product

      • Not trolling just telling you my experience.

Had a 1060 and more recently 3060 with no issues.

Why when moving to a 6600 xt I start experiencing lag, stutter, refresh rate issues and radeon software automatically OC'ing the card?

        • +1

There is allot that can screw with a new gpu installation if you did'nt do a proper format of your system or driver wipe.

Screen tearing = check if enhanced sync + freesync is enabled. Also make sure VRR in windows is disabled. Windows has a habit of switching VRR on by default after updates. (which it tends to do at random points sometimes). Im so paranoid about this that i disable 'fullscreen optimisations' in windows on everygame i have.
Monitor lag = input lag? Not sure what type of lag you're describing but i'll cover a thought.
The radeon re-live feature running can tie up HDD performance quite allot.

The Wattman does not do overclocking by default but it will repor a boost alglorithym all GPU's have these days. (including nvidia). Wattman that doubles as a reporting tool to radeon control center.

Hopefully you werent using a third party program like MSI afterburner with your 6600XT i've read that can really screw with the operation of the card.

    • Rx574, never had issue

    • Your CPU is probably set with too little voltage, causing calculation errors and the PC to "hang/stutter" momentarily while it recalculates to recover from the error. More and more CPUs are coming with too aggressive settings stock out of the box. It is similar to Ryzen 5000's idle reboot problem where due to trying to run as low a voltage as possible to save power while idling, the CPU just crashes out and reboots.

      • Stock ryzen 3600 so not sure what's going on here

        • +1

Yeah it happens. As software gets more complicated and sophisticated, the flaws of the CPU get revealed. There are many people complaining about bugs, instability and crashes with Flight Simulator 2020 for example, a lot of those issues can be resolved by just giving the CPU an extra 0.025V.

    • Always has amd gfx cards from ati days, newest build I finished late last year.. First time on all amd platform with x570 and 5600x… Also scored a 5600XT late last year cheap…

Although I had some little issues with bios/agesa and CPU boost early on the gpu side I have had 0 issues and drivers have been updated anytime there was an update available… This was also the case with my previous r9 270 gfx card.. Not saying others haven't had issues that's well documented but the problems overall have been ironed out it seems.

    • I have this exact card and no issue

    • I've had nothing but bad luck with AMD GPU's as well. Drivers regularly don't work correctly and kill performance, physical hardware has degraded quickly or become faulty in a short period. Experience seems to differ across people, but I will not be an AMD customer again from my personal experience.

    • 6800XT no issues here. Your issue could be other components, celeron cpu and 2gb of ram perhaps? Maybe viruses from visiting too many naughty sites? Or pebkac as others have stated.

    • Even coming from a Vega56 and i didnt have issues with drivers.. Sorry for your experience i guess.

  • This or ASRock OC phantom? It's about $100 more for me.

    • +6

This. The XFX 319s are the best cards this gen.

      • +1

The XFX have 2 X 8pin vs ASRock have 3x8pin. Not sure if extra pin is better for stability

        • +2

It won't affect stability, and the 3 pins would only be necessary for extreme overclocks. The card's TDP is 300W, 2x8 pin allows 375W including the 75W from the PCIe slot, which is enough for most overclocks at the maximum voltage allowed without a BIOS/Powerplay mod.

Edit: Nvm that was average power, not peak, which is about 350W. 3x8 pins will help for pretty much any overclock. I personally wouldn't spend the extra $100 for 3 power inputs so I can overclock my already top of the line card but it depends on what you want to do with it.

      • I have the Phantom and no issues, but I would've paid extra for this.

      • Not this model, the asrock 3 8 pin is better

        • +1

Why? I always thought XFX were one of the better manufacturers.

          • +1

@Wally Simmonds: Cards with more power connectors have a 99% chance of giving better performance, since they are not power limited

      • I'm currently running a 2x8 pin GPU and GPU-Z shows me that I am limited by power, it is already drawing the maximum possible, but I am only undervolting (no where near the upper clock limit). So based on this, I would always go for a 3x8 pin if the same GPU had both 2 and 3 plug options.

        • Are you sure it's not just the software power limit rather than not enough power? Most AMD cards come out of the box with their power limits a little lower than what the card needs. In the tuning tab try increasing the power limit and see if the issue persists.

          • @Void: Yup, power limit maxed out in Afterburner and GPU-Z shows both 8-pin plugs drawing close to 150W each. In this situation, I was running ray tracing, so using all the different cores on the GPU that would normally sit idle on a non-ray tracing benchmarks.

            • @Sleepycat3: That's interesting. I don't understand why any board partner would ship a card that can't even power itself at stock.

              • @Void: Cost reduction and card size/length. My card was one of the cheapest 3080 on the market at launch, and also one of the shortest at 285 mm. The compromise was only 2 power connectors.

    • The ASRock OC has been on sale for this price a couple of times in the past while.

  • Would the power of this card compensate for the weak of AMD on ray tracing?
aiming 30 minimum fps in 2k resolution

    • +4

I don't know how you can play a game at 30fps. The 6900xt is the best 1440p card on market. It will do ray tracing above 30.

      • I was played on a low-end rig for a long time. Haven't really experience high fps. I guess I should be fine with 30+

      • my reference 6900xt does about 35-40fps in cyberpunk with ray tracing (only shadows and reflections)

        • +2

That is pretty much worse case scenario as far as games go

    • +1

Theoretically yes, but I won't recommend a 2k ray tracing use case for this card. A 3070 Ti might do better in RT and it's cheaper….

      • I was thinking about 3070ti, but not many titles having ray tracing at the moment and this card is much better at this price (given 3070ti is now $1650)
I just want to know if I had a chance to experience ray tracking with this card.

        • For 2k I recon you should be fine but do check some credile reviews on YouTube for your specific titles.

        • +3

I would have thought if you seriously want to try ray tracing in games, it's best to stick to nvidia RTX 3000 series cards.

        • Grab the list of all titles in the past few years that have ray tracing, and see how many of them you would buy and play. That number vs the total number of games you want to play would be roughly the proportion of ray tracing use.

I found the only game that benefitted from ray tracing was Control. All other games, I couldn't see the big improvement with ray tracing on for most other games that I play (Cyberpunk, The Ascent, COD Cold War). Furthermore, most games which are cross platform on Xbox and PS5 would most likely not have full blown ray tracing since the GPU on them are also AMD-based.

Disclaimer: I have an RTX 3000 series card.

    • +1

      Go for NVIDIA 3070ti.
DLSS, Ray tracing + mine RVN.

    • +1

Yes the price is not a bargain, but it's probably the less yucky poo sandwich you can buy at the moment.

  • Very good card and acceptable price. but my case can probably only support a card of up to 30cm…

    • +1

      Never buy tiny cases.

  • I've put in an order for the MSI 3080 ventus oc LHR for $1799, in the back of the queue and there's no stock and no ETA.

I'm thinking about using the card for mining a bit and then gaming occasionally.

got NR200 case and the curved samsung g7 for monitor.

any suggestions on if I should make a switch? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

p.s. running the cosair SF750, will it be okay for this car?

    • +8

      Wrong card for mining

      • Thanks for the reply. I forgot to mention, that gaming performance is still the top priority, I only play occasionally because I don't actually have too much time to play, so thought I'd use the card to mine on the side. In this case, while being the wrong card for mining, for my purposes though, better than the 3080 LHR?

        • you don't want LHR or "v2" as they have limited the hash rate for mining

          https://au.pcmag.com/graphics-cards/88845/software-restores-…

It may be difficult to find one that's not LHR but they're still around

          • @Magicmannn: LHR 3080 can still get around 60~ mh/s which is comparable to 6900xt, even more if you aren't mining etherium

        • +1

Usually the Techfast deals come up with non-LHR 3080s.

    • This car is too long to fit in NR200. And 6900xt has the same hash rate as 6800, but use more electricity.

    • +1

Mining-wise theyre probably about the same since you ordered a LHR card, I'd pay the extra and get the AMD card unless you're into RT.

  • Paid this much for my 3080. Nice

  • Nice find. Same price or lower than some RX 6800 XT.

  • I'd love this card but I've been using RTX voice lately and I don't think I can give it up. It's so good for zoom/teams calls for work and for gaming with friends.

Guess I'll have to wait for a decently priced 3080 (hoping for <$1500 at some point in the next six months) to upgrade from my 2080 super (want to get rid of it before resale prices drop much more on 2080s)

    • +1

I'd love it too, mostly for this price, but my LG OLED (1st world problems coming here) doesn't like Freesync for VRR but only takes G-Sync… So waiting for a 3080 at an acceptable price… KEEP THE HOPES UP!!!

  • $2000? What's that in the grand scheme of things..?

I need to take a knee and remember; this is more than my PC combined. How can I argue against that?

    • +1

Yeah buying ain’t great atm but I’ve recouped whole expense from mining on one card. Soo a free upgrade.

  • +2
    • Well AORUS Master is supposed to be expensive, but yes ASUS should not be charging so much for their mid-tier cooler.

      • +1

I've tried the Aorus (and their Gamig model) when they were relased, and cooling-wise it performs far worse (junction temp of 100-105+ whilst gaming leading to slower clock, erratic performance) than than the XFX (j-temp of ~85 in the same case) which I also own.

Back in the RX580 days Gigabyte somehow lost their way with AMD cooling design (reduced physical size of their cards, over performance), and haven't really been able to design a 1/2 decent solution since.

Whatever cooling, or other design changes they make/provide, there's little justification for carging $1k+ more for the same GPU. They're simply fleecing customers due to the shortage.

    • Funny because the XFX 319 coolers are also the highest performimg and quietest this gen.

  • -4

This card is faster (according to this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVCt_BdseFU) and cheaper so isn't this a better deal?!

This is a 6900XT, your link is the 6800XT!

      • +3

        Apologies, cheers

    Good price!

If you take a look at the recent crypto prices, it's started to go up again.

GPU prices are not coming down anytime soon. Get in now if you need a new GPU.

    • My thoughts exactly, ordered this earlier today

  • How does this compare to the ASRock RX 6900 XT Phantom Gaming D?

Has been on sale for similar prices recently.

    • Believe this is meant to be slightly better but havent done any research. I have the ASRock and it certainly runs cool enough in my setup.

    • Xfx is quieter and runs cooler

  • I bought this when everyone was saying too expensive waiting for prices to come down hehe
