  Coles online has been testing my patience. I have done few online orders and have ordered the specials. Most of the time, its out of stock. My latest order that will be delivered later today has 21 changes. Mostly specials that are on sale. Either out of stock or substituted with whatever the personal shopper feels like. Example, last week i ordered large gloves for gardening and they have sent medium. This time, i will be seeking credit as items are not delivered as per the quantity ordered and higher price is being charged for substitution.

    My latest order that will be delivered later today has 21 changes Mostly specials that are on sale.

    For this reason I always try to order at the end of a weekly cycle, e.g. Tuesday, for delivery on a Thursday/Friday. This way you still get the products on special, but way less chance of empty shelves at the time they pick the items (as they will have usually reverted back to full price at this point). I think fresh specials change 2 days later, so they might still be out of stock even with this method.

        I order on Tuesday for pickup Sunday and they still say out of stock for some items (which i allowed extra days o restock)

    They say they do not charge a higher price for substitution. Also, you can elect not to have items substituted at the checkout page. I have had problems with mandarins. Twice I have ordered at 88c each supposed to work out at $2.90 per kg. Very small mandarins arrived price worked out over $4 per kg. I thought these per item prices were a guide. Now I just try to order veg and fruit that come set weights. I can understand that they try to make things easier for the packers and appreciate that click and collect costs them money but they should make sure that the weight of the individual items corresponds to the per kg price, at least roughly.

      Yes, the fruit and veg is a bit of a gamble if not in prepacked punnets/bags. But I assumed they'd weigh the actual and ensure the amount is >= the amount you paid? We recently ordered 4 lebanese cucumbers and got 6, but they were tiny - basically large gherkins. I should have weighed them to see if that was true.

      We don't allow substitutions anymore, after our order for a regular sized can of spray canola oil was replaced with a tiny can of spray olive oil.

        Exactly that is what I assumed too but ripped off twice. I do not think they weigh as the whole thing is designed to allow them to pack faster. Also, gamble with substations you can do better and much worse too. I am going to try what cheeseandbacon suggested fir my next shop, Sick of emailing them to get points because they were OOS.
