  • So this doesn't have a built-in modem?

    • No modem.

Anyone know if this just creates a new network extensio or actually extends the existing network?

Coz my current extender is just like a new network eg." WIFI-EXT" so, everytime I head upstairs I have to change networks manually!!

    • Why not always connect your wifi to extender then?

      • +1

Because then they have to manually set it back when downstairs…

Unfortunately when I first walk into the house it connects to the main network. By the time I go upstairs there is 1 bar, but still connected. So I need to connect to the extended network. Same deal when returning downstairs.

Limitation of old tech unfortunately. I ended up paying a bit more and got a mesh network. No more switching access points :)

        • +1

That's a hassle. These wifi-extenders create new networks as opposed to creating the existing network. You'll need to get a wifi mesh system instead.

          • @waterbottled: Yeah right, I'll have to look into this wifi mesh thing. Assumed that an extender would simply EXTEND a signal! Thanks

            • @Thirtyfourfifty: my Xiaomi extender did 'extend' the network by having the same Wifi ID & password, but the devices by default would not look for the new one until the old connection is severed.
