Pretty decent. It will mostly depend on the receiving side, I'm not sure what the raspberry pi is like. But I have seven around a two story house and they are all received quite regularly.

    • +2

Pretty good. I have 3 spread out in ~15m radius from a Gigabyte Brix running hass.io. Haven't missed a beat and ordered some more to play around with. You can set them up like this

  • +5

I'm so old fashioned that I prefer the previous round model with AAA batteries. Honestly, why would they bother changing one that was perfect.

    • I have that, is it Bluetooth? I only bought it to look at

      • +1

        Yes

    • smaller footprint (have both the round and newer square one)

the round one came with a magnet clip too. this one just with a sticky tape

  • +1

Grabbed 4 previously, these are cheaper will grab another 3.

  • Is this to connect directly to smart phone ? Or is there any bluetooth to wifi recommended ?

  • Thanks OP was looking for it to connect to my MagicMirror

  • +1

Thanks OP been meaning to get some of these to check humidity of filament in storage.

  • +1

    Thanks
    Bought
    Forgot to put in code
    Bummed

    • omg

    • +1

      Cancel order again asap

    • +1

It's decent price regardless and Coupon only saves US$2 (AU$2.75) so not a big deal. Not sure it would be worth the time and hassle of canceling and reordering just for that.

      • I saw save more than that with my login

        • How much. Mine showed as $US10.99 using OP link and with code US$8.99 i.e. $2 difference.

          • @Borg: Now I saw A$13.65 but I remember during I ordered I saw $17.xx but after code the same $12.xx.

        • it saves USD $10!

    • +1

Hahaha I did the same thing, damn

  • +1

Damn i ordered a pack last week on Ali. Guess i gotta buy another to average down now. Hope the bluetooth range is good as i dont run any sort of central hub at the moment, maybe i need a xiaomi gateway?

  • After cracking the firmware, can the Nest Hub Max be used as a Bluetooth gateway? If not, what's a popular BLE?

    • You can get an ESP8266 to act as a BLE to MQTT converter and then use home assistant to view it.

  • Thanks OP. I bought 3 packs for USD$24.16 total with no insurance.

    • +1

USD24.16? We are talking about A$12.20 here or you mean 3x 3 packs

      • maths is hard

  • +1

Now I have one for each room of the house :)

  • +1

Coming up as $13.39 AUD. Any ideas?

    • +1

      Untick shipping insurance?

  • I received shipped email estimate Oct22 🤪

  • What are these for?

Your phone does all that for you.

Don’t get it. Anyone explain? Thanks

    • +2

How does your phone do all of this for you?

    • +1

This is relative humidity. Not weather.com data but data from the room the sensors in.

      • +1

        Temp & Humidity.

  • +1

    is there a rechargeable version?

  • +1

Coupon expires. Used up after 1000 uses

    • Yep gonee

  • Beware, they are tiny

  • just bought for 9.19USD, with the $2 off for first timers and insurance
    so about $13 AUD

not bad at all. beats waiting for the next coupon sale

  • Coupon gone but it's on flash sale now for $13.66AU

Flash sale looks to end about 5PM Friday AEST

  • Code can only be used 1000x and was not applied to my order. Still a bargain. I ordered some and hope I can use them. A bit confused about it being BT, but will have a play and discover how I can use it.

I like to have it turn on my heater when rooms get way too cold when I'm not home (is under 16C say…)…

    • is it smart enough to do that? turn on another applicance at a set temp?
or is it another device that this would send signal to?

      • +2

To do that you'd need to use another controller system like IFTTT, Smart Things, or Home Assistant and link it all up

        • yes it's possible.

    UPDATE:

Due to overwhelming demand (with 1000+ units sold overnight), I have requested Banggood for an extension of the code, and they have approved.

Coupon has been extended for additional 200 redemptions.

    • +2

Coupon says invalid? Are the 200 redemptions already gone?

      • +1

        seems like it :-(

though I found another coupon code which reduces the current flash deal price further

        details in update 2

        • Cheers, that'll do!

  • +1

This only takes button batteries so seems like a waste when you can't use rechargeable batteries.

  • +1

Because of price and size you can "deploy" many of this sensors all over the house: attic, bedrooms, pantry, bathrooms, etc

Then you can weekly check temperature and humidity in all different places.

Then you can decide to put more insulation or to pinpoint the hottest, warmest, and more humid spots are in your house.

Then you can probably decide you already knew all that … but now you have the numbers, hard evidence, to prove it!

Measuring temperature and humidity. Like a clock, either you are interested or not.

By the way, you can retrieve data for up to one year back (after one year of use, of course) getting the full picture.

  • Looks like i now need a deal for the xiaomi gateway global version…

    • 21c discount?

      • it should be US$1 off the flash sale price - check that you've selected the cheapest shipping method

  • What's the range like on these guys? I'd like to have them at either ends of the house (~20m apart) but will they still be able to communicate with my RasPi?

  • Any one else has issue checking out? i got stuck on shipping address once you populate state

  • I just ordered 2-off, total $32.10 inc gst. Still a good deal to me

  • Just received mine today.

    • Mine said arrived Sydney waiting for clearance.

      • ……and mine says "In transit to next facility in SYDNEY SOUTH NSW" ETA Fri.
Am impresssed with the speed but more over that Banggood Tracked with Auspost.

  • FWIW Mine arrived yesterday (22/9) it would appear - found them in the mailbox early this morning.

    • …and for those who might be interested (eg who want to use it in something like Home Assistant), the first one I tried showed up under "sudo hcitool lescan" with a mac address starting "A4:C1:" and the name LYWSD03MMC, and under the Xiaomi app (where you can also get the mac address) it showed that there was an updated firmware revision available (I updated them for the heck of it).

      • +1

That was harder than I thought it would be. The sensors encrypt the data, so they don't show any info using the standard plugin. I needed to install the Passive BLE monitor integration (in my case I just used HACS), then got the encryption key for each sensor (I used https://github.com/PiotrMachowski/Xiaomi-cloud-tokens-extrac…), so I could then add the encryption key info for each sensor mac address (like this: https://custom-components.github.io/ble_monitor/configuratio…) into configuration.yaml. I could then go into configuration/integration, click on the device hotlink within the BLE monitor integration box, and add the entities into lovelace.

        • Thanks for the notes. I plan on trying the same one I receive.

        • +1

I think this method is easier.
          Original link:
          https://github.com/atc1441/ATC_MiThermometer.

          Somebody improved flash files:
          https://github.com/pvvx/ATC_MiThermometer

I found best way is on android phone with chrome installed:
Download bin file for your device:
          https://github.com/pvvx/ATC_MiThermometer#firmware-binaries

          Open link in chrome:
          https://pvvx.github.io/ATC_MiThermometer/TelinkMiFlasher.htm…

NB: bluetooth on phone needs to be on.

Click connect - locate your device out of available devices discovered.
You can get encryption key here, or flash update firmware file.

          I burn new firmware.

This can connect to HA - using HACS/BLE directly
Use bluetooth on HA server to connect.

I have 3 upstairs with server (old laptop) downstairs - no issues with connectivity.
I use one as a reference and the other 2 in bathrooms to turn fans on if humidity goes too high.

          • @pencilhead: Thanks - yeah, I thought about doing it that way but I thought the risk of borking was a little high. It ended up not being too bad doing it the way I did - the main issue was working out the right steps, which is why I thought it might be a nice idea just to note here what I'd done. :-)

          • @pencilhead: Thanks, it was simple enough. Main issue for me is Bluetooth dongle range as I use Home Assistant as a VM. Only gets around 6 meters.

            • +1

@Borg: You can increase the transmit power on the device using the OTA app. That might help.
It will affect battery life though.

              • @pencilhead: Thanks for that suggestion. Assuming I chose the right area i.e. RF TX Power. It didn't seem to make any difference.
I adjusted from default value of VANT +0.04 dbm right up to +3.01 dbm (having tested lower values). I moved the sensor not even 1 meter and it still went out of range.

                • +1

@Borg: UPDATE: I solved my issue. As I am using HomeAssistant as an ESXi VirtualMachine. I use a Bluetooth USB dongle plugged straight into the front of the PC and this is what HA uses. I just added a 0.5m USB Extension cable and plugged the dongle into it. Amazing difference. I can get all areas inside and outside my 3br house and even when Thermometer is in the fridge (that surprised me). I adjusted the power back to the default (VANT +0.04 dbm) and still works. In short. If using a USB dongle on PC, add a USB Extension cable and Bluetooth works much better.

                  • @Borg: good work, thanks for sharing

  • Got mine today - Thanks Op!
Now time to play around with home assistant and see if I can get these to work.
And to find a deal on something to make my dumb ducted central aircon smart - does anyone know what I could use?

    • If your ducted system is really dumb, then you are in luck - many options there, and if you want to use HA then I'd start browsing through https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/#climate. Heck, you might even be able to get a Nest Thermostat to work. If it's smart, then it gets harder - worse case you may be able to use something like https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/broadlink/ to send commands via IR or RF if you have some form of remote control.

For me, I have a Brivis system, which has its own special protocol. I needed to get a special "wifi touch" module (https://www.brivis.com.au/online/controllers/brivis-touch-wi…) that then allowed me to send commands via my network, although integration with HA is still very much a work in progress.

      • Thanks ! I have a temperzone tzt-100, I guess it’s as dumb as it gets. Thanks for the nest tip, looks like they have a new line-up of products and I should hopefully be able to use one of those. Now to find how to open my thermostat box and check if it’s compatible. Fingers crossed.
        Thanks again!
Also, unfortunately I don’t have any remote so can’t use the broadbean IR stuff, that would have been great if it worked.
Let’s see, got enough to keep me busy for the next few days or even weeks! Lol

        • Well, a quick google search and apparently that controller supports modbus comms (https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/modbus/) so if you are feeling geeky you could probably hook HA up to it….

          • @PlasticSpaceman: Wait - What? Do you mean I could hook up my existing thermostat to HA? That would be unreal! I do consider myself geeky and like to do a lot of DIY stuff (who over here doesn’t)
I did a quick google but couldn’t find much. Do you have any experience? Are you able to point me to some links please? Much appreciated.
I have only been watching nest videos all evening since your last response 🤣

            • @Dealking: The installer manual is here: https://www.temperzone.biz/SiteAssets/Public/4784/TZT-100Ins…

Basically, it supports serial communication - you'd need to physically run wire (eg probably something like a usb to RS485 serial converter on the 'pi or whatever you have HA on then some cat5 cable) to the thermostat controller. Then you could use the modbus climate integration to control it from HA. All in theory - in practise it probably would take a fair amount of mucking around and the cabling may be a pain depending on how far away the thermostat is from the HA server. If you have the time, then sure why not as the parts are cheap but on the other hand it might just be easier to replace the thermostat. The old thermostat looks like it is designed to control very dumb things, so swapping it out should be easy…. I think I know what I'd do. ;-)

              • @PlasticSpaceman: Thanks! I will look for the components. I have a spare pi0w lying around. Will see if can hook that up using the USB to RS485 so I don’t have to run cables and use pi0 to control my aircon?
Not sure, as you rightly said, it seems too much work, but might be worth a try. Will let you know how I go, but I am excited.

                • @Dealking: Have fun, and good luck! (and although I fully support your decision to give it a go, if it was me I suspect I'd spend more effort looking at something like the Nest, Ecobee, etc)

                  • @PlasticSpaceman: Haha Thanks - yes, it’s all absolutely about having fun. It’s not like a must have for me, I have survived with my current dumb aircon for years and can continue, but it’s just an interesting project. I am only going to be spending lots of time and some money.
And I agree with you, I am not sure what the outcome would be and who knows, I might end up with something like a nest or ecobee ( I didn’t know ecobee so far, so thanks for adding that to my research list) more fun, until it lasts …

  • Received mine today (Melbourne)

  • Received mine. Set up on Mi-home, updated firmware etc and then tried to set up mi-home on google home app - mi-home says linked but doesn’t show under linked accounts neither does the sensor - tried for 45 minutes and gave up - any ideas?

    • I don't believe it connects to Google Home. Most comments above relate to "Home Assistant" which is not Google Home. What is it you are looking to do?

      • Thanks Borg - nothing in particular but I’m deeply invested in the google home and wanted to see if I could integrate it into the system and then set up some IFTTT! Read some online posts that MI - home is very buggy with Google home!

  • is it just me or I just received the order comfirmation while others already got their order?

    • Order confirmation was on the day of ordering. Perhaps one to ask Banggood about.

  • Got mine yesterday played around with it… I'm questioning it's accuracy… and how it actually measures temp.

I tested a few spots and it's pretty inconsistent… I stuck it on my desktop bezel and it's consistently showing a relatively high temperature 1-2 degrees higher than if I stick it on the wall.

This definitely doesn't work outdoors, had it on the balcony and in the afternoon it was showing 47 degrees… lol

    So really limited capabilities

    • I hope you didn't have it in direct sun……..
Mine (x3) are all good. Accuracy is decent enough so far and tested agaist a sensor that I know is +/- 0.2c . It seems to be +/- 0.5c. Early days though as only got them a few days back. They are slow to adjust and probably due to the plastic casing. Have thought about removing it on one as a matter of interest.

      • If you find the device is out by a degree or two. You can adjust.
Method: Requires updating the device with Custom Firmware (easy to do).
        See: https://github.com/pvvx/ATC_MiThermometer

Once done there is an area for Temperature and Humidity offset: For example -1.4 will decrease the Temperature by 1.4°

      • I did have it in direct sun…. maybe that's why it's showing such high temp… I've moved it to a shaded area on my balcony and will see if it's more accurate.

I don't exactly know how the device work and how it measures temperature. what's the sensor mechanism?? Never had a device like this before… so didn't think direct sun was an issue… thought it was measuring air temp

        • Temp sensors detect heat and not specifically just Air Temp. In turn always keep in the shade and away from any source of direct heat e.g. the Sun or if indoors away from direct line of air from a Air Con or heater (unless in fact you wanted to determine approx heat coming from those)..

          • @Borg: Yea cool thanks!! Balcony temp alot more accurate compared to weather app in the shade.

    • It is probably actually 1-2ºC hotter on the bezel of a powered device.
Air temperature is the hardest thing to measure accurately.

      • I hang mine (outside) rather than attach to a wall or sit on a table. In turn is not influenced by any surface temps. It makes a difference. You are right though air temp is hard. PLUS these devices take time to change. Example stick one in a fridge and they take a good 10mins to drop right down. I went as far as removing the LED display to expose internals to air. Not sure if it helps and yet to do a side by side test. Wonder if it will extend battery life as well.
