Just absolutely crazy cheap. Scary to think what the cost of making this is.

    • -7

I heard cost price of Acer Iconia was $35. So presumably Hyundai is even less.

      • +1

where did u hear that nonsense?

      • -1

        dupe.. plz delete.

      • You heard wrong. There are websites that calculate the cost of tablets based on their parts, and no tablet manufacturer is making that kind of killing. Most of the profits are marginal - the big players are in the business because they "have to be", not because they're currently making a killing.

      • +2

Unsubstantiated bullshit. $35 wouldn't even cover the cost of raw materials (ie petroleum for plastic and unsmelted metals), then you throw in R&D, licensing costs for components, manufacture, distribution, marketing, stocking etc. Yeah. $35 sounds totally plausible.

Also, this implication that tablet makers are enjoying 900%+ profit margins for $500 devices is so laughable. No company can sit pretty on that sort of yield without hungrier, more nimble competitors eating up their market by being willing to take cuts in their bottom line. Even Apple with their price premium is only sitting on 10-30% for hardware.

        • Ok, anyone care to provide an alternative figure that's not "nonsense"?

  • +1

great improvement from my optus tab!

    • yes, this is the newest android 4.0 system and have many new functions

  • +1

Wow, feel kinda sorry for the people who bought that MSI thing.. Great find!

    • +3

Not really. Goodluck honoring the warranty. MSi has Australian 2 Years.

An with a Big W Invoice claim on Tax & Educational Rebate.

    • +2

I would say MSI tablet has better built quality compare to this. return, refund and warranty with bigw is a big plus

      • +1

Didn't think of the whole return/refund thing but this thing has a processor twice as fast and runs the latest Android plus a quick google finds existing support from the community.

So I guess its a question of whether you want a better OS with community support or the ability to refund if something goes wrong.

  • Does not bring on android market installed

    • are you trying to say it doesn't support android market?

      • For tablets that don't have market access, you'd have to rely on somebody to cook up a ROM for it that includes GAPPS. Unfortunately, this tablet is pretty new so there's hardly a community for it.

  • What can you do (or not do) with this? Is it worth waiting a 2-3 weeks for?

    • There is a post on their website that says due to chinese new year, which ended 28 jan, there are delays and it is taking 15 - 25 business days to reach oz. damn, that's up to five weeks.

      • NO.no, all goes well now ,usually take 2-3weeks,you can receive your parcel

        • So, if it was posted today. I should get in two weeks? (I received an email saying it was posted today.)

For those one that interesting on this tablet, I just found out another way to saved you few more bucks!!!

1, Create a new account, it will give you 3 offers:

    5% off, $2 off and $8 off

2, Pick $8 off and display price in USD.
3, Use Paypal, and depends on exchange rate might save more or less.

For example, I just bought this tablet for AUD $98.20.

    • +1

Sweet. And now to get AU$8 off, or US$8 off and pay with 28 Degrees credit card.

    • lol,you are so clever

    • How long does it take for them to send out a coupon for a new account?

  • +1

This tab is able to play 1080p MKV without glitches and hiccups? Anyone know?

    • -1

Unlike, why would u store 1080p video on a device that has a 400p display

      • +2

It has a HDMI out port.

      • +2

Why would you want to recode all your 1080p videos just to display them on this?

    • -1

      Extremely unlikely.
My Transformer 101 (first gen) can't handle HD mkv files. I have to convert to MP4.
It MIGHT handle avi files if played on MX video player.

      • On the website it said "Supports mini HDMI video output, enjoy 1080P HD video with this device" but i just wanna make sure it plays 720p 1080p MKV properly and put its HDMI into good use.
Tossing up between WDTV Live Streaming and this tab… if this tab plays MKV properly then i'd get this.

    • +1

Yes it will work. The original transformer doesn't work because tegra 2 doesn't support neon instructions which is needed for smooth video playback. Google it.

    • From the description,it is able to play 1080p MKV

  • I don't know anything about these tablets, but was hoping to take something with wifi capability on my 3 week trip to asia. Can these things surf the net? ie can I check my gmail and do online shopping and check the news, etc? TIA

    • yes,it support wifi, you can check your gmail and do other things as well

  • seems the tab is very new not much info available

    http://www.android-tablet-comparison-world.com/tablets/Hyund…

im sure given a few weeks a fix would be made or possibly go to market through the browser?
all i know is for the price the specs are awesome!

  • wow… seems a good entry-level tablet, been thinking to buy asus transformer prime, but looking at this bargain… might not be too bad, would it? (well… i'm afraid, if I pay peanut, I will get monkey)

    • You cant really compare this tablet to the transformer prime as the price difference is huge.

Saying that , i bought a chinese tablet last year " flytouch 3 " and currently have the transformer prime , the difference is like going from an old 1960's car to a ferrari .

It may be ok just to get your feet wet so to speak in an entry level android tablet , but if you can afford it get the prime .

  • -1

It's a deal, but not by much. $120 from tabletpcwholesale.

Its specs on the site say:

    Networking 3G, USB Dongle
    Wireless Connection Wi-Fi
    Wireless Protocol 802.11 a/b/g/n

Not clear whether it needs a dongle but it does appear to have Wi-Fi built in. The title does say "with 3G" which you could well argue is a statement that it does have 3G built-in.

  • Wow… great deal!

  • <TF card> what is this?

    • -1

      Another name for SD card.

    • +2

      TF = TransFlash = microSD

  • Effectively it has no 3G, since
1/ who is going to walk around with a USB dongle hanging out, asking to get snapped off, and
2/ who knows what 3G dongles are compatible ?

Also, anyone ever heard of this from the specs):
    "Chip Quanzhi A10"

At least it appear the wifi is built in.

Still, assuming it works and the build quality is OK (big assumption), this would be a great toy. If I didn't already have a mytab no CM7 I'd be sorely tempted. 10" screen would get me across the line.

    • Just set up a wifi node on your phone, and connect it to that.

  • This device is apparently made by a Chinese electronics company - not by the Korean car making and machinery company of the same name.

As a user of the excellent though limited Optus MyTab ZTE V9 it is hard for me to imagine having to go back to a tablet or phone that doesn't have both HSPA 3G and GPS on board. My biggest issue with the MyTab is the limit of 512MB of active memory - about 400MB of which is used by the installed Android 2.3 operating system.

Supplied specs on this device suggest it also only has 512MB of active memory! How much of this does Android 4.0 use?

None of the specs mention a GPS of any sort.

In regard to 3G - if it has 3G on-board - none of the specs mention what frequencies of 3G it can access (i.e. which 3G or 3.5G networks it can use), nor at what connection speeds. Presumably unlocked….!

    • +4

This device is apparently made by a Chinese electronics company

      You don't say.

My biggest issue with the MyTab is the limit of 512MB of active memory

Are you referring to RAM? or Internal memory? This device has 8GB of internal memory and has 512MB of DDR3 RAM. Both of which are sufficient for ICS.

      In regard to 3G - if it has 3G on-board -

There is no onboard 3G chip.

  • +1

Since this is not built by the korean car making company, I assume the quality is just as good as all other chinese brands? In that case there are a lot other 10" ICS tablets on the focalprice website which is in very reasonable prices. Can anyone recommend one that is good and reliable?

  • yeah but how about the shipping cost?

  • Hi sky6688 thanks for mentioning about the $8 discount code.

However the website wont let me make the choice.

Can you please explain how u chose the $8 code?

Did you do this before you confirmed your email address or do the codes all come in a later email?

    Welcome any advice.

    Thanks! :-)

    • After you confirmed your email address, go to account and you will see the offer/coupon and then click on coupon then you will see the code.

  • Anyone buying up cheap tablets for use as digital picture frames? They seem to be cheaper than any frame with even marginal smarts.

  • compared to MSI Enjoy 7,
    No Webcam
    No bluetooth.

    else looks nice,

I need webcam for Skype so sticking with the MSI.

    • According to reviews I'm reading (in Russian) it has a 0.3mp camera in the front.

  • Download for 4.0.3: http://is.gd/KRhoiW

  • Seriously considering this as an alternative to buying a portable dvd player for our car (to mount on headrests) for our little one. Does anyone know if it has built in speakers? Any other suggestions on better suited tablets for this purpose? Only going to be used to watch a kids shows when we go on our car trips.

    • of course it has speakers

if your car has an AUX port, just buy a male-male cable off ebay/focal price (basically a cable with 2 ends that are headphone jack plugs) so u can get the audio through the speakers of your car.

    Hi Guys,

I got one of these tablets about one month ago, and I've been researching around for more information since then. I thought I'd let you guys know all the stuff I've learned:

    • I believe it is made by a chinese electronics company called Hyundai Digital, not Hyundai the car company (although it could very well be a small division of that large Korean conglomerate.), and so the quality is similar to other chinese tablets. The website is www.hyundai-digital.cn

    • The screen has pretty poor viewing angles, and the resolution is not the best for the size (the edges of fonts is pretty pixelly), but it's so cheap I wasn't expecting anything fantastic.

    • The capacitive touchscreen works well, it seems as responsive as all my other capacitive devices.

    • The cpu/motherboard is based on the Allwinner A10 SOC (System On a Chip), and so performance is similar to most other cheap chinese tablets based on the same technology. (The Allwinner A10 is an ARM chip manufactured by a chinese company).

    • The CPU is 'specified' to run at 1.5ghz, but most (if not all, including mine) only run at about 1.1ghz due to heat/stability issues.

    • It's a single core, not dual core as you sometimes read (the 'dual' nature is the fact that it contains a graphics chip as well, the Mali 400)

    • There are NO hardware buttons, so it makes recovery a bit more complicated (see the end of this post)

    On the SOFTWARE side:

    1. Download the livesuit as mentioned previously, install the 64 bit driver (run a file called drvinstalled_x64.exe, then run livesuitpack_v1.07.exe).

    2. Run livesuit.exe

    3. Select firmware (which you download from the hyundai website)

    4. Reboot the tablet in usb boot mode. To do this there's a little hole on the bottom left, use a paperclip to hold the button in, then press the power button. The red light will come on but the screen will be black, that means it's in usb boot/recovery mode.

    5. Plug it into your computer. It'll install some special drivers, and then the livesuit program (which it still running) will detect that your tablet has been inserted in usb mode, and will automatically start flashing the firmware.

    6. Profit.

    • There are no hardware buttons, so it's a bit difficult to use ClockworkMod recovery to test out different firmwares. I'm hoping someone will port over the Touch version of CWM rec, I might give it a shot if I have time.

    • I haven't tried rooting/install android market on 4.0.3 yet, but I confident it should work.

    • The hardware of the different tablets based on the Allwinner A10 is pretty similar, so hopefully the hacks/mods from the other allwinner tablets should work.

Ok I think that's it. Any questions let me know. Hopefully with this information more ppl will be brave enough to get these cheap chinese tablets and hopefully we'll get some more software support! :)

There's lot of android tablet forums out there, so you'll have heaps of stuff to read to keep you occupied. :)

    • +7

Oh, also the battery life is not the best. It's around:

      Heavy browsing ~2 hrs

And I've read other ppl say:

      Video watching ~3 hrs

      Audio playing ~6 hrs

      • +1

well if it runs at around 1.1ghz most of the time (single core chip) then theres no hope of it running 1080p MKV video clips without hiccups then? Have you give that a try before?

        • Hi,

Can you give me a link of a sample 1080p MKV video clip at the bitrate you want? I'll download it and try playing it for you.

I'm pretty sure that higher bitrates require more CPU, so if you have an example file that would be the most accurate test.

      • Would also like to know if you tried high bitrate 1080p MKVs and how it ran.

      • Could you give this one a try? Thanks

          Hi eternal,

I downloaded that file, and it plays fine using the inbuilt video player. No frames skipping that I can detect. I took a video of the tablet playing and it playing on my computer side by side:

          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diGWjCatEsw

The tablet has the Mali 400 graphics chip which apparently has accelerated video playing features.

    • Well done good sir! Great info!

    • can you please quickly check if it does have bluetooth and 3g?

      • it doesn't have bluetooth or 3g

    • Does it have a front camera for video calls?

    • Thanks for all of that. It was very generous of you top take the time to post it.

ALL I want to do with this device is use it for web browsing. Gmail, news and online shopping. I don;t watch videos, etc

Can you please tell me if I need to install all those programs and fixes just to do wifi browsing?

      TIA!!

  • anyone know the weight?
I've seen conflicting results one says 0.7kg and another saying 370g

  • damn bargain… now to wait for it, then to get market place on it!

  • Hmmm looked for a case and no dice on eBay.. However seen it on eBay and they claim to have a camera in it wouldn't be suprised seeing its got a small hole where a camera normally goes on a tablet!

  • looks like theres a black version available now also

  • Chinese media says the tablet is sold for only $75(¥499) in China but I can't guarantee the price as I haven't noticed the model in the computer stores in China. But you can certainly get that from Taobao.com if you understand Chinese for only $75 excluding delivery.

  • +1

Just another low-quality clone trying to gain credibility by association with a reliable Korean brand-name. The retailer's advertising makes misleading claims re 3G.

  • +1

This is a "Korean" product (but might be made in China). Korean IT has an 11+ year history. There is no mention in that history (http://www.hyundaiit.com/company/CmpHstHistory.jsp?pid=1) of manufacturing plants in any other country but Korea (in Gimcheon, in the middle of Korea), but that of course doesn't mean that it has not contracted with Chinese manufacturers to produce these devices for it in similar fashion to Sony, Panasonic and all the rest. The headquarters are located near Seoul.

For what it's worth, I have a CD player made by the same company that I bought at Crazy Clark's more than 4 years ago, and it is going strong. It was made in China.

    • That should be Hyundai IT, not Korean IT.

  • AU$102.91 from FlyDolphin - free shipping to australia

Very tempting. I think I will get one. Anyone bought from flydolphin before?

  • Just grabbed a black one, hopefully its ok for ebooks

    • I think you will satisfy this product

      • Cloudy. Do you have any Android4 tablets with similar specs to this buy with GPS, bluetooth and, perhaps, 3g?

I tried using the search feature on your site but it blows.
