Alternatively, CentreCom has this for $259 shipped, but comes with a $40 steam card via redemption. If you want the Steam wallet cash, it may be better value to some.

    • OMG Cheers… I got one from Mwave in my part list.

Gg.tech might also be eligible, shows the promo in the description of the eBay listing

Edit: It looks like they're "K.S. COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY" which is a participating store in the Samsung promo

      • Fair call. I wasn't sure if eBay listings would be valid for that…

It works, from my experience they email you an invoice directly from the store (doesn't show it was through eBay) and you use this to make the claim

        • Can you redeem the card now? I can't seem to find the form.

  • Is this overkill to use as a secondary M.2 SSD in a gaming rig?

    • +3

Yes. When you can get a SN750 but if you want to keep the same brand why not?

      • I ended up getting a Samsung 970 Evo Plus for a decent price. Around the same price as the SN750's atm. I liked the idea of the same brand. Thanks.

For ps5 do we need heatsink for it?

Just installed a m.2 SSD in my computer now I get absolutely no signal on my monitor. Have re built my whole pc have no idea what’s going on 😩

Check your boot drive in the bios. May be worth putting a forum post up. There are plenty of kind PC enthusiasts on this website that could help.

      • Can’t get into BIOS, can’t get anything on the screen what so ever.
Good tip though I’ll put a post up later, cheers

        • Reinstall the drive with the bios.

          • @[Deactivated]: Not sure I understand?
I have removed the m.2 drive plus tried removing all other hard drives. No matter what I do I get no signal on the screen so no BIOS access. I also (stupidly) cheaped out and bought a processor with no on board graphics so can’t plug cable directly into the mobo.

            • @barge88: When you installed the new NVMe SSD did you take out a different drive to replace or did you move a drive to a different position? You have a drive somewhere on that PC that was being used to run the bios, you've either removed it or you've unplugged it and changed the location on the mobo. The PC needs to know where the bios are located. You need to put it back to how it was originally, then you need to follow a guide on how to replace a bios SSD or decide whether you just want to use the new drive as storage.

If you haven't messed with any other drives and you don't believe this is the issue then check all of the cables running into your GPU, PSU, mobo etc to make sure there isn't an issue there.

Btw there's nothing wrong with CPUs without onboard processors. They're likely Ryzen and the newest ones (5000 range) are the best around.

              • @[Deactivated]: So I had a SSD (not a m2 drive) with the windows install connected to sata port 1, another HDD connected to port 2.

The m.2 ssd went into the m2 drive on the motherboard (nothing in there before)

I have tried plugging and unplugging all cables both to the mobo and PSU. I essentially rebuilt the whole computer over the weekend. Even took out the CPU and put it back in.

I have the same sata ports plugged into the same spots. Have tried booting up at every stage too eg, trying to boot with nothing in any of the sata ports ect

Absolutely no signal on the monitor. (Have also tried different monitor and cables)

Going to borrow a friends GPU over the weekend and slot it in see if that’s what’s damaged.

Interested in finding out how to clear the boot bios though? I figured pulling the cmos battery plus removing the CPU would have done that no?
Just cos as it stands now I have absolutely no access to change anything (software related) on the computer

                • @barge88: Oh snap! I may know what it is now. Thanks to your help!

So originally my HDD connected to sata port 2 had windows on it when I first built the computer.

I then did a fresh install on my ssd drive in sata port 1.

Maybe the BIOS is still on that HDD connected to sata point 2 which actually I believe shares bandwidth with the m2 drive I tried to install on!
I assumed (probably incorrectly) that the newly installed windows on the ssd (sata port 1) would have all the BIOS settings on there. But maybe it’s still using it from the HDD on sata port 2?

                  I’ll check later today.
                  Thank you!!

                  • @barge88: That's very likely it, bios can be on a different drive (not advisable) than windows. I was going to suggest next that this may be the issue. Good luck and let me know how you get on.

                    • @[Deactivated]: Nah no luck :( tried plugging the HDD into every Sata port.

Am I correct in saying that taking the cmos battery out will completely wipe the Mobo back to factory settings? So it wouldn’t matter about what drive the BIOS is on as it would just be like starting out from scratch?

                      • @barge88: Take the battery out after unplugging the PC from the wall (unplug not switch just off) and then hold the power button on the front panel for ten seconds. That's the easiest way to make sure it's properly cleared. That will reset the BIOS and allow you to boot into them if there's an issue with corruption.

    • Tried clearing CMOS?

      • Yeah 😞
