Excellent deal on this bundle, didn't think we'd see it cheaper than the promo price before it expired.

  • If you return the device within the allowable return period and have not redeemed the Netflix offer, you will be refunded the entire amount charged.

  • Can I redeem the credit and upgrade my Netflix account to UltraHD? Thanks

    • +2

Yep. It just applies as a dollar value credit on your Netflix account. If you upgrade to UHD Netflix it won't last 6 months but it'll still be a $95.94 credit.

      • thank you

  • I already have the device so I can buy the device redeem Netflix and return it to get cheaper 6 months Netflix?

    • Apparently so. Also, depending on what Netflix plan you’re on, the months the credit will cover will differ. So if you’re on the basic plan, the credit equates to 8.72 months. Maybe.

      • So if you’re on the basic plan, the credit equates to 8.72 months.

When I first redeemed the 6 months it was on the most expensive plan.

    • What's the cost to return the device?

      • You will make another genuine buyer miss stock.

You will threaten the deal going forward and you will be returning a great value device.

        Give it to your mum.

  • Sorry if I’ve missed it, since it says n/a for people on bundle services - does that include Foxtel bundle with netflix?

  • Looks like pink is out of stock now. Amazing deal though. I brought a couple at full price earlier in the year and they work amazingly well.

  • Thanks OP great Christmas gift!

  • Does this work with Paramount+ from last month deal? The iOS app work good but Android app is buggy as, makes it worth less than $5.99/annual.
    Cheers

    • +1

Yes I have Paramount+ installed on my Chromecast and it works great.

      • +1

Do you have to log into Paramount+ every time you use it? I've installed the app but I have to input username and password each time I go in - very annoying using the onscreen keyboard!

        • +2

Yup I've had to login everytime I open the app. But got used to it after a little while. Hopefully they will have an update in the future that will let the app remember our logins. If this is too annoying you can try just casting straight from your phone for now instead :)

  • I already got the Netflix bundle last time there was the Amex offer.
Does anyone know if you can stack Netflix credit on top of the old one if I get this deal as well?
    Cheers

    • Yes upto 3 times in total is allowed

      • Thanks. Do you know if I can use Netflix code without activating the chrome cast?
Or the credit only available after setingup/ activation?

  • Thanks OP

  • Just wondering if anyone has a Google premium storage (2TB / month) account and confirm whether the 10% store credit will stack with these offers….seriously considering the nest router + wifi (along with the chromecast purchase). Assuming you can downgrade your storage to 'Basic' after a month.

  • Can i use this credit and add to my current NetfIix account? Or it needs the new Netflix account?

    • +2

Yes, you will receive the Netflix activation code that you can redeem after you activated the Google TV

      • Thank you . Currently i am using xiao mi box s , it is a good deal to upgrade to chrome cast.

  • I Just bought 2 of these on the 23/09. So tried to do price match with google but they wouldn't do it. So I bought another pack with birthday deal and will use all the netfilx code then return the extra chromecast.

    • Can you return after you opened the box and used the Google TV?

      • it says if you redeemed the netflix code they will just refund $99 for the chromecast in the small print at the bottom of the package deal screen. "If you return the device within the allowable return period and have already redeemed the Netflix offer, you will be refunded $99.00 (cost of the Chromecast device). "

        • Is the $99 return price if you bought at RRP of $139.99 or it applies also if you bought at the discounted price of $118.99 ?

  • Already have one, but I guess this deal is too good to pass on. Thanks OP ordered another

  • +1

FWIW Happy to be proven wrong but I suspect that if you are still paying for Netflix via iTunes - you'd need to change to a standard Netflix payment method, and then lose the ability in the future to pay via discounted iTunes cards. Just saying/PSA.

    • Like to know this as well. Currently subscribed to Netflix with iTunes monthly payment. I don't want to add this 6 month subscription and then find out I will lose my iTune payment option later on.

      • You would of course loose the ability to pay via iTunes. That cannot be set up anymore

        • Thanks. I think I will just keep my 15% discounted iTune gift card payment instead. Already have two Chromecast at home.

          • +2

@edfoo: Highly doubtful that we will get 15% discounted itunes cards anymore as Apple has combined their store cards with itunes cards. So essentially if you have itunes credit you can purchase anything from apple.

            • @Ashfield: What? I am behind time, since when did Apple combine store cards with iTunes cards?

              • @edfoo: guess it was in July. not too sure. I only noticed when i was buying something from apple store and it prompted me to use my itunes balance. So if we get a sale it'd be good to stock up as much as possible. I highly doubt there will be any frequent sales on those.

  • +6

Fyi the limit for claiming Netflix is three times. Source: me getting denied when trying to claim the fourth time lol

    • Did Google or Netflix shut the door on you? :)

  • +2

Check your accounts for old emails from the Google Store. I found a single use code for $25 off the google store which brought the cost down to $114.99. The code was from an email sent in late May and it was only sent to one account in my family.

    • Cant become 118.99 less $25?

      • +3

No you can't use more than 1 promo code. I tried :(

  • Would anyone happen to have a spare $25 off code through Google that they are not likely to use? Cheers!

    • It's okay to ask not sure why your got downvoted.

      • Used my manners! 🤣

  • How does this work if you use a foreign netflix for cheaper monthly fees?

    • +2

Can't use it on that account

      • K thanks

  • Is this the current or latest chromecast with gg tv model available, or there is only one model so far?

  • Any advice if this works with David Jones Amex? Cheers

    • Did you activate the $30 off from Amex?

      • I've been into the rewards through the amex app since posting the question and the offer doesn't seem to be there☹️

        • You needed to save it to your card first

          • @fozzie: The offer is not there. There are 6 others, that's all. No sign of a Google store one unfortunately

            • @Pindone: Yes, it seems like you didn’t get it

  • +1

still have my vodafone thingo from the the ozbargain deal and happy with that…

doesn't look like i can watch normal tv with it…my tv reception is so bad in the east wing library so i'll just read books there as TV is unwatchable

    • I am staggered at how popular the Vodafone TV box is. One went for $77 on eBay last week, and I paid only $70 for mine.
Makes me wish my son had not lost the power lead for my unit…

      • They take a 12volt 1amp power supply, a replacement isn't very expensive at all, much less than $70 if you did want to sell the VTV

    • +2

Hey mate! Check this out. I’ve been using it on my Vodafone TV flawlessly for years

Edit: not sure if you’re making a joke, but if you are, I’m missing it :(

      • Thanks for the link

      • this looks awesome and if this is live tv it will solve all my reception problems!

seems you can add TVirl to google chromecast/tv also using this method?
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3O7YhsPqfI

        • Sorry for the late reply! I’ve used it in a room without a TV point at all and it’s been great. The guy who does it even adds a few extra channels (Bloomberg, CNA, Al Jazeera etc) which is nice.

So you can add TVirl to the Google TV no problems, and you can also sideload the Live Channels app you need - but last time I checked the Google TV hides the “Live Channels” app from the home screen and the only way you can access it is by using voice (ie Hey Google, open Live Channels) - happy to be corrected if this has changed in the last few months. It all seemed like a bit of a muck around so I stuck with my Vodafone TV.

          • @jackary: how do i get channels from other countries? if it's all ip based then i'm sure i can get US tv?

            • @MrBillions: Another late reply…

I couldn’t really help you with that one. I’d imagine geo-blocking would make it difficult though

Perhaps someone a bit more technically minded can chime in

        • ignore that, installed aptoide tv

What are the live tv channels to add/install?

          Cheers

  • -1

I tried the discount code, but it doesn't seem to work anymore

  • I've got an old chrome cast that keeps buffering when watching live sports. Are the new versions better with this?

    • +1

It could be your internet rather than the device.

    • Not sure if you're using kayo but that didn't play nicely with my OG Chromecast whereas fox go works fine. All reports are that the current gen Chromecasts will work properly. Then, as dvd6 suggests, it may be down to your internet connection bandwidth.

  • Basically $20 for half year Netflix

  • Netflix voucher, will it work if I haven't set up my Chromecast + Google TV, which I bought late last year? but I decided to set it up now?

    • Unless you specifically purchased this Netflix bundle from Google, no.

  • -4

Thanks op, just bought 2 pink ones without the Google credit actually (I couldn’t be bothered selling and don’t even know if it would have worked). I have Netflix setup to turkey, hence the credit wouldn’t make sense.
    2 delivered at $168.30
    Getting $30 back via Amex
As I already have heaps of streaming devices If I don’t wanna keep both I will return one hence after the Amex only cost me $50 :)

    • -3

That's just taking advantage dude tsktsktsk

      • +1

Why am I taking advantage? Some people on here are buying just to use Netflix credit.

        • They arnt buying more just to use a discount code only to return the unit back to them.

          • @DoesntEvenMatter: I said if I don’t like I won’t keep it. I don’t understand how buying 2 boxes for personal use is taking advantage. I’m using my Amex offer, on my card.

        • Will amex take back the credit if you return the product?

    • Howd you buy pink ones? It's been out of stock from atleast yesterday.

      • Because the ones without the Netflix bundle still have pink in stock.

        • Oooh fair enough call. Ta.

          Missus wanted the pink..mmm..

    • I am at the same boat
Bought 2 basic version without the Netflix since I have already got the turkey subscription (4 devices one), which is around A$9 per month

Just too lazy to cancel the existing subscription, switch back to Aus for 6 months and switch back again.

By the way, have you received the AMEX email of the offer being redeemed? I also got the offer and use AMEX to pay, but didn’t get the redeemed email yet

      • +2

Hi I did get the email straight away title “ You just used your Google Store Amex Offer”
Did you switch payment to credit card and paid with Amex? Initially was defaulting to Google pay and even if you use Amex you won’t qualify. Maybe cancel and replace

        • Yes you are right
It is paying with AMEX but is paying via google pay

I have cancelled the order and place a new one by adding credit card, then getting the email right away

          • @littlesoldier: My payment is also pending. Have a scroll through thread as I think someone else had a similar problem to yours.

  • Is this credit usable with a new account created via the vpn methods? would like to get a 4k/hdr account.

    • Nope

      • Thats too bad.

  • Your purchase includes 3 months of ad-free videos and music on YouTube premium.

    • only for new user

  • Bit behind on the times.

Any advantage to buying this is if I already have Android TVs with built in Chromecast and free Netflix?

    • +1

If you have a Sony tv then no there is no benefit. You would be able to get a $70 code towards the Pixel 6 on release however.

  • To anyone that’s owned a TelstraTV and a Google ChromeCast, what are the differences/improvements? And is it worth it to replace a TelstraTV with the ChromeCast?

  • +6

It also says in T&Cs that there is a $35 restocking for return. I don’t advocate dodgy returns like this but that’s just my integrity and not anything on the legal side.

    • So 99 (if claimed)- 35 = 64$ back for refund. Seems too much effort for those that are using the system.

    • Where does it say that in the T&Cs?

    • +3

For us resident only from memory.

  • I already have a Chronecast with Google TV and 6 months unused Netflix credit. I am looking to get it set up February next year when I set up my new account. If I buy another one of this, can I combine the credit with the existing 6 months credit on that new account?

    • +1

Yes, although limit of 3x of these netflix redemptions.

      • The question is, what do I do with the extra Chronecast? Do you just give it to your friends and family? I don't have a second TV at home.
