Wow bargain price for this great TV.

    • yep, def a great price. I paid $2200 i think for the 65" X9500G back when they were around, this is an absolute steal.

  • +2

1,695.75 if you have eBay plus

how do you get the ebay+ price of $1695?

    • +1

My Apologies, I thought it was an 15% off for Plus members and 10% for non-Plus members.

      I've corrected the add

  • +1

This is actually a better panel than this years 95j - that said it does not have hdmi 2.1.. may or may not be an issue for you.

    • +1

That's debatable. The X950H has an increased color gamut and is brighter, while the X90J has the better contrast ratio (better blacks), has HDMI 2.1 and can do 4k at 120Hz. Which one is better really depends on what your use case for the TV is.

      • He didn't say X90J. Regardless, as he said if don't care about HDMI 2.1 it's a no brainer.

      • Yeah definitely debatable. I'd be very happy with the X950H at this price if primary use is movies/tv etc. High end pc gaming out of the question.

        • is x950H and 9500H the same?

          • +1

@ntt: Yes the x950H is model number for the American market but its the same screen

    • Better panel? There are some nice feature additions to the 95J which were making me wait longer (for this sort of price next year), but was not aware of panel issues with the J?
I read the wide-angle coating on the 65 from H (and larger sizes other models) meant the colour is not quite as good, but the 95J's extra features are really appealing (sucker for marketing I guess)

  • +2

This is a really good tv especially if not a big gamer. If there was a 75" id be very tempted.

    • Yes a 75 inch X95 at this price would be perfect.

      • Also 85 inch at this price would be better than perfect

  • -7

If I was spending this much on a tv these days you want smooth picture (100hz+)

    • +4

You are confusing panel hz with motion smoothing (motion interpolation aka fake hz) i think, or at least confusing gaming with media. This does have a 100/120hz panel but only up to 1080p. TV, movies, media etc are all under 60fps anyway so what matters most is how the TV handles motion, judder etc and Sony are up with the best.

  • +1

    non tech? …

    • Sorry corrected.

  • +3

Don't buy a TV because it's cheap, buy it because it suits your intended needs.
I got a Hisense Dual Cell 65 inch for $1495 with $100 in store voucher.
I bought this for the pure intent to replace an aging ST60A Plasma.
Due to a health issue my TV has been on for 3 days straight, this leaves burn marks on the plasma so the Hisense was a perfect replacement with great blacks, less heat and 4K.
Never needed HDMI 2.1 so the TV was a beautiful replacement for what I already had.
The bonus is, I paid 2K less than asking $ from a year ago.

    • is this 65sx?

      • Yes.

        • +1

I missed that deal when it's ~1300 and I regret it a little bit. I know HIsense software is crappy but the picture quality is my 1st choice

          • +1

@ntt: I got it for $1175 on the one day only deal. Great picture and easily worth that money. Only TV that can give you OLED blacks with a LCD panel. Does have a few little issues but if you know what your doing and how to limit it, then its the best TV by a mile factoring in value and picture quality.

            • @Whisper Quiet: both great prices, I ended up using one of these stands
Put the tv in game mode and it shines.

I did a whole bunch of vids for AVS but removed them as people were just not interested thinking FALD 1000 zone LCDs were better.
They still did not get that the SX is a 12 bit panel, also no 1440P support in 60 HZ mode which is stupid, but run this test, you will get a pleasant surprise.

              1080P clocks @ 144HZ if you do the whole 144HZ 1080P mode.
The caveat is the 4K panel is locked, so the test will tell you you're getting 144HZ @ 1080P but when you do actual testing ie mouse tracking and what not, you're getting 60HZ refresh through the 4K color panel.
I was shocked and surprised at the same time, given Sony has a Pro series 32 inch 4K monitor priced @ $51K AUD, it saddens me that this tech never got the growth it needed.

              Oh well, their loss.

              • @[Deactivated]: They just released the dual cell in the US so hopefully it will get bigger. Panasonic and Sony now use Dual cell as their reference monitors instead of OLED so it proves they think it is the best tech out there at the moment. It will take time for them to put the tech in consumer size TVs for decent price. Yes the 120hz is only for motion enhancement not for framerate, just like on other Hisense models of the time. Also my set doesn't lean back, not sure why but its perfectly straight and everything lines up as it should

            • @Whisper Quiet: I saw your post on WP, they're a bunch of clowns there. They're the single reason the TV failed so much, there has been posted so much misinformation about the SX it's not funny.
Given WP has the highest traction regarding the TV, the negative impact it had on the potential sales is just sad. A few posters like TAB who continually ran the TV down.
This was just a sad state of affairs and I actually joined WP with my own videos to prove people wrong regarding processing, motion artifacts etc.

The TV is fantastic and people who have never used one should be banned from posting like he did there.

I took in my nVidia shield to Harvey and spent a few hours with 4K UHD content that was not compressed.
Putting the unit into game mode and turning off the store mode stopped the tv reverting back any changed settings.

Shame as the tech is proven.

              • @[Deactivated]: TAB is an idiot. Hes in every thread and runs his mouth but only has a Sony x950h I believe or could even be a 900h. Doesn't test the TVs or take them home, for some reason everyone there seems to believe so much of what he says. Obviously there were issues with the TV that was unacceptable and should have been fixed before they released it. Update did and now there are no complaints. Funny thing was people who said they returned it for a Sony or Samsung 9 series, said the Hisense was better. Theres a big push to keep dual cell down as LG OLED and their affiliates have spent so much money marketing it as the best. Reviewers and so many other influencers get paid to push a narrative.

                • @Whisper Quiet: Thank you for being the most clear minded person I have come across re what I posted and WP.
WP is an echo chamber and I blame the failure of the SX due to people parroting information they never clearly experienced 1st hand.
The SX is an amazing TV and i probably eventually would have paid full $, it just beats any other LCD for blacks without having to use local dimming, for that guy who posted msg to me, don't use local dimming, of that dynamic contrast, it blips the image, ie when you go from 1 scene to another you get a slight pop of intensity of the image.

This TV screams do not use any post processing what so ever, also I was told that the TV was calibrated by an ex Samsung engineer, so when you watch the tv out of the box it's pretty much on par with everything.
How true this is I don't know, but the image does look pretty good out of the box, not the dynamic modes but yeah once you do your own tweaks, the tv is great.

                  • @[Deactivated]: I use advanced contrast booster on HDR and SDR but not in Dolby Vision. I find the black levels get raised using it with DV content. I see a big difference in 90% of content with Average Picture Level being brighter in DV compared to HDR with the same movie or TV show. Almost as if its SDR overall brightness compared to the dim HDR. Do you know if there's any new updates? I always take my TVs offline. I actually found the colours off by quite a margin out of the box, although DV is absolutely perfect. Its like they calibrated the TV for that only. Took me ages to calibrate the white balance and colours to an acceptable level for SDR, HDR was a bit easier

                    • @Whisper Quiet: No new updates from 3 months ago for me, will check FW number.

                      L0316

I don't have a DV player, my nVidia shield is 2017 and when I complained abt this on a forum, people seemed to think it was my fault that I would not pony up another $350 that the 2017 Model I've had for around 2 years needs to be made redundant because they wont software upgrade it.
I have yet to experience DV which is a shame.
White balance is a hard one to get, but with colors I found live TV giving me either to real skin tones and when they move their faces left to right, skin tone changes due to the spot lighting which we all know under studio conditions is not white lighting.
I don't know if it's just me or I am seeing something that my plasma just used to flatten.
I will eventually get a 2019 Shield but I just don't need to spend $350 right now.

Do you have any pop from scene changes using the contrast booster? I found it a little off putting as it only happens when an edit appears, can be somewhat distracting.

                      • @[Deactivated]: No pop or anything like that with contrast booster. Only thing I get is a slight artifacting that happens very rarely with a black scene transition but that's only with some motion enhancement turned on

                        • @Whisper Quiet: I checked on FTA with booster at max in game mode, seems not to pop at all so all good here.

    • +1

I was very tempted by that but couldn't justify the extra $800 (at the time) over the hisense Q8. The Q8 is a downgrade PQ wise from my old plasma but overall I'm happy with it for TV/sports.

      • Really? I currently have a Panasonic plasma and the Q8. I much prefer the PQ of the Q8.

        • I would've happily kept using my plasma, but it wasn't one of the indestructible Panasonic rather a cheaper samsung that died just before the Rio Olympics after I bought it just before the 2012 Olympics!

      • Yeah I wasn't impressed at all with the Q8. Thought it looked extremely average compared to all the TVs I have. Even my old Panny plasma would give it a run for picture quality. Obviously the Hisense is a lot brighter though. SX is in a whole other league. Its better than the LG BX I had and sometimes better, sometimes just behind on my Sony. I dont use the OS at all so can't say how the VIDAA is. Motion isn't great though, maybe people won't think its bad unless they've had a high end Sony? It's definitely better then I thought it would be

    • So you paid less and got less quality. Hisense vs sony

      • -2

You're clueless what you're talking about here, this is Sony's 31 inch Dual cell

Sony do not make any of their own panels, why is that? BOE is the source of all Dual Cell tech. The SX65 would trounce anything regarding color gamut or contrast in its current price range or double. This is a 12 bit panel without FRC you are aware yes?

        As you were…

        • So your saying that Hisense is better then Sony?

          • -3

@asa79: Again try to understand what was being discussed before waving your shillington flag of Sony fanboyism.

            • @[Deactivated]: I didn't know that hisense is running Android tv

              • -8

@asa79: I don't care what you think, you are clearly out of your depth here, shoo.

  • Bought one… Will see how it compares with my Q8

    • This TV has best picture and software is super quick.

  • Sony definitely gives you run around if TV becomes faulty outside 12 months. They will eventually give you solution following quoting of ACL but there may be lot of back and forth.

Hisense has 3 years warranty so you don't have to worry about run around for at least 3 years.

I had experience of repair claim with both Sony and Hisese and found Sony to be pain because of falling outside 12 months express warranty.

    • Samsung refused to help me after my plasma died after 3 years.

    • +1

My Sony 55" has lasted me nearly 13 yrs. Wonder if they will give me the run around when it dies

  • Great find, OP! Just bought the 75inch X80J for $2k at Costco last week to upgrade from a broken 65inch plasma. Not sure if it's worthwhile returning it and getting this instead. I don't do gaming or watch loads of TV but the picture quality on the X80J has been pretty average (have literally spend less than 1hr watching). Bigger screen size or screen quality?!?!? For some reason it doesn't feel right getting a new TV that's the same size as the old one!

    • +1

I'd return the X80 and get the X95 if you don't have to have a larger size TV. Picture quality is much much better on the X95 series.

      • +2

Thanks, ttkc. Nothing better than seeing another good deal after a purchase to sow seeds of doubt or give you buyers remorse!

  • An off-topic question but is KD55X9000H for $1300 a good buy now considering that's a 2020 model or spend $200-$300 more for a newer tv?
I thought I would ask here because a lot of people keeping an eye on tv prices will visit this deal. Thanks.

    • Still a very good TV, potentially improved when the VRR update gets released in Aus. My son bought this last year for around $1350 which included eftpos gift card, cash back etc, etc. so $1300 is the best price it's been, as far as I'm aware.

  • Do you mean non-plus item?

  • damn, damn, should have waited a couple of weeks to get it, but was worried it would get sold out

  • how does a large item like this get delivered? asking cause i have 2 flights of stairs case up my apartment and if they just delivery it at the apartment door i won't be able to move it in the unit myself.

  • Just bought one from JB on the weekend for 1980 or so, will they pricematch/refund the diff?

    • I believe many people have been given refunds from them on the sale difference if its within two weeks.

  • What is the native refresh rate on this TV?

Couldn’t find anywhere on Sony website, assuming no indication of native refresh means under 100hz

    Anyone advise? Please

    • 120Hz

    • Even though the Sony X950H has a 120Hz refresh rate, it can only achieve 120Hz at a 1080p resolution, so 1440p and 4k content are limited to 60Hz.

      • +1

Pity such a good tv but no 4K /2k in 120hz

  • I just bought this directly from Sony website a day ago for $1995 would they give me back the difference in price?

    • +1

Why would they? You could try cancelling your order and buying this instead, but I can't see why Sony would refund you the difference due to an eBay promotion.

    • If you have used 10% Cashrewards with Sony official website, then the price might end up similar ?

  • +2

Anyone able to advise if theres anything comparable in 70-75" range? I was looking at getting the 9500H but 65" isnt really much of an upgrade to my current 60" Samsung.

Just looking for something for general viewing, a lot of Free-to-air for background noise and Youtube/netflix/disney+ in the evenings so something fast and snappy

    • +2

The best LCDs are the Sony 950s and the Samsung Q9s. Everything else is a big step down. Hisense SX is better than both in black levels and contrast but too small for your needs at only 65inch. I remember going from 55 to 65 inch and was expecting it to be a huge difference, as everybody says its so much more immersive. It wasn't what I expected, obviously its bigger but not a huge improvement. If I was you I'd be looking for 75 inches, or even 85? :) if you want a decent upgrade to make you appreciate the size of the TV

    • +1

I'm in the same boat, Nielzy with viewing habits mainly centred on free-to-air and occasional youtube/netflix. Interested to hear recommendations on larger screens with decent viewing quality and quick user interface (hopefully without needing to pay $3k-$4k plus).

      it's 75" Sony, it's a downgrade from x90j but I don't see a big different between them

  • Excellent price. Got the 65 x9000h for this price about 6 months ago and was happy, this is a good step up

  • It a telling me that the coupon code can't be applied to the order. Is ebay plus needed?

    • So I found that I do need plus for this…tried to sign up for it but it won't let me because my ebay account was set up when I lived in a different country. I've changed all of my settings to Australia but can't change the currency to aud, ebay help is useless and time is ticking on this…anyone got a quick fix?

      • Second reply to myself haha… you think that the regular sony store would price match? Looks as if my ebay issues will take a while to resolve.

        • just create a new account and pay 4.99 for a month?

          • @HD9990: So I did this and paid the $4.99 for ebay plus and then almost immediately my new account was suspended!
Not sure if it is because I put the same address and telephone number as my other account?

Aaargh! Looks like this deal just isn't for me!

            • @pepto: eBay doesn't like you .

              • @HD9990: It seems that way!

Finally got it working with an old account I forgot I had but then sent it to my old address in a different city!

All good now, managed to cancel and re order to my new address.

Delivery should be in about 2 weeks, can't wait!

  • This or $1999 X90J?

    • +1

I would go with 950h unless you are playing competetive online games on Xbox series X.
Other than the lack of HDMI 2.1 this is pretty much better at everything.

      • Neither support 1440P 120HZ game mode and lack the VRR function too, don't buy either as a gaming TV, that would result in mixed results, you want 1440P 120HZ VRR for online competitiveness.

        • Not sure about the X90J but the X900H has a new firmware to enable VRR. I presume the X90J will follow soon, if not already out.

          • @jsediv: Is it out already? Last I checked it was about to release in China with the android 10 + VRR and ALLM update.

            • @Letrico: I don't think OTA has started yet in Asia Pacific but theres info and download links here

A lot of discussion about this in the AVForums "Owner's Thread for the Sony X900H (No Price Talk)"

  • Great deal, I paid more than this for the 55 inch last month 😭

  • Damn good price!
Won't see this lasting very long.

    • Just bought one said 2 left…that’s if its true

  • Steal, buy it! I paid $2065 for this and I thought I had a bargain, at this price it's insane! Tv is really nice!

  • any good 55" tv's on special for a bedroom

  • How does this compare to the LG C1 for gaming?

    • It doesn't… this TV does not have HDMI 2.1, therefore does not do VRR, 4K/120Hz as the C1 does.

      • While all of that may be true, for people like me who only play single player story driven console games (Control, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War etc) where none of the features are needed/ applicable this is an amazing deal at literally half the price of the C1 which is on sale now at $3500 plus delivery.

Does it have the OLED black levels? No, but it does pretty damn well in real world situations. I was all worried about the blooming but then I ran some YouTube test videos on the 65" 930D that we have at work and it looked amazing. This tv is 4 years newer tech than that and has some features better than the replacement X95J.

Some good comparisons between it and OLED here. Some people prefer the extra shadow detail and higher brightness of the sony.

  • Can the legs be adjusted? Also, is this the “cheaper build” one (vs previous model) I’ve seen people mention here or was that the 90J?

    • +1

"The stand is fully metal and supports the TV well, allowing for very little wobble. There are two possible positions for the feet. We set up ours at the wide position, but you can set them up at the narrow position if you have a smaller table."

"The Sony X950H has a great build quality. Although it's mostly plastic, it feels well-built, and there's no flex on the back panel, except the area where the inputs are located. The metal stand supports the TV well, and there's very little wobble."

      https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x950h

I believe it was the X90J that had some negative comments about its build quality.

  • Got the larger one during the sale in may. It's a great android, Let me get rid of my tvbox.
PiP doesn't work at all for anything useful tho. And apps & tv crash or fail every couple days. Eg no audio until a reboot. I've set a timer to turn off each night now.
Bit thicker than samsungs, and thick cables. Had hoped others would catch up by now.

  • Bought this a few months ago. I’m not a gamer, and very happy with it - picture is great, colours are very vibrant and sound is good enough that I’ll be selling off the Yamaha soundbar I also bought at the time (clearer for voices straight from the TV, even with the sound bar in voice mode).

The stands aren’t the most stable, but will be fine if you wall-mount or have a large console.
