120,000 Qantas Points on NAB Signature Rewards Card ($3,000 Spend in 60 Days, $295 Fee 1st Year) for Pre-Assessed NAB Customers

860

Repost of a previous deal that seems to be no longer expired, credit: Toshjammi.

A great churning card for $120k points, and I believe NAB prorate the annual fee on cancellation so can be quite cheap if only open for a few months. I just applied and was approved, very quick and easy application which was nice. I’ll let you know when I receive the points.

Earn 120,000 Bonus Qantas Points on a new NAB Qantas Rewards Signature Card when you spend $3,000 in the first 60 days.

    • Usually they have some sort of data about you and you are quite likely to get the card if you apply as they have done some initial assessment of the risk / reward profile of the people on the list. Might be a group of professionals or existing customer segment or a list of people that they have bought from somewhere. Not always and each bank as their own approach and particular campaigns will have their own approach and criteria.

      • I think everyone who has a NAB ID, meeting the usuals criteria, would be eligible for this offer.

      • Do we, by chance, know whether we are in that group?
I have been a NAB customer for more than 4 years but never had credit card with them.
(Been rejected with other banks recently though)

  • Gonna be a long, long time before I can get another NAB Qantas Signature card for bonus points. Good deal if you get a pro-rata fee refund.

  • So if I am not NAB customer and dont have NAB id i cant apply?

Also what is the wait period if i held nab visa in past?

  • Does anyone know if you create a new NAB savings account, if you would be eligible?

    • +3

Going through to the application it doesn't say anything about having to be a pre-existing customer:

Offer commences 01 March 2021. To be eligible for the 120,000 bonus points offer, you must apply for a new personal NAB Qantas Rewards Signature Card before the offer is withdrawn, be approved, and spend $3,000 on everyday purchases within 60 days of opening your account. Points will be credited to your points balance within 3 months of meeting the spend criteria. A reduced annual card fee of $295 will be charged at time of card opening, and applies for the first 12 months. You will be charged the standard $395 annual card fee in the 13th month of your card account. NAB may vary or end this offer at any time.

Everyday purchases exclude transactions NAB decides are wholly or partly for gambling or gaming purchases. This bonus points offer is not available to existing customers who have received or are entitled to receive NAB Qantas Rewards Bonus Points for a new personal NAB Qantas Rewards credit card in the twelve months prior to the opening of a NAB Qantas Rewards Signature Card, NAB Qantas Rewards Premium Card or NAB Qantas Rewards Card. Offer is not available when closing/transferring from another NAB credit card account or in conjunction with any other NAB offer. Points will be credited to your points balance within 3 months of meeting the spend criteria.

It does ask if you're an existing NAB customer in the application but you can still say no and get all the way through to the end…

    • I too would like to know if this is possible!

    • Called up NAB, they said they'd had a number a queries recently about the offer…

The person said that although you can apply through the link, you still need to have had the offer applied to your account and that an email would've been sent to you notifying of the offer. They also said the link had probably been shared through a forum 😂

  • "…be approved and spend $3,000 on everyday purchases within 60 days of opening your account". Can someone explain which point is considered as "opening" account? Once we get the card and activate it? Thanks.

    • Often it starts the day application is approved.
I don't know for NAB, but best to check with them.

      • that's the thing. because they did use the term "..'approved' and spend $3000.." earlier in the statement, but they didn't use the same term when talking about the 60 days.

      • +1

Yeh CS said its the day they include my details into the system, essentially the same as my approval date..

  • This has to be the best card I have ever churned. Didn't receive an email for this, confirmed with CS rep via live chat before applying that I was eligible for this offer in the system and ready to go (existing NAB bank account only).

Applied and approved within 12 hours, got card within 7 days, spent $3k on the dot. First Statement came through on calendar day 14, 123k points confirmed on statement ready to post into Qantas.

Just waiting on points to post into Qantas now and should get full annual fee refund, awesome deal.

    • How long ago did you apply?

      • +1

Applied and approved on 12/10. Spotted this from the last deal but wasn’t sure how targeted it was.

        • Good to know! Glad they honour it as it was marked expired on previous deal.

    • Did you just chat via the NAB website? I've tried twice but they said they don't know about it and I need to contact the cards team directly via phone?

  • Just got the card, thanks for the tip to check if QFF is linked, will help avoiding delays.

so how quickly are the bonus points show up ? right after I go over the $3K spend ? will I see it in the NAB online banking login? or have to wait for statement?

Also, does anyone know if paying ATO bill counts towards the $3k ? thanks

    • +1
      1. Bonus Points should be credited 1 day after the statement in which you made the minimum spend. As you confirmed, need to make sure they have your QFF number on file by calling them, mine didn't and I need to wait 30 days for the next statement now.
      2. You won't see it in your online banking, your statement will outline the points earned and bonus points earned for that month.

You should be able to pay the ATO through Sniip or BeemIt I believe to be eligible. I did it through Zip Pay a few months ago and worked fine on an ANZ card, but I think Sniip or BeemIt should work.

      • awesome, many thanks.

Didnt know about Sniip, will definitely use them !

  • Just an FYI - Managed to get a pro rata refund on my ANZ black FF when I closed it. $100 back on $225 annual fee. Was open 7 months so can’t complain.

    • Do you have a home loan with them? Or was it automatic ?

    • Did you have to request or they refund the fees automatically?

      • I asked when I called to cancel. Definitely not automatic. No home loan.

        • Oh wow. Must look into it if that's the case. Previously they never gave pro-rata.

        • I didn't ask, they just gave me a payout figure that included the refund.

          • @Nuggets: Same here. I think it’s standard process for NAB.

            • @bozbargain: When i called up to cancel the card, the CS guy told me the payout amount without me asking.

    • Adding in my experience to let people know that I cancelled my card after 2 months (met the spend, had the 120,000 points credited to my QFF frequent flyer points), got the $200 back AND called to cancel the card, asked for a pro rata refund and they credited me $370 back to my statement.

So basically ANZ paid me $100 to give me 120,000 QFF points? I think thats my favourite CC churn ever.

      Thankyou @Jj456 for the tip!

  • What is this referring to existing pre-assessed NAB customers?

  • got my card today, rang NAB to check my QFF is on file. It wasnt.

so like few ppl suggested, make sure you call to check !!! or wait another month for your points.

    • Which number did you call to talk to NAB? Thanks!

      • Just the generic number from NAB website.

        • Call the number at the back of the card instead. You'll be in a priority queue. I was only on hold for less than a minute. Need select the option that talk to the banker or else they going to send you around.

  • Approved in less than 24 hours - Great service by NAB

    • Rang NAB to discuss this point. And they confirmed it did not mean existing customers only. And if I was able to proceed and be approved should all be above board.

  • +1

Just got my 100,000 points yesterday, did the live chat today to cancel the card. Got a pro rated refund of the annual fee, total out of pocket = $16.24

edit: mind you I got this card through this previous deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/648858

    • Did they credit the refund to your NAB credit card?

They told me that they credit to my credit card first then manually transfer to my transaction account later - which could be 30 days. What a strange way to do.

      • So the way it was handled for me was I was told that if I paid the full amount on the same day I closed the card, they quoted me a payout figure that was the current outstanding balance minus the pro rata refund.

      • I had paid the full balance and chat asked if it was ok to transfer the refund to my nab account.
I noticed it was paid to credit card last week, then I contacted chat again. They would transfer to my account in +-5 weeks.
Today the refund on credit card was undone by a purchase authorisation of the same amount.
I assume to transfer the money in my account, although I haven't received it yet.

        • +1

They have undo the refund from my CC yesterday and the amount has deposited today into my transaction account.

  • Hi, does anyone know if the complimentary card insurance covers Covid related medical expenses? I couldn't find anything in the booklet https://www.nab.com.au/content/dam/nab/documents/policy/insu…

  • So they way I'm reading it is you don't have to wait 12 months from closing the card but from the time your received bonus points from a previous deal?? I'm asking as I closed my nab signature card in July 2021 but I had the bonus points credited back in Dec 2020. Hoping I can apply next month! What you guys think?

  • is there a way to check if all my purchases qualified for the points and will come through the next statement ? Do I have to call them ? I paid ATO bill using Sniip along with few bills to get me to the $3k spending limit but wanted to make sure I get them vs waiting.

    • I guess only call them and ask or wait for the statement.

      • thanks, last time I called I was on hold for nearly 30 mins so trying to avoid that but if no other way … will do that.

        • Did you call the number at back of the card? It' was very fast for me, like less than 5 minutes at around 10am on a week day.

          • @timhn: yes, called and was on hold for 20 mins and then had to go to a meeting.

in saying that, I just received an email from NAB saying congrats, I reached my $3000 spending and earned 120k points which will be awarded by 14th Dec 2021.

  • I use another credit card for major purchases due to better insurance. Can I fulfil the spend criteria on this NAB credit card by simply paying off the credit card bill for my primary credit card using Beemit?

    • LOL, you are not the first one to ask that question when BeemIt allowed add credit card.

      Short answer, no.

      https://www.beemit.com.au/faq?topic=4407788662169&question=3…

      • That doesn't say you can't do it. It says you can use the linked credit card to pay a bill. So I can use the linked credit card to Bpay the bill of the other credit card.. right? What have I got wrong here?

        • I just tried to pay a credit card bill via Bpay on Beemit using a linked credit card. It worked.

Now just need to confirm if that meets the spend criteria. I think it does

          • @0FoxGiven: Mate, i stand corrected. Well done. Let us know they approved the transaction.

          • @0FoxGiven: interested to know from who to who? I just attempted A_Z to N_B and vica versa and both failed due to payment source not accepted.

            • @theblake: Ye BeemIt doesn't prevent the payment being processed, it's the banks that don't accept the credit card bill being paid off with another credit card :(

I also realized it after trying to pay off another card with the NAB card

  • got my card, did the spend, got the points pretty much right away in my QFF account, all up less than 10 days or so since first spend. Not bad.

I wonder if I can ring up now and cancel … I assume not due to first statement not issued yet (and the annual fee charged to it) but will try.

    • +1

You can close it via the web chat - that what I did.

      • thanks, did that. got full annual fee refunded.

this was the best deal ever !!!! free 120k points which just paid for business class flight to Europe !

        • Don’t forget the taxes on top. Haven’t had much luck finding 120k flights to Europe. I did see some 150k fares with Cathay which I booked for my parents.

    • Quick q, were you a pre-assessed customer/were you targeted for this offer? Or did you just sign up as a brand new customer?

      • +1

I'm an existing NAB customer - only have a very old active transaction account with them. Note, my salary does not go into this one.

      • +1

        No, wasnt targeted or pre-assessed.

Just applied using the link from here.

  • Just cancelled, had the card open for 2 weeks and will be getting the full annual fee back 2ez

    • So you cancelled before the Qantas points hit your QFF account? Living on the edge…

      • No I paid off the statement as soon as I got it and the QFF points hit before I cancelled - all within 2ish weeks

  • Is the offer now for 90K points instead of 120K points? Their latest credit card offer has been updated with the following information:

    • Points will be awarded on a tiered basis: 90,000 bonus points when you spend $3,000 in the first 60 days+30,000 bonus points when you keep your card open for over 12 months.*
    • I clicked through the OP's link and it still shows as 120k points.

  • Just received confirmation email confirming 120k points to be added to QFF account after I had reached min spend.

    • How long after reaching the min spend did you receive the confirmation email?

      • Probably a week or two

    • @Jj456 have you received the points to your QFF account? I wonder how long it would take from receipt of the email til they appear on QFF, as I received my confirmation email yesterday.

      • I received mine a week after hitting the spend, but I think it coincided with my monthly statement being issued on the same day. I saw it in my frequent flyer account before I got the confirmation email.

  • Has this offer changed? Looks to be 90k now with only an extra 20k for the next year, about to apply for another churn card but can't decide which to do for QFF

    • Yea changed now I think.
