$99 Telstra Mobile Plan with 150GB Data on a 12-Month Contract, $30 Monthly Credit & Bonus $500 Gift Card @ JB Hi-Fi in-Store

1971

This is a variation of what is normally available.
Have just been sent a flyer showing this deal for this weekend only.

$99 a month
150gb of data with no excess data charges (capped speeds)
5g availability
12 month contract (not the 24 they are doing now)
$30 monthly credit. (Assuming for first 12 months)
$500 gift card. (No expiry)

Effectively $69 a month
Minimum total cost over 12 months is $828

$828-500=328
$328/12 = $27 a month

It's no $59 a month with $500 giftcard but you get 70gb extra.

            • @asian bargain hunter: No. I got 6 months tho. I'm cool with that. Spent 1 hours on the chat,3 numbers worth $180. Won't do it just for 1 number tho.. Not worth it.

this is my third year doing one of these deals I have successfully gone to JB done the needful and gone home to start the interesting part.
So I already have a postpaid plan with Telstra that's out of contract that I want to cancel but I want the number to replace the new one I got today something some other people around here have done in the past including myself.
It's a pretty simple process if you get the right person
That being said it wasn't until I spoke to the third agent that they just went and processed it.

My first year https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/463981 I got the TV

My second year https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/534532 I got an XS max 512 Space grey for this

This stuff is keeping me with Telstra

    • Yeah. Did a speed test. Got 1.4gb. Telstra 5g just getting better and better., burned 1.1gb of data doing that speed test….

Also got the $10 port in credit every month with the first helper using the telstra help chat, makes this a very good deal!

$10/m seemed too hard to work out for my rep - so they gave me $100 upfront credit instead, close enough in my books!

I’ve just received an email from Telstra stating there was a change to my contract. Taking a look at the contract it looks like the $30 credit that was applied from the JB store deal was removed and replaced with the $10 one.

I spoke to another Telstra rep via the chat this morning and got them to confirm my overall monthly price after the credits and they did confirm it was $59 a month.

I’ll wait and see what my first bill looks like and keep you all posted but I’m interested to know if any of you also received this email.

Same, $10 credit but jb portion is gone, going to confirm with another ref first

      • Keep us posted :)

  • Any one successfully got $10 credit for new number + transfer old number?

    Update:

If you have received a new contract from Telstra with the $10 monthly credit instead of the JB $30 then you need to contact Telstra to have them revert it.

Since both credits are applied the same way you can only have one on a contract at a time. Therefore you cannot have the $10 monthly welcome credit if you already have a JB monthly credit applied.

One way around this is to ask the Telstra rep to apply the credit as a bulk credit.

    • Thank you so much for this update! I’ll get the rep to apply as a bulk credit when I get my bill.

    • This, spent about 6 chats since yesterday and last one finally gave me bulk credits of $120.

New number + brings old numbers across.

Also, received messages from Telstra if I recontract $69 plan I had I would get $10 credit but didn't mentioned $69 part.

Worth couple of hours while working haha

  • I signed up for this and was billed for Nov twice - once upon sign up and once in Dec. Apparently Telstra charges one month in advance and will credit this back when I cancel or change plans.

Wasn’t aware of this and can’t find details.. can someone please confirm this?

    • I got the same, this is normal based on reading online. Also if you are changing plans, you will also get a credit for the month in advance from the previous plan.
