Prebuilt Gaming PC, i9-9900KF, MSI Gaming X RTX 3060, Gigabyte Z390, 16GB RAM, 500GB SSD, 650W PSU $1699 + Shipping @ BPC Tech

1310

G'day fallas, first post so let me know if I've done anything wrong, or left something out.

Full Spec List:
* Intel® Core™ i9-9900KF Processor
* Gigabyte Z390 UD LGA1151 ATX Motherboard
* Kingston 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3200Mhz RGB Version
* MSI RTX 3060 GAMING X 12gb Graphic Card
* Corsair 4000D Airflow Tempered Glass ATX Case
* Coolermaster V Gold 650W 80PLUS Gold Modular Power Supply
* 500GB NVMe SSD
* 2TB 3.5" HDD
* 1x front and 1x Rear 120mm fans included

The GPU is LHR. And they don't really specify which SSD and HDD they got. However, there doesn't seem to be any compromises in any of the other specs. Full ATX Z-type motherboard, 650W 80Plus gold modular, dual-channel 16gb 3200 mhz (rgb if you care), and a i9-9900KF. I know there are better CPU's out there, mainly Ryzen ones with similar price for better performance (multi-core at least), but for gaming at the very least, this CPU holds up fine and seems to be good for the price.
PSU also supposedly has a 10-year warranty, not familiar with that aspect so don't know how nominal that is. Only thing is that there are only 2 fans included and no wifi adapter, but you can easily buy 2 more fans for like 40-50 bucks, and unfortunately you'll have to cough up 60-70 dollars if you need wifi. Estimated shipping time according to description seems to be about 2 weeks. So not great but just take it as a rough estimate if you will.

Honestly, did a light search for prebuilt PC's and I think this is a good deal but I wanted to hear what ozbairganers had to say, and if it is then why not post it for people. You could probably get something with a better GPU around the same price, maybe even a 3060 ti, but I've found that usually they have a worse CPU.

      Can't you see that they're LegitimatelyLegit though?

  • +9

    Shipping isn't free BTW, it's $32.75 to postcode 3000, or $61.10 to NSW.

    • +11

      And $120 to ship in internationally (to Queensland)

      • +3

        How did Queensland get independence before WA?

        • haha nah I just mean physically it feels like another country. Also how did I get negged for this lol, I'm in QLD

    • +15

      Let me know when you manage this

    • +16

      I feel you shouldn't base your neg on your feelings. Show us a list of same parts for less and we can talk about it

      9900KF ($549) + Gaming X 3060 ($1080) = $1629 for the CPU and GPU alone. Seems like a pretty decent deal even if the gpu dropped down in price

      • +2

        Very true, so you are almost just paying CPU+GPU, and get the rest FREE !!!

      • -6

        A 3060 isn't $1080

        • +5

          It is right now

            @Jon M: Three days ago it wasn't :

            If someone can't wait three days for a better price…they need to question their dedication to a bargain!

            • +11

              @incipient: That’s $11 difference! I thought you were gonna say it was like $800…

            • +3

              @incipient: Something happening three days ago doesn't mean it's going to happen again in three days time.

              • +1

                @Schmiddler: True, but quoting a 3060 at $1080 today, when a 3060ti was $1080 three days ago feels a bit misleading. Even in this market.

                • @incipient: What's the difference between the Ti and the non Ti?

      • +4

        And a 9900kf isn't a great decision

        • +2

          Agreed but you can't have everything.

          For those that don't know the F indicates that no iGPU is on the CPU. iGPU can be useful in many situations. It's not a reason to not buy this system though.

      Just searched amazon and ebay for prices of each, don't know what brand the SSD and HDD but even they would cost at least another $150 and the total already $2234 - even if you managed to shop around and find each a bit cheaper i hardly think you get close to $1699, happy for anyone to prove me wrong

      CPU  Intel® Core™ i9-9900KF Processor  $460.00
      Cooler  Noctua U12 Redux Premium Air Cooler $68.00

        If you happened to want these specific parts then it's ok. It seems unbalanced and a pretty narrow use case, though. You can also get a 10700kf (about the same as the 9900kf) and newer motherboard for the same price if you were buying components, and this is a terrible motherboard if you actually want to overclock to make the most of this CPU (check reviews).

        If buying for gaming you're better off skimping on other parts and getting a 3060Ti ($1048 at techfast, so less than you have this specific model of 3060 at) or 6700xt as the GPU will be the limiting factor for gaming. If not gaming then the GPU is wasted.

        So I guess this will suit you if you do heavy multicore/multithreaded work and occasional 1080p gaming or play older games (eg Witcher 3 should run great at 1440p, cyberpunk definitely won't) or maybe a little bit of 3D modelling in blender or similar from time to time.

        To be specific, if buying a prebuilt today for gaming around this price point I'd spend $100-200 more and get this techfast PC https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/658509
        Personally I'd go for the PSU upgrade and wifi motherboard but the PC would be fine without those.
        They'll probably have a similar or better deal in November in the lead up to black Friday.

      • -1

        if you're willing to spend 460 on an i9 and all of these for full price then sure it will be this price

        • Okay, so where do we get a cheaper i9-9900KF?

          • @giordan0: Why would you buy one (outside of a PC/bundle) when you can get a 10700KF for less, and a Z490 motherboard for about the same price?

  • +7

    I think the 9th gen is starting to show its age. An 11600 seems to be better value at this stage. It's generally faster, and a good bit cheaper.

    • If you've got workloads that benefit from more cores/threads, is this better than more modern 6c/12t?

      • +3

        You could probably buy an 8c/16t 11th Gen i7 for a similar price to the 9th gen i9

      • The 11600 is about even with this on multicore tasks, possibly worse in some areas, probably better if you can use new instruction sets. But basically even. For less green.

    • +2

      I think the 9th gen is starting to show its age

      It's really not, it's barely behind the current gen on performance.

      • +1

        Depending on the exact price for each part, with a 11600 you're basically paying $200 less for a part that performs fairly similarly, and sometimes better. Around $350 vs $550, ish.

      • This 9th gen chip is pretty much a 10700KF, not really that old.

        They're obviously discounting the 9th gen parts to get to this price, changing them 9th for 11th gen probably wouldn't result in any savings.

    Corsair 4000D Airflow Tempered Glass Micro ATX Case

    Corsair 4000D Airflow is ATX.

    • +2

      Thanks, makes sense as to how there can be an ATX-sized motherboard in there. The site lists it as both ATX and micro-ATX though, so I just got confused.

  • +3

    Username checks out. Seems legit.

  • +5

    We really need more of these cheaper prebuilt deals coming! Good work, keep it 'down' please!

    • I think they're starting to come with Black Friday fast approaching

    • +2

      We really need cheaper video cards, everything else is easy to source.

  • How does this compare in terms of specs to an M1 iMac? (Not for gaming)

    • +11

      Apples and oranges. Both are computers (fruit), it really comes down to your use case.

    • +2

      Generally speaking Apple gets you less bang for buck in terms of processing power.

      It might still be worth it for the OS or certain apps or use cases. For example musicians usually choose Apple because the audio subsystem is much better than Windows.

      RTX 3060 Mini?

      • +9

        There was an anecdotal comment saying that they received a 3060 when they ordered a 3060 Ti and a power supply that was of a weaker spec than what was ordered.

        The machine I purchased had the right parts, however the tower cpu heatsink fan was making clicking noise and had to be replaced, and it was also installed pointing the wrong way (exhausting air to the front of the case rather than the back). Spent $17 on a replacement fan, asked for the reimbursement but BPC did not reply or just didn't bother.

        Clear also had an issue with liquid cooler mounted incorrectly.

        Just small things that are not a huge issue if you know how to identify it. Well, apart from buying a 3060 Ti and getting a non-Ti.

        • +4

          Not to mention they lied about the USB-C port in the Corsair 4000D would work with the motherboard despite not having a USB-C header. Then the solution they offered they never went through with when accepted.

          It would seem the motherboard in this deal does have the correct header at least.

          • @Clear: Hi, Clear,

            Would that be possible for you to share your order number with us through a private chat? We are more than willing to help.

            If you have any record of your previous conversation with us, please send it to our FB team, and we will look into it to find out which sales/Technician gave you the wrong info. And most likely, we will fire the individual as the act of misleading customers is intolerable.

            Also, plz tell us what the 'solution' you mentioned above is. We will see if we can work out a better one for you.

            Sincerely,
            BPC Team

            • +1

              @BPC Technology: I can certainly speak to the FB team about it, but I think sacking someone over it would be extreme. If anything I think it's important to have the team trained better.

              • @Clear: Thanks for your advice.

                We've already informed the FB team, please don't hesitate to get in touch with them.

                We are happy to offer you a proper mobo with USB-C header. Please contact them for shipping details,

                Regards,
                BPC Team

          My BPC Kraken had all fans set to exhaust, No RGB's work & the EVGA Flow Control also does not work & this was apparently all tested before leaving warehouse.
          I rang & asked to be fixed, I was told bring it in & we will look at it when we have time, we're busy filling other orders.
          I asked for it to be checked straight away if I brought it in & was told "NO" they will check it when they have time.

          I live 1.5hrs away & didn't want it sent through the post…

            @ThePunchingBag: Sounds like it's being run by Eddie from Fluidtek.

            • +1

              @Clear: @thepunchingbag what happened to Eddie and Fluidtek? I remember him always having a smoke while serving the customers and him having his police hand cuffs on display to show his power.

                @Schezwon: Classic fast eddie. I think his comparison of Julia Gillard to Adolf Hitler was pretty funny.

                He's been running Logitech Shop for quite a while now (or his son I can't remember). I purchased from their eBay store only a few months ago and it was a good experience.

                https://www.logitechshop.com.au/about-us/

          • @ThePunchingBag: Hi ThePunchingBag,

            We noticed your reply under the other post. We asked you if you could contact our FB Team if possible, but it seems you didn't reply.

            Don't hesitate to contact our FB Team with your order number, and if possible, the name of the signature on the Thank you card.

            Have you met any thermal problems? Because the reason why the fans are all set to exhaust is to set negative room pressure in the build. Therefore the air will be sucked from the bottom automatically.

            As for the EVGA flow control issue, have you tried to update or reinstall the EVGA flow control driver, or have you tried to manage the RGB from the motherboard sync software?

            We definitely can manage the return and full refund to you, If you are not happy with the build.

            Sincerely,
            BPC Team

        • Hi Scrimshaw,

          Apologies first for not responding to you on time.

          Please provide your order number and replacement fan invoice to our FB team, and we will arrange the reimbursement this Friday.

          Sincerely,
          BPC Team

    Delivery with fastway lol? They might break it 😆

    • +2

      couriers in general are extremely rough. my last prebuilt was delivered with a massive dent in the case and DoA. never again

      • +4

        Thanks for the experience but i will not use these 2 :fastway or courier please

        • same… Couriers Please especially. I won't buy from retailers who use them!

    • might?

    • +2

      Which would suck because the warranty will be over by the time Fastway deliver.

  • +1

    Can I buy this and received the parts in boxes, then less chance of fast way damaging anything.

  • Looks like a NH-U12S cpu cooler too. not bad at all.

    • -1

      This cooling design is very poor. The cooler is the redux version, it is not enough to run 9900k at stock even. Intel k series can use way more than TDP when u remove power limiter. And I would assume they won't put enough fans to keep air flow high to remove the hot air. Air cooler relies on good case fan to work well unlike AIO, which is the exhaust itself. And the mobo is basic too.
      If buy this bundle, get three arctic p12. Put two on the cooler, and one as the exhaust fan facing the cooler, put the included case fan as intake, the noctua redux fan on the top

      • +1

        CPU temps will be fine, cooling will only be a problem if you're running at 100% continuously, which you won't be during gaming.

        • +1

          To add on top this case is one the best for airflow too.

          • @Clear: It's a fantastic case only if u can take advantage of the low air resistance. One intake and one exhaust fan is not enough to keep the CPU and GPU cool at low load. I prefer to keep CPU temp 15 C above ambient temp

            • @s20525xxx: You'd be silly to keep it at 1 front and 1 rear.

              • @Clear: I bet lots of people buy this would…

                • +1

                  @s20525xxx: That's what you get for buying from BPC. They'll probably be all set to exhaust too.

  • How is this even possible when the parts alone are like 2.1-2.2k?

    • Hence….a bargain?

    • Can you build it and sell it for 1699?

    • +3

      Perhaps:

      • Rebate by supplier/manufacturer due to age of parts;
      • Rebate by ^/^ to move stock;
      • Sell some parts at a loss to move stock (esp since 12th gen Intel is around the corner, and some of those parts are old or not great).
      • Received more stock at cheaper price, and using that stock in pre-builts whilst maintaining high (old) pricing for individual items (e.g., if BPC received more RTX3060's at a lower cost per card, they may use those cards in these builds and sell older cards for the same price seperately, rather than reducing retail price according to the average, reduced, cost per card).

      From my experience in tech retail, there's heaps of ways BPC could do this - and sometimes while maintaining margins :)
      Hope that helped!

    • Economies of scale

  • +4

    bunch of 3yr old parts they are trying to get rid of by bundling it with a 30 series

  • +2

    People above are whinging about older parts being mixed in to the components, but pricing this system up I can't see how you could buy each of the components on your own for cheaper.

    Good post OP, have a plus vote.

  • Seems a good deal unless you need the latest gen CPU!

    • Quick way is to buy the new released Alienware Aurora R13, then you can get the latest 12th gen Intel prebuilt machine, but is like paying 2.5X more …

  • Wish they offered the Ti upgrade as an option..

    • They now offer it for $350 extra. For reference, RTX 3060 by itself ~ $950, RTX 3060 Ti ~ $1200.

  • +3

    I've checked this GPU and it doesn't seem to have a PCIE slot at the back

    What does that even mean…?

    • +1

      Confused also.

      • Yeah I meant the PCIe power connectors, sorry for the wrong wording. Removed that part cause I realised how unnecessary that is considering it's a prebuilt.

        • what do you mean by the GPU doesn’t have power connectors?? i’m pretty sure the 3060 does

    • Would mean the pcie power plugs I'd say

  • Still expensive though, expect to see some much cheaper builds, 9900kf is still usable but definite not an ideal choice.

  • +2

    There's still stock of Intel 9th gen cpu? 12 gen out in a few days.

  • -6

    Not windows 11 certified, so a discount will be required to buy this system for Windows 10.

    • +5

      Wanna speak to the manager?

      • -1

        Not really, I'm sure Microsoft can.

        • It’s okay, most people are used to not getting software updates for their devices.

          • -2

            @askbargain: I'll agree, my phones never been updated before, however with the pc I'm divided on that.

            I'm hoping windows 10 becomes the anti Christ to windows 11 and the sheer number of hardware parts flooding the market (given crypto people only want the GPU, and SSD) would make people consider what value is, and paying a fortune for Windows 11 (because clearly Microsofts thought hard about it, after the countless products they've abandoned over the years) because that's essentially what people will be doing.

            And when the next arrival of gpu's come out, people will have to make one huge moral conscious buying purchase on what's important to them.

            Windows 10, with affordable parts + expensive GPU.

            Or

            Windows 11 with expensive everything.

            • +1

              @LoserScott: Are you sure?
              My 9600k installs win11 just fine. I'm pretty sure 11 is supported by 8th gen intel and over?

              • @Thongus: You are correct. Some 7th Gen CPUs are also supported officially.

              • @Thongus: It works fine, OP is just bs’ing to see if he can get a further discount.

            • @LoserScott: If you want the latest, pay for it.

  • +2

    A mate of mine bought a prebuilt from these guys recently. Despite the "testing" done before shipping. it came with a faulty cpu fan that was shorting out the 2nd fan and pump on the aio cooler. led's werent plugged into the hub, and despite paying extra for an internal wifi Bluetooth card, he had no Bluetooth because the build now has 3 internal usb components and only 1 usb header on the board being split into 2. The support he got was pretty poor too, had to call multiple times to get any help, and waited weeks for a replacement fan after someone "forgot" to send it.

    • Hi Bloggs24,

      We are sorry to hear about your friend's experience.

      Would that be possible for you to ask him for the order number? We will look into the order and talk to the technician who built his PC.
