    • +1

Being in Australia , can I buy Kindle books on this from the Us site?

      • +1

Yes absolutely, I have been doing this for a long time now.

  • +2

"selected items.. But not sure which ones"

    That's some crucial information….

    • so if i have 6 credit cards (which i do) i can technically get $30 free and only have to pay an addition $80 for the crucual ssd…woot!

im gunna see if i can find another 6 credit cards to get 50% off

  • +3

It's only saving $5, which isn't much for the extra complexity..

    • It took me about 30 seconds to buy it, most of which was entering my account password and then another thirty seconds to apply the code once the email arrived. I wouldn't say it was remotely complex.

  • +1

Wow like 2 clicks pause a minute click again and I've got $10 credit on my Amazon account for only $5.

  • +1

    • Purchase of GCs on AmazonLocal is valid for US-based customers only

is there an expiry date for these cards?

    • +2

      What You Need to Know

      • Amazon.com Gift Cards (“GCs”) do not expire

    • +2

No expiry, I just bought 1 for myself, it's working.

  • +1

I just doubled my money in less than a minute! Thanks heaps!

  • Nice and easy deal. Already added the GC amount to my account, and it looks like it can be used like any other GC. Did a test order and it works perfectly for Blu-ray and books, which I'm guessing is what most people use Amazon.com for, right?

    • +1

      hey DVD guy,
did you buy Ebooks to be used here on the kindle ?

      • +1

Considering that the Deal details on the link specifically mention kindle books I'd be pretty disappointed if it didn't work

I know fine print says 1 per house hold

but its more like 1 per amazon account.. I brought 2 with 2 different amazon emails (same address and it works fine)

  • +1

Deal purchased and applied the credit manually to amazon GC amount, deal works, thanks OP

  • +1

    Done. Sweet find OP, thanks!

EDIT: huh that was odd. Just after the transaction my bank phoned me to confirm that the transaction was legit. First time that's ever happened!

    • +1

They sometimes do it if you don't normally have an international transaction and one pops up. Westpac did that to me when I got back to Aus and a transaction went through… after living OS for 10 years :D

  • +2

sweat thanks, that CF card i was looking at getting just cost me 15$ less :)

used 3 accounts 2 of mine and the misses account and all worked fine..

    • isnt it the gift card is linked to your account? so each time you log in one account, you can only use that $10 gift card?

      • +2

i redeemed all 3 codes to my main amazon account and shows a balance of $30.00

        • thanks, actually i figured out as soon as i redeemed it.

    • Just a heads up on multiple accounts, I recently followed an epic thread about a guy that had his amazon account closed by Amazon apparently due to running multiple accounts this meant he was locked out of all of his purchased digital content. Now in the end it turned out to be a bit more complicated than that as apparently he had what they called a high rate of returns after a battle back and forth his account was reopened but it was a pia. I have 2 accounts one Aust. one US but I would be wary of running more than one in a region especially if using the same email or address or credit card details.

  • It won't let me purchase using the same credit card.

    • +1

I actually used 3 different cards on each just in case that was in place.. so maybe that's why mine worked.

  • -8

even if the voucher is not valid for what ever you are buying, you are not paying for the voucher now(you will pay only when you purchase some stuff with that voucher) so if you don't use it you are not loosing any thing… it is a free $5 without any investment from your pocket. :) good find.

    • +4

Wrong, they take $5 USD out of your credit card straight away.

      • yep, they got it from my card also… guess i was wrong.

  • Anyone know if this will work for the Amazon AppStore and more specifically, this deal?

    • +1

should work.. only $5 to find out

    • There's a lot of hoops to jump through just to get an Application from the Amazon appstore, that being:

      1. Your Amazon account needs to be American-based (i.e. you used a fake American address, phone number, etc)
      2. You need to use a VPN to purchase the application, otherwise you just get region blocked when you click Purchase
      3. I believe they check your CC to see if it's American.

It's a lot of hassle just for $5 saving.

  • for US customers only?

    • +2

The Amazon Local page states it's for US residents only, but I was able to purchase the gift card, apply it to my Amazon account and have just bought a DVD with no problems using the voucher. All with an Australian shipping address and card.

  • +1

Deal must charge in US dollars as debit got hit on CC for AU$4.75

    • +13

What other currency would you expect?

  • When I purchased it already filled in my CCard details from my Amazon account, has anyone purchased using an Amazon account that didn't already have credit card details attached and if so did it then save those payment details in said Amazon account?
I have a US amazon account with no credit card attached and do not want the amazon.local payment details saved.

  • +3

I ordered without seeing need for a US address. Saw that only after ordering. My Amazon account only has my Australian address. But it atill worked and I now have extra $10 in my Amazoon gift cert balance.

  • Works fine, $5 for a minute or two of work, I'm happy with that.

  • +3

Now just the waiting game for another SSD deal!

  • +1

    Purchased on: 3/20/2012
    Promotional value expires: 3/20/2012

That suggests the voucher must be used immediately…

EDIT: It looks like the voucher should be applied to your Amazon account pretty quickly. However, once applied as a gift card code, everything looks fine. I only have Australian addresses saved and the following note appears on my gift card page:

    $10

"Your balance will never expire. We'll automatically apply your balance towards your next eligible purchase. "

  • +2
  • So easy and nice.

  • should we apply the voucher immediately on Amazon.com?

  • He shoots, he scores! Happy Panda! :)

  • I still have a few of the half priced $20 gift cards from last year left over. Forgot all about them.

  • So how many can u do can u make? heaps of accounts and adds up to $500 or more? Cause I want to buy some region free bluerays if it's $5 for $10 so gona buy $500 and double up! And how about shipping, what's ships to Australia?
100 accounts here I come.. Hope it works…

    • +1

      Won't work.

  • Quick painless way to earn $5. Cheers!

  • +1

Damn. Was gonna post this ;)
    ohwell. hehe :)

  • Does anyone know how to filta the options on amazon so it's easier to tell what can't be shipped to Australia than adding it and going through in circles?

  • Anyone know how to find out which item has free shipping to Australia?

If you buy an item with free shipping, and another item without free shipping, in the same transaction, will you get free shipping for the whole thing?

    • No, the free shipping is just for that item, not the whole order.

  • Follow this link if you want to download the Amazon Android App and get the free daily App - it worked for me - just did as instructed:
    http://dottech.org/tipsntricks/24397/android-how-to-get-amaz…

  • awesome got 2 :)

  • winning

  • Thanks, just got myself a GC… I wonder how much of the USD$5 I'll have after currency conversion from VISA.

    • $4.75 with my Westpac

  • Hi, thanks for the post. For those that have purchased 2, I want to do this but don't want to get charged conversion credit card fees and only have the one credit card that doesn't charge this fee. Is there any way around this? Thanks.

  • Got one, now I shop for something I don't need now :)

  • La Crosse Technology BC-700 Alpha Power Battery Charger

    Order Total: $28.31 + $5

    BOOYA!

  • Anything $10 worth buying?

  • PC game downloads!! they way to do this is to add a fake US address and use USA VPN to buy your direct digital download for PC games i got mass effect 1 for 5 USD!!

  • what to buy?

  • Anyone know hat the curredny conversion price is?

  • Never bought anything off amazon before, so can this be used for anything? like the maglite XL200 for example?
    Thanks guys.

  • If anyone has noticed, you can't buy more than one with the same credit card, it detects your credit card number and gives the message.
"""Oops! This credit card has already been used to purchase this option""

  • Now to wait for the Crucial SSD deal to come up again. People who apply this will save even more.

While you can multiple $10 cards with different accounts, you obviously can't bundle the orders together. Meaning that even though you get $5 bonus per account, you're paying for separate lots of shipping on each account. Which may be more than $5 savings.

    • No actually you buy the gift cards with separate Amazon accounts but then you apply those gift cards to the one account

    • You can apply all the coupon codes to one Amazon account to combine them.

  • Close to $4 million dollars of vouchers sold this is mind boggling.

  • +1

for more than one card to be bought, you will need a difernt amazon account, ALSO u will need difernt credit cards, using the same ones wont work.

  • Yet to receive any email, but my CC was charged $4.73.

Though, under "Your Vouchers" it first showed it was being processed, now it's showing "There are no deals of this type to show." so i'm not sure what's happening with this deal. Perhaps i'm too late!

    • Don't worry, that happened to me as well. Don't know why it disappeared but I kept checking and about 45mins later the voucher was there and it had been approved.

      • Here's hoping my confirmation comes through soon then. Bought one about five hours ago now; still getting same 'There are no deals of this type to show' message as Graffin and no email…

        • I got the same. Though it came through at 12am this morning.

  • So what exactly can we use this on? Has anyone found anything worth buying that you can use these on?

  • Awesome deal!

  • I guess the expired tag on this will mean some yanks can get some now :)

    (not actually expired :)

  • Thanks
    Please Note
Due to the popularity of today's Amazon.com Gift Card deal it may take several hours to receive our email confirming your purchase. Thanks for your patience!

    I don't think its expired yet !

    • I'm not too fussed if it takes a few hours… but I'm a little concerned now, that I get this message:

"There are no deals of this type to show" under the Vouchers section, when before, it was being "processed". Anyone getting this?

and approx. $4.77 charged to my credit card.

      • Yeah initially mine showed the order but now I get the same as you.

I'll assume with the amount they have to process it may take a little while to update.
There is contact information on the front page if its not there later.

  • I was still able to purchase, thanks.

  • This deal is still valid. I just purchased one successfully ~~

  • Great deal, thanks op!

  • Have I missed something? Why is this so popular when the saving is only $5?

    • It's not a huge $ deal, but is a very good deal - particularly for a place that doesn't do many deals of this sort. If you're a regular Amazon customer and know you'll make use of it (if not instantly then eventually), it's basically five bucks free for the sake of a couple of clicks.

    • It's basically a free $5. You spend $5, get a $10 voucher = $5 net profit.

    • I buy a lot of Ebooks a $5 saving is akin to getting the book for 50% off which is a good saving in anyones language :)
