PLSDELL

Have had heaps of enquiries on when the next Dell ebay promo will be - here it is.

First, the bad news. The rising costs of parts globally means that some of the products (including monitors) have increased in prices. I am still trying to negotiate the prices to be lower but it's a slow process (better than just getting fed deals to post, right?).

Here's a deal for the timebeing till I finalise a few for tomorrow — Price dropped for these example bargains

Pay with discounted gift cards for further savings.

          • @tidy180sx: Ah yes sorry I should of been more specific I just mean typical laptops not the 180w draw, sorry! I got a 100W output powerbank, yeah I should of thought of that too though thanks :)

        • I doubt many laptops will charge from a regular powerbank.

I have an HP and Acer laptop (13" screen) that will charge from USB C PD chargers, but not from a regular 18W powerbank even if it has native USB C. They require 45w-60w chargers.

I plugged the G15 into my 60w USB C laptop charger and it won't charge from that.

          • @edrift: All laptops that charge from usb-C PD will also charge from usb-C PD powerbanks. That’s almost all laptop nowadays. That’s the great thing about the power delivery standard. The powerbanks just have to be rated for at least 30W PD. It can even power a laptop that requires 60W, your battery will drain slower, remain constant or charge depending on how you use it.

Veni has a 100W powerbank, that will pretty much charge all usb c laptops since that’s the limit of the current pd standard.

Unfortunately gaming laptops are an exception. None of them will charge from usb c. This dell with 180W is actually considered low for a gaming laptop as it only has the 3050. The 3060 version uses 240w. It charges from a 180W dell adapter w/ round barrel plug. It also happen to use the same adapter as dell docks so easy to get it for cheap. But still not as convenient as PD.

Just a note for those considering getting the Dell laptop… I returned a Dell G15 recently (not this particular model, mine had the 3060) due to it constantly shutting itself off for no apparent reason. Gaming or not didn't mater.

I had bought mine from JB Hifi and when I took it in to have it looked at, they wanted me to sign this terms and conditions saying I understood the notebook would be repaired by Dell using REFURBISHED parts.

Now, I'm not against refurbished stuff… I owned a refurbished Sony tv that last me 9+ years. But when I pay full price for a notebook and it's faulty, the last thing I want is to get a refurbished as replacement.

Took them 36 days to sort out the notebook and in the end, JB just gave me a refund in the form of a gift card which was really cool of them.

    • Fairly standard though, even Apple does it.

      • +1

That it may be but I don't see how as a consumer I should be ok with paying full price and ending up with a refurbished item. If I had pay refurbished price, fair enough.

  • I’m eagerly waiting for a deal on a 4K monitor with USB-C such as S2722QC. Any idea if they will go on sale anytime soon? Thanks

  • Awww. Finally time to retire my S27A950 🙋‍♂️

  • XPS8940 deals this round deal are disappointing, no 3070 … If you can get the 7% K-12 discount code, it is even cheaper via their own site for 3060Ti

  • the DGF monitor is $399 via BAM. Just picked one up now

  • I jumped at 2x S2722QC $369 each. Hopefully thats decent

    • +2

      What's this bam you mention?

How do you know what you're getting if you buy from that listing? There are zero details.

What if they sent you a pile of crap?

Best Aussie Markdown - I believe it might even be Dealbots group on Facebook.

        There he provides the information

        • This is not a helpful post. Vague af.

      • I'd stick with the manufacturers official store for the difference, even if it is Dell.

    • how do you know what you are getting?

    • I would agree its unknown. The earlier G15 had horrible cooling so I wouldn't pay any money for that.

Was always looking for a G15 Ryzen, but because of the deal, ended up getting an Alienware for under $2k (3050 TI, didn't need the greatest as I mainly play Path of Exile) because I wanted the better screen without PWM.

    • -2

Shouldn't have posted that on here!

  • Are any of the non-gaming laptops any good? Looking to buy one for my parents.

There are also some here that are Black Friday deals but just not on ebay: https://deals.dell.com/en-au/category/popular-laptop-deals

    Any help would be appreciated!

  • Any thoughts on the price for the G15 5511? The display is better than the 5515. Maybe for photo editing?

    • Only if you need the screen. The 5511 is over $300 more then then 5515.

    • The 5515 is ok.

For serious editing just use an external monitor else the laptop screen is too small regardless of the quality of picture.

I went into buying the 5515 with low expectations. It has met every one of those low expectations and exceeded them.

For under $1k for a decent spec laptop is good value.

The only time I wouldn't recommend it is if you need to travel with it. It's bulky and heavy and the charger is gigantic

      • Thanks for the info. Looks like you need to go for a higher 5511 spec for 100% sRGB which is >$2k

  • Does anyone know what the delivery time from Dell official store is? It says up to Dec 30 on my order for the G5515 laptop, which is a bit absurd.

    • +1

You can get it expedited to next day delivery. Message them after ordering and ask them if it's possible to cancel because of the long wait time.

I did that and it arrived the next day

      • Is that a different price?

        • +1

          Nope.

They basically just prioritise stock for people who buy via direct dell website instead of eBay. They have all the stock there ready to go.

Rather than lose a sale they can just push it to get dispatched immediately.

On their direct website next day delivery is standard

          • @edrift: Unfortunately they refused to send it out any faster, claiming that it is built to order.

            • @Jimbuscus: Bummer. Maybe try again next week?

It would've been a huge coincidence that on the day I asked them to cancel my order they told me it was going to get delivered the next day so that couldn't cancel it (and to my disbelief it actually turned up the next day).

At that point I had been waiting less than 2 weeks

    • It wouldn't surprise me if they take that long, or even longer. I ordered a laptop through the store, and it showed 4 to 6 weeks delivery. After the four weeks I called up to enquire, and they had cancelled the order without bothering to tell me. Took an additional 8 weeks to get my money back. It was a shocking insight into how badly a business can be run.

  • I'd say wait for RTX 2060 deals, which would be more superior than RTX 3050.

    • +1

The rtx 2060 is last Gen, so maybe not many deals for it as places would only be clearing out old stock, probably in very limited quantities.

  • +1

Yeaaaaah , bought this for a Xmas gift for my Son , ………Oh No :(

" Order total: AU $979.00 You should get it by 30 Dec".

    • I will be fairly angry if it does take that long, I contacted support and they reckon it takes 20 days to build it to custom order, despite being a preconfigured listing. My guess is they don't actually have the stock and are selling backorders, not guaranteeing Christmas in mid November is not great, but I guess thats what we get for this price.

    • +1

Seriously GAGF it says it explicitly before you press buy what the ETA is. Take some responsibility.

    • My monitor has been shipped!

  • Any basic laptop with good memory and lots of hard drive for home use like browsing and downloading and would last few years?

Can someone recommend and not too expensive?

  • Just bought a laptop :) It's 8gb RAM so planning to add in 16gb (to total 24gb). Does anyone know if that will still be beneficial over 8gb to use dual channel?

  • Does adding more RAM void the warranty?

    • no

  • +1

FYI - I purchased an Inspiron 15 Plus Laptop from the Dell website (current price $1471). Applied a coupon code (Dell staff discount from someone employed at a bank) stacked with the 7% standard code, and cash rewards of 12%. Came down to $1144.90. Just need to upgrade the RAM as it's 8GB. But I think it's pretty decent specs for that price, especially for the 100% sRGB screen (which I believe it is). Hope this helps! :)

  • Whats the return policy like with Dell on eBay?
It says Free Delivery and Returns. Does that mean you can return for refund after trying it out?

    • No

  • Finally bit the bullet on the G15 5515,
Thanks OP, was due an upgrade!

  • Anyone know where/how to get the discounted gift cards for this?

    • +1

      Shopback.
2% cashback off ebay gift cards

      • +1

It's 3% (same at Suncorp). 2% is the cashback rate.

        • I was going to buy the Suncorp disc GC. I noticed on the eBay Checkout though, it seems to accept only the PLSDELL coupon and doesn't allow for gift cards to used. It says 'You can only apply one voucher code to this purchase'. Any way around this?

          • @dancingbear: Is it that after I buy the GC, my eBay account will then allow for it to be used?

          • @dancingbear: You can use up to 8 gift cards in an eBay cart. If you are using a coupon code (eg PLSDELL) then you can use up to 7 gift cards.

            Hope that helps.
