    You beat me to it.

  • +13

I got the same text and checked but when I click on the banner it says I've already used my free trial… Not sure I trust them enough not to charge me, I've just been through doing a chargeback through credit card for the last time they screwed me over, F eBay.

    • +1

Said the same for me but there should be 2 check boxes, one to sign up for a year and then one for a month free trial. Select the free month and good to go

      • +3

Yeah nah, got the 2 check boxes, but:
        $4.99 per month or
        $49 per year.

Not getting any free option. I've triple checked.

You have already tested eBay Plus for free. If you sign up now, the membership fee is due immediately.

For the numbnutz that negged me:

This offer is not for everyone, it's targeted.

Did not receive any email of the offer and can't access it. Have a lapsed plus account from about a week ago.

          • +1

            @nismo: it saids

*Excludes WA, NT and TAS. T&Cs apply.

            • +1

@samelight: As per my profile, I'm in Victoria.

I think you are getting mixed up with some of the plus features exclusions….

    • After doing the trial they kept allowing some of the benefits for me like discounts and shipping lol.

    • +2

Invoiced $0 and cancelled immediately after to keep benefits.

    • This happened to me 2 years ago when 1 year free promote was on clicked on banner and it charged me in full, eBay support refused to refund i end up filing Paypal dispute

  • Just got the text as well and signed up for another month. When are the Ps5’s dropping?

    • +3

my crystal ball tells me it'll be on Black Friday

    • I'd guess next year.

  • +1

It has come to our attention that there is a technical issue with the “New 30-Day Free Trial” that was sent as part of the “Save on Black Friday deals today!” email (sent on 15 November 2021). We are working to fix the issue by the end of the week. If you received the email, subsequently signed up to an eBay Plus monthly membership and were charged, eBay will credit your account for that amount (i.e. $4.99). We will be in touch when this is processed. We apologise for any inconvenience.

    • +3

this has been fixed - see here

tried last night and wasn't charged, invoice shows as $0 for eBay Plus subscription. looks all good

      • Ah true, it's interesting that they have this still showing.

  • Guessing no Xbox Series X drops?

    • XSX will be dropping as well, however its a bundle and will cost $1250. The bundle includes:

      • Xbox Series X console
      • Xbox Elite Series 2 controller
      • FIFA 22
      • Forza Horizon 5
      • Far Cry 6
      • Rainbow Six Siege Deluxe Edition

      source: https://www.gamesradar.com/au/ebay-australia-will-have-xbox-...

      • $501 extra for stuff that's not needed on a $749 RRP product. Talk about market manipulation. Horizon 5 and Six Siege are both available on Game Pass. Not really a good deal.

  • OP you sure this works? "You have already tested eBay Plus for free. If you sign up now, the membership fee is due immediately."

    • +2

Yes. It works if you click free for first month.

    • yep, check here - I added in the invoice where it shows $0.

for some strange reason, it also shows the membership duration, ending nov 2022… we might score a free year of Plus (?)

      • Invoice shows the same but dashboard doesn't 19 December 2020.

      • +1

I got the same whereby I ticked the free for 1-month box and cancelled straight away and then saw my benefits last till Nov 2022, however I'm worried I will be charged the $49 at some stage, so maybe we are not off the hook.

EDIT: low and behold I got charged, it took a while before showing up in my credit card. On the phone now with them trying to get my money back!

      • +1

So how do we do this without any issues? can we aviod giving card details

  • Thanks OP checked and have the email. Selected the free month and now good to go.

  • +6

"You have already tested eBay Plus for free. If you sign up now, the membership fee is due immediately."

    • +2

I got that as well. Does it mean we pay for 12 months of membership and got 13 months? What a deal!

    • +1

But is it $0 anyway? I'm getting the same message.
      Edit: confirmed above

      • After joining, cancel it right away?

        • Of course! Pretty you keep the benefits until the end of the period.

  • -1

ps5s? really? lol on ebay?? droped in price??? so they are all RRP price now?

  • +3

When is the last day to claim the month?

    • would like to know this as well

  • Son of a beesting, I just renewed mine yesterday! Should’ve waited!

  • +9

Better to join as late as possible to benefit from a full month that covers Boxing Day as well.

    • Multiple accounts but that $90 spend for $10 back wouldn't stack.

    • +2

Agreed. On the flip side, eBay could pull this promo if it reaches their marketing cap in the next 3 days, and then you get nothing.

  • +2

Finally a free membership deal where the moral police wouldnt have a problem.!

  • +3

    mine says

You have already tested eBay Plus for free. If you sign up now, the membership fee is due immediately.

    Free for your first month

im not sure if it will charge me

    • It did charge me for $0.00. Then the next real payment is due in December.

  • Thanks Op.

Can I cancel now and keep it until December. Or should I put a reminder and just cancel it day before next charge?

    • Cancel now. You will still have the membership until December.

  • +2

    No WA NT or TAS

  • *Excludes WA, NT and TAS.

    • that’s for

Free express metro delivery on millions of eBay Plus items*

assuming it costs them too much to cover express shipping to those areas

  • +2

Forgot to claim the $30 before renewing membership….time to handover my ozbargain certificate 📜

    • Can you remind us all how to do that?

  • I had a banner saying get $40 off your next ebay plus purchase but that has disappeared now . Not sure whether they will offer it again

    • +1

Dad's account still has that banner.

    • I got it too, but when you click that banner, it will charge you the full $49 but when you click this banner, it will charge you the $49.00 after the 1 month free trial.

I think eBay knew people will try claim both

  • +1

I got charged for $49 and I had to ring eBay to get it fixed. I should get money back next Monday.

    • Were you charged instantly? I'm wondering if the same thing has happened to me as I signed up for the 1 month free and canceled straight away, but it is saying I will still enjoy the benefits till 19 Nov 2022, so I'm wondering if it will charge me soon. I checked my credit card and there is no charge presently. Also, in case I need it, what is the number you called for eBay?

EDIT: Low and behold I ended up getting charged the $49 and am now on the phone with them trying to sort it out.

    • +2

I've found that if you accidentally let it renew, they refund you but don't cancel your plus

  • Checked it out and found I had forgotten to cancel a free annual membership from 6 months ago, phew, thanks OP you saved me $49!

  • +1

I remember the nightmare of unsubscribe subscription to eBay Plus. Even though I did it in PayPal they still charged me for another year.

    • Yes, indeed.
Many folks here got caught out by it. It didn't help that eBay customer service were absolute *****.

  • +2

Just signed up for this and ticked the "free for 1 month box" but immediately got charged for the full year $49 on my CC

    • +1

      Thank you

    • Wow they really have stuffed this up

      • +1

just got off chat with them and they said they will refund me but only after the invoice is generated at end of month… hopefully im just one of the few unlucky ones

  • "Excludes WA, NT and TAS."

  • got charged 49. Now on chat to get this cancelled

  • Now I have to set up a sellers account to get a refund

  • +1

i'm not eligible. It says I've already taken the free trial before.

You have already tested eBay Plus for free. If you sign up now, the membership fee is due immediately.

  • I wonder when this offer is availabke until?
Thinking of activating on the 27th to capture the boxing day sales too….

  • +1

Either expired or I'm not eligible.

My "paid" account recently expired, so that may be why.

    • I also see this. Did anyone else ignore that message and get it free when they signed up?

      • Yes.

    • Get the same message but 1st month still appears as free. Waiting a few more days before signing up…

      • how? did you sign up for monthly and it didn't charge you right away despite saying that it does?

        • I still have the option to select monthly sub and it's marked as free. Will activate tmr and report

          • @ShouldIBuyIt: does yours look like this?

            • @lostn: No, first month was free. Looks like you don't have the offer, sorry mate

          • @ShouldIBuyIt: So were you able to activate and not get charged? I'm hesitant to activate since earlier commenters are having all sorts of issues getting charged anyway.

            • @zeno: Yes, activated yesterday morning. Confirmed on screen and email.
              Membership Details
              Start date: 27-Nov-21
You’ve been charged AU $0.00 for your first month of membership.

              • @ShouldIBuyIt: Thanks for confirming! I actually spoke to eBay live chat earlier and they said I will be charged if I do so, so didn't proceed with activation. Now, I'm thinking if I should try just go ahead and try my luck.

                • @zeno: If your screen looks like this comment then don't do it. It should say free first month

                  • @ShouldIBuyIt: Mine says free first month with note saying I have already used my trial previously. Same as yours basically.

    • Not free, mine expired 24th and signed up today just to use the PLUS voucher that I forgot ($10) and $5 cashback. Paid $4.99 for one month ebay plus.

      • I was able to redeem: $40 voucher when paying $49, if that helps (literally signed up 10 minutes ago) ;)

        • +1

Thanks, but I find it hard to use that voucher as you can't stack with any other discount. And there's not much I can buy from ebay (no coles)

          • +1

@akte: Yea, the non-stacking voucher sucks.. I'll buy some cheap wine or something! ;)

        • What's the criteria to sign-up to this offer? Everytime I try it says I'm ineligible.

  • +2

Not really related to this deal but I'm old ebay plus member (cancelled Oct 2020) and I was randomly charged 49.00 bux today. After numerous calls between PayPal and ebay they finally verified that the payment was on their end and shouldn't have gone through. After probing further she admitted I wasn't the only one to receive this charge by mistake.

Just putting this here incase someone else gets a random 49.00 charge.

    • +1

Exactly eBay plus is rubbish the only way you don't get charged is to setup with a new email address

    • that's exactly happened to me. had to wait weeks to be paid back into my account :(

  • +1

Wish i read the comments before.. charged $49 after ticking the $0 month option..Great.

  • +1

Don't do it guys. They will charge you in full $49

Happened to me two years back no other way but file PayPal dispute. Customer service was rubbish

  • +3

Please KEEP IN MIND their customer service beyond any class, lack of decision making and purely bureaucratic behaviour
I personally expierienced when the seller/s advertises expired promotion codes and managment have no rights to act on sellers
that's why major retailers like coles have already removed themselves as ebay were unable to handle them

  • I thought I might be eligible, today I rang "Have us call you", was told I had a 12 month membership which expired 4 Dec 2021, that was news to me. I have not been getting eBay Plus email offers, no renewal email and there is no membership page I can access, it's as though I never was an eBay Plus member! I have been getting spasmodic/intermittent pop ups offering the "$40 eBay Plus Voucher" and "The best of eBay for only $4.99 a month". When I click "Join now" I get "You have already tested eBay Plus for free. If you sign up now, the membership fee is due immediately." and the $4.99 page does not lead to a $4.99 a month sign up, the only option offered is the $49.00 Can anyone else access the pay by the month option?

  • Just got an invoice for $4.99… eBay chat being useless

    • +1

      Same here.

      • +2

The chat agent eventually got back and acknowledged I was wrongly charged, said "refund" would be processed within 7-10 business days. Not that I had been charged yet, and I removed my payment method before they could.

    • +1

      Me too.

    • Same, messaged them via online chat. The agent said it will be escalated and I will be contacted in 7-10 business days. LMAO.

  • Me too!
    EBay scrums

  • I signed up for this offer. Almost two months now, never got charged yet ! Is it a glitch ?
