  • One can sign up for a free one if you are an AGL Rewards customer.

    • How do you get onto the rewards program?

      • +1

        Be a customer

        • I'm an AGL customer but all I see in the rewards section is giftcards.

          • @mimik13: Rewards customers got an email yesterday for an invite for a signup, check your emails. It could be targeted though.

          • @mimik13: Hopefully Going broke can clarify.

            • @WhyAmICommenting: Guys could be targeted I definitely got it. One person I know just got it a few mins back, maybe staggered target? Wait for it?

    • Do you have the direct link? I see they're selling starter kits that include sensibo sky but I couldn't find any fee ones.

    • They offered me one for $89. Where are you seeing it for free?

  • Dont use a Sensibo, instead buy a smart infrared blaster, then use it as a remote controller, can control your aircon, tv…etc

    • +2

Isn't this product a smart infrared blaster? Genuine question.

      • +1

It is but it is split system specific. The UI is much better than your generic blaster however the use case is limited to your AC.

        • Thanks. What are other applications for IR blasters? Anything apart from/beyond controlling your TV, receiver, DVD?

          • +1

@pizzaguy: Anything that you have remote control for, you can use your remote control to train the IR blaster and then use the IR blaster to control your device, then integrate with Alexa, Google Assistant, so the result would be something like "Alexa, turn on the fan/TV/Aircon/DVD..etc",

From what I understand the sensibo can remember the state of the aircon, so you know what temperature or mode it’s on
The IR blaster can send commands only. It is perfectly fine if your Aircon uses complete status commands like mode+temperature+etc. I will be taking my BroadLink IR blaster with me when aircon shopping just to be safe:|

I use broadlink and I agree with u. As long as ur AC remote support complete status command it's better value then sensibo

        • Is there an easy way to tell if ACs supports complete status commands before buying it?

Is the command a series of individual commands or is it simply one command?

Curious as I'm trying to evaluate the cost of WiFi connected AC vs existing smart home + broadlink and obviously convenience of each.

          • @J4ek: I am in the same boat, I thought I’ll ask the ozbargain community for successful BroadLink integration experiences and focus on those models/brands.
            Or…
Hotspot the BroadLink and connect to power bank then go first-hand aircon shopping 🤷‍♂️

            • @HunterBargainHunter: Don’t go broadlink or ir blaster if you use the remote too.

I went dakin and WiFi, not amazing but reports the status back which ir blasters can’t do. So when the wife uses the remote I know what is going on, but less control only temp / mode really via WiFi.

          • +1

@J4ek: Generally u can tell from the remote itself. Dumb AC only takes one command at a time. So if u cover the IR blaster on the remote and adjust speed, fan and temperature, then uncover the remote and press +1 temperature, dumb AC will only take the last +1 temperature command. A complete command AC will adjust all the speed, fan, temperature at once.

All the cool stuff is stuck behind a paywall

    • Agreed, I have two of these and it's super annoying they want more money to get basic features like reminders to clean AC.

  • Didn't get an email from AGL Rewards regarding a free unit, but when I logged into my account online I see:

Get an exclusive offer on Sensibo Sky only $89 (RRP $149) when you join Peak Energy Rewards Plus – the program that makes it easier to meet your reduction targets during peak events.

  • How does this compare to the

Cielo Breez Eco Smart AC Controller | Works with Mini Split, Window & Portable ACS | WiFi, Alexa, Google, SmartThings, Free Apps, NO Monthly Subscription | Schedules, Geofencing, Comfy & More (Black) (B07MBP8RZM)

The Cielo is $68 on camel camel which appears to be lowest price

    • Sounds interesting, thanks I’ll check it out later

  • OW goes boom with $107 😁
