    If you haven't already, be sure to link a payment method to your account prior to the promo going live.

    Uh… there is nowhere to link a payment method to accounts. Unless you mean for Shopback to pay us, not for us to pay Shopback - which would make no sense, because we have to specifically request withdrawals after cashbacks arrive - so you must mean enter bank details to fund the gift card purchase, right?

    My bank account details are already listed under WITHDRAWALS ("Withdraw Money"). But there IS nowhere to enter a payment method ready to PAY for purchases. And yes, I realise the bank details under "Withdraw Money" might be used for both… but in that case why list bank details only under "Withdraw"?

      Are you on the app? If so, it's under Accounts then Add/Manage Payment Methods (first option below "See Cashback Details")

      If the card is linked to your Withdrawal payment method, it should be usable when paying for Gift Cards.
      You can go to our Gift Card store, click on a Gift Card and see what payment methods you've got linked in the bottom right corner.

        Thanks. The problem was I was using the website. I thought since it's the same account, the app and site would be the same. i.e. There's a place in the phone app to add a funding account, but not on the website.

          Ahh I see!

          As our Gift Cards are only sold through our App, we only require the Card to be linked on there.
          Once we launch Gift Cards on web some time down the line, you will be able to link/unlink cards from web as well :)

            @gotyourback: Good to read thats coming. I'm kinda against pointless apps and the data they can collect, doing most my shopping on a PC, your apps only benefit seemed to be giftcards over the site. Since I do buy gift cards though that means I used your competitor via a browser and since I started accruing money there it makes sense mostly to just move over and keep doing that even though sometimes your offers were a little better.

            Also while I'm griping … Your promotions I see here always seem to be around the App and gamification of spending to achieve rewards… not a fan of that approach kinda goes against the idea of saving money and makes me wonder about how this affects people with poor impulse control or decision making skills.

              @Elijha: Hey mate, thanks for the feedback!
              I understand where you're coming from completely and in a perfect world, we would've launched everything equally on both platforms (app & web).

              As we're still fairly new in the Australian market (3 - 4 years old) we had to analyse the data on which platform drives the most traffic and make a strategic decision to improve that one first.
              We definitely aren't neglecting web by any means, it's just receiving a little less love and taking a little more time to progress in comparison.

              Things that we know work will eventually find their way across to web.
              If we went guns blazing across both platforms we'd need to spend a lot more, all whilst being uncertain about if the new feature will be received well by our users.

              On your final point, I agree that saving money is a great skill to have.
              I also believe that knowing the difference between an essential purchase and a non-essential purchase is very important.
              This being said, I don't think we're an app for saving money in the context you're referring to.
              We offer Cashback and Bonuses as a way for customers to save some cash on their shopping trips, but we definitely aren't screaming "Don't spend, save your money!".
              Without customers shopping through our links, SB/CR would simply cease to exist.

    About 5% chance you actually get the cash back. Then when you enquire, they give you some BS excuse why it can't be done.

    "This particular shop in your particular area doesn't agree to the purchase despite your invoice evidence so we can't pass on the cashback to you" try being more transparent in the first instance then.

      Unless being up late alone in dark frightens some people I fail to see the problem. You would only buy an ebay gift card if you plan to buy something on ebay. So you would have spent $15 on ebay anyway. If you miss out on the cashback you still have your $15, it cost you nothing. Additionally someone above /\ said if you're not one of the first 2000 people the purchase will probably be rejected, because that's how it has worked in the past.

        Sorry to say but this type of help is not good enough. It should be done automatically by ShopBack system by default.

        Seeing many complaints online about ShopBack not giving the cashback means something off with your program.

        I referred my friend and she ticked all the requirements but I never get referral bonus. Do I have to contact you everytime we didn’t get cashback? Sure it’s not why I’m joining ShopBack. I want it a flawless experience.

        Once or twice is okay we missed it. But more than that then it’s natural people will compare it with Cashrewards.

      They will work for 1 purchase.

      Our system doesn't allow too many card links/unlinks in a short time period, so I would advise against it if possible.

        I had about 5 cards in my account (some of them were one time generated), so I did a big clean up.

        Now it says try again later whenever I try to add a new card…

    does this work on the app? i tried making a dummy purchase for a card, selected the amount, chose to pay with my reward balance but at the part where it says swipe to pay, the amount shows $0.00

      It's the only place it will work, we don't sell Gift Cards on web yet.

      If you wish to purchase a $15 Gift Card and have $20 Cashback available in your account, it will take the full $15 from that available balance to pay for it & you won't need to pay anything with your card :)

    I’m confused-What will be the difference between the normal eBay gift cards and these `only 2000 available’ gift cards? Will this banner be located on top of the gift cards page? Surely someone will accidentally buy the wrong gift card.

    Also why can we only add card as payment option? You don’t allow PayPal?

      There will be a banner at the top of the page, and we've done our best to specify that regular stock will not be eligible.
      I've also asked if we can turn off regular eBay Gift Cards while the promo is live to reduce any confusion.

      PayPal has merchant fees which will eat into the slim profits margins Gift Cards have.
      Hopefully down the line we can offer more payment methods.

    And iirc there was some problem using ebay AU gift cards to pay for stuff on ebay USA… Something like ebay forces you to pay GST even though you're shipping a USA item to another USA address!? Is that dog-act still happening?

      I've organised the regular Gift Cards to be offline while this promo is active to avoid any confusion.
      We will have a banner at the top of the Gift Card homepage that calls out 100% Cashback on $15 eBay Gift Cards.

      When you click through, there will only be one denomination on that screen ($15).
      The regular eBay Gift Cards with multiple denominations will be offline until the 2,000 $15 cards are sold out.
