UPDATE: Personally tested 26/11 5.29pm and still working. Sorry I don't know why some people are unable to complete their purchase. My previous CC was out of date but once I fixed that inside Afterpay I was able to purchase the PlayStation Plus Membership with $20 discount.

As noted by ajooba if you are having trouble checking out with Afterpay, try changing it to delivery and see if that fixes it.

PS5 Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut $79 then your $20 off.

  • Oh no, I just realised I signed up for afterpay ages ago, never used it, and now lost the $30 referral bonus (valid for 90 days, and that ended 3 days ago…)

    • RIP

    • Even if you call them up, and beg till you work up a pool of tears they will never extend the date of any user-specific promos.

    • Did your $30 referral bonus show up in your Afterpay account with an expiry date? I cannot see it in my account and it doesnt apply at checkout for any purchase over $50.

    • I am not alone… didn't know that it's only valid for 90 days…

  • -1

Does this stack up with the $20 amex offer?

    • +2

How would it? You are not paying to JB, but to APT.

  • Would this work on preorderering a game?

    • Yes

  • +1

ta got PS Plus for my son

    Sackboy Big Adventure PS4 isn't $49 @JB :(

$49 + Bieber album would've been checkout perfect.

  • +1

Thanks OP grabbed the PS+ 12 months, winner

  • +4

Really didn't want a bieber album so I had a look at what else I could get… Bunch of $1 phones cases: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/collections/mobile-phones/phone-ac…

  • What do you use firestick for?

  • Which would you guys recommend

Amazon Echo Show 5 with Alexa (2nd Gen) Or Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen Smart Home Display

    • +2

I'd go the Google nest hub mate. I had most of the Amazon devices and they were good but I feel like they aren't as responsive as Google. If you really care about linking up a lot of smart devices and RGB lights then Amazon devices have a lot more options, if not I'd go Google any day.

      • Thanks got google much better option

  • How does this work out for in store transactions, would the $20 off be applied automatically once I chose to pay using Afterpay? Do I need to let the checkout staff know? Wonder how would an instore transaction differentiate between a new user vs an existing one.

    • When you use your AP app, it will show you what your payment will be, so the discount should be applied there being a 1st time purchase, personally I would do the purchase online then pick up in store to make sure the discount was applied.
Afterpay knows your purchases so would know that you have purchased from JB before.

    • No, just pay for it using tap and go with after pay card selected, just like a normal transaction

  • +1

Thanks OP, bought a pair of j75t elite active headphones to click and collect for $149!

  • how would you know if its your first purchase in jb?

    • +1

      check your afterpay purchase history

      • +1

        Thanks

      • Also prior to final confirm on afterpay page it will show final cost

  • +2

I have just made an AP account via referral. Will this stack with "Referrer and Referee receives $30 off next eligible Afterpay purchase of $50 or more."?

    • Wondering the same thing.

    • Gave it a shot. Got the $20 off straight away, not sure on the referral yet.

Worst case next time i was going to just pay for something ill use afterpay and get the $30.

      • How long is it meant to take for the $30 to appear?

Can people who have successfully used the referral system please comment?

        • +1

The $30 referral discount instantly appear on my first Afterpay payment to Mwave this morning.
But I haven't been able to get the $20 discount for first purchase from JB working…

          • @Alinnia: I guess it doesn't stack with this JB one then

  • Has this expired? Can't get the $20 off to work on Pokemon Arceus.
I literally just created an Afterpay account yesterday and did one purchase at BigW.
    Am I missing something?

    • That's a pre order. Probably for in stock items only

      • Yeah thats what I thought as well, but then I tried Ratchet and Clank for comparison, and still no discount applied at the Afterpay payment page :/
Also saw a comment earlier of someone who was able to preorder Pokemon with the discount.
        Might message customer service.

  • So if you've used Afterpay at JB ever before it doesn't work right? Can't get the discount to come up.

    • It is for your 1st purchase at JB.

  • damn noone has used my afterpay referral code yet :(

    • +2

must be a few ignorant souls like me, signed up without referral :\

    • did you price match in person or online

  • That worked with Click & Collect. Cheers !

  • +3

Doesn't work for me just now. I created Afterpay just this morning and have only purchase was at Mwave. This is my first JB order using Afterpay and at the Afterpay screen when I try to buy Playstation Plus 12 months subscription it shows $53.30 (payment schedule of $13.33, $13.33, $13.33, $13.31) so no $20 discount. Any suggestions?

    • +1

same here, just signed up but cannot see discount getting applied :(

    • +1

I've called Afterpay and he said that he can't see the promo on their side and that I need to contact JB. So I'm now trying to contact JB and submitted a payments request ticket via the JB website…

I've already tried a few things and the discount just isn't being applied at the Afterpay screen. Tried checking out as a guest then not as a guest, tried purchasing a different product (Pokemon Diamond), tried delivery, tried pick up in store… Just can't seem to get that discount working.

    • +2

I’ve got the same issue too. Signed up yesterday and no discounts are appearing in the Afterpay checkout. Frustrating because I spent hours deciding what to make up the $50 with

    • +1

I got the same issue. I created my Afterpay account this morning. I tried to use the promo on JB Hi-Fi, the discount was applied but the transaction was declined. Later I used Afterpay on ebay and the transaction was successful. And now when I try on JB Hi-Fi again there is no discount anymore.

  • +1

My order just keeps getting declined? I just signed up to Afterpay and put in a CC and it says i can spend $600 but my order fails everytime. I've tried click and collect and delivery at a collection point.

    Any ideas?

    • same here. It's showing the discount but can never get through the order. It's determining many factors to accept the order and consider our ability to pay. But I'm pretty sure I can pay $13 x 4!!!

    • Same here. I think they just don’t want to honour the $20 off to new client.

  • New afterpay account transaction declined, disappointed.

  • "Sorry, we're unable to approve your order. " Just signed up, ordered a mouse from JB. I just got scammed by afterpay?

  • I had the above issue too - first time user, signed up on the spot and won't let me check out a pick-up order. But I waited around 1-2 hrs and managed to get it thru. Not sure exactly why?

    • Lucky you. 9 hours later and still no luck

  • Just signed up for Afterpay, checking out a microphone worth $69 from JB. I don't see the credit or discount of $20. Tried changing different delivery methods, yet, afterpay shows 4 equal payments for $69. What am I missing?

    • +1

Refer to few comments above. Promoted discount hasn't been applying to Afterpay since this morning. Not sure if issue is because JB turned off the discount on their end or something…

      • +1

Thanks… Feeling unlucky today… First, I don't see the Amex deal on my card, and now this… d*mn

      • Did it in store this morning and got the $20 off

  • I used a similar deal on Mwave (30 dollars off minimum spend) and now the jbhifi discount is no longer showing when I'm at checkout (i kept getting declined so I went elsehwere), are these promotions linked despite being completely different?

Looks like the deal might be temporarily disabled then? If anyone else can confirm with a recent purchase within the past hour?

  • Went to JB, lined up for 15min, transaction declined. Pissed off.

  • In regards to Afterpay… is there some kind of bonus you can get by signing up using another person's link, etc?

    • You get $30 off $50 spend

  • When you use the referral link, it will give you $30. Much better than $20 haha

  • Looks like it is finished.

  • +1

Thanks! I bought a $50 digital gift card and checked out with Apple Pay and used my AfterPay card and it’s 4x payments of $7.50. Sweet!

    • Did you buy Digital Gift card online?

      • Yep

    • Hi, where do you select apply pay as payment option? I can't see, only have credit card and PayPal.

      • Same section as those. I did it on my iPhone

        • Does the discount show before you pay? I only see pay $50 via Apple Wallet

          • @Pricebeat: It shows in the afterpay payment schedule part of the process

            • @j1nk0r: It still shows $50 on the payment confirmation screen for me at the last bit where I must "double click to pay".
Was your discount applied at this stage? or after completing the purchase and in Afterpay summary on the app?

              • @wordsmith: After completing

                • @Rexx: Thank you, it did seem to work as my card was charged for 7.5 on first attempt, though the order eventually failed. Perhaps, something to do with me being new customer like others here.

  • +1

thanks. ordered Radiohead Kid A Mnesia and OK NOT OK albums. wouldn't let me do c&c so next cheapest was a collection point delivery for $3.98. take my money and run, JB

  • Hmm so still working. Wouldn't apply for me as a first time Afterpay user at JB.

  • +1

Thanks, just got Halo Infinite for $59.

    • Isn't it 'free' with game pass?

      • It is, but I don't have or want to be tied to game pass for Halo Infinite, as my son only plays Fortnite which doesn't need game pass, and we already have a stack of Xbox physical games to play.

  • "Sorry, we're unable to approve your order.
Afterpay takes a number of factors into account when making a decision to decline an order and given this we do not approve all of the orders that are made on the Afterpay platform."
    I'm sorry what???

  • This Stupid things keeps decling. what Absolute rubbish.

  • +1

Thanks! Worked for me, just got a Samsung T7 1TB for $129

  • +1

Just preorderd Elden Ring for $69. Should also get a refund for any price drops before release date.

  • Dang. Already used Afterpay at JB before. Anyone know if Afterpay affects credit scores? I could ask a sibling or roommate to create an Afterpay to use this offer, but I don't wanna mess with someone else's credit.

  • I just signed up to afterpay with a referral.
Then bought a Firestick at JB.
Afterpay immediately discounted $30 (the amount referrals get) so it doesn't seem to stack with this.

    • Thanks for sharing, this seems to match up with the following T&C:
      - Each Afterpay Promo may not be combined with any other Afterpay Promo.

  • It’s no longer showing as an offer in afterpay. It was earlier today.

    • How do you see 'offers' in Afterpay? Do you just search for the store name in the search box at the top of the website?

    • Did you use afterpay for any other deals today? In any other store? Experiencing something similar after I used afterpay on mwave.

  • Yes you can use it to buy $50gift card. Open jb site in a browser then choose apple pay it will show your apple pay wallet. Choose the afterpay card. Done. I got mine.

      • Interested to know this

        • Only shows reduced amount after payment in your Afterpay app

The full amount $50 is shown on Apple Pay screen

  • +1

I just signed up to afterpay today using an ozbargain referral. I tried to purchase a $99 item from JB and saw it was applying the $30 referral bonus. Didn't want to waste the $20 JB first purchase from this deal so went to BigW and bought something else over $50 to claim that $30 first.

However when I try to check out with afterpay now at JB it wont show $20 off the item per this deal. Any ideas gang? deal over?

    • +1

I did exactly this. Couldn't get the $20 either.

    • I wanted to do this now I'm a bit hesitant… any updates?

  • +1

Cheers OP, I ended up buying $150 worth of Nintendo eShop credit with $107.52.

I guess the stores I visited haven't updated their POS systems or something?

    1st step I bought a $250 Coles mastercard giftcard.
2nd step I bought a $100 HOME Gift card using the $250 Coles mastercard giftcard -which a few people seem to be having trouble doing. But heck, I even asked for a split payment at the cash register and used TWO of my Coles mastercard giftcards to buy the $100 HOME gift card and they both went through fine. Maybe split payment is key? Nevermind, I just remembered buying $150 HOME giftcards yesterday using a single Coles mastercard giftcard. I guess it's more than likely that it's just that my local Coles haven't updated their POS system.
3rd step I bought $60, $60, $30 worth of Nintendo eShop credit in store at JB HiFi asking for a split payment of $100 and $50, and used the $100 HOME gift card + $50 Afterpay through Google pay.

All discounts went through perfectly. End result, $107.52 for $150 Nintendo eShop credit.
