Pretty solid price on a quality SFX power supply for everyone who picked up the cheap NR200P deal recently.

I haven't pulled the trigger yet - may regret not doing so but hoping the Cooler Master SFX PSUs get back to $120-140 this weekend as per this deal

Happy hunting!

Edit: Realised this will stack with this $20 off Amex Offer if you're eligible so I pulled the trigger :)

Not a deal for this model. BPC have it at 159 (OOS atm), PCByte 159 as well and 169 at both scorptec and PCCG.

      Platinum vs gold

      • Good catch!

Oh my bad on that, good eye :)

I rescind my comment then :)

      • What can the platinum do that the gold can't?

        • +1

It's just a measure of efficiency. Due to the way electronics work, less than 100% of the power from the wall is converted into usable power for your PC. The higher the rating, the less power that goes to waste.

The interesting/confusing bit, is that because you usually have to use higher quality components to deliver higher efficiency, these ratings become a proxy for quality assessment. So people assume a Platinum PSU must be better built than a Gold PSU, but when you go across brands and models, this definitely might not be the case

For the Corsair SF line, the Platinum ones have nice individually sleeved cables whereas Gold have the stiff unsleeved type.

        • +1

The platinum model is newer and is basically a mini refresh, so it has some improvements (like the cables).

Well they're all fairly good deals then too - pending shipping costs. I feel like this price for this unit is still a bit of a deal - happy to be proven wrong

edit: as XanderYuan said - they're gold models not Platinum

SFX gang :D I recently upgraded from mini tower to mid tower and now my SFX PSU is sitting like an ant with a SFX to ATX plate.

Good deal. I would prefer this to the cooler master as its slightly higher quality and the zero RPM fan mode is really nice. Also comes with sleeved cables.

    • Cooler Master also has a 15% fanless thing, perhaps not as good as Corsairs and you're definitely right on the sleeved cables.

Just not sure whether to pay the premium when CM offers you 150-250w more for less money.

  • Scorptec has the Cooler Master 750 for 149 if anyone is interested.

    • Any feedback on the revised fan version from Cooler Master? Last I heard, their first Gen was very loud.

Cheers - picked this up for the NR200P deal a little while back!

  • I have this PSU in a Silverstone SG13. A gotcha that I wasn't aware of before the install was that the PSU has a zero rpm mode at low loads - which does all kinds of nasty things to airflow in the SG13.

It's still an awesome PSU, and I will probably get a different case soon, but forewarned is forearmed etc…

  • Does amazon still do the price drop protection? I picked this up literally a few days ago, and I haven't even opened the package yet.

    Edit: And finished.
