                • @kekw: No, but it clearly says that in the T&C's

        • ex.

          iPhone 7 - $15
          so it will be 999 - 500 - 15 = 484
          if you don't return your phone, 484 + 15 + 60 (admin fee) = 559

          iPhone X - $190
          so it will be 999 - 500 - 190 = 309
          if you don't return your phone, 309 + 190 + 60 (admin fee) = 559

          same.

          • @bawawaw: Yes, but you forget to subtract the sale value for the phones. It's $499 - $150 you would be able to sell the iPhone 7. The admin fee never got charged

            • @dosada: yup. just showing the other mate that the trade-in phone value will not matter in the final price if he opt not to send.

              • @bawawaw: So they'll charge a $60 admin fee instead of the estimated trade-in phone value? In that case it doesn't matter what phone we trade in then.

                • @Lionchu: I think you've missed what bawawaw is saying - from the example shared, if you don't return the phone you will pay an admin fee ($60) and you will pay the trade-in value ($15 or $190 per above). Will they charge the additional $500 bonus too? Seems some have got lucky and not paid, others not so lucky. You've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?'

got a 256gb version for $780 on black friday and thought that was a great deal, wonder if i can return it

    • +4

      Trade it in =D

      • 😂

      • Can't trade up from an existing Flip3… Tried. 😅

    • Damn, Samsung phone does tank down really fast, its not even half year from its released day!

    • If you haven't opened it, you can return it within 14 days to any Samsung Store.

  • +2

can't wait for Fold 3 to be under <$899 now from samsung store. ;p

  • I half wanted to do this deal and trade in my Oppo Find X2 Pro, but the camera on the Flip 3 doesnt seem to be as good and all the doohickey with contacting samsung for codes is a bit annoying.

    • Still the best price it has ever been, even without using any codes.

    • +1

the find x2 pro is a cracker of a phone - this may not be an "upgrade"

    • I just bought to resell it for a better price.

  • Has anybody tried store pick up? is it faster than waiting for delivery?

    • Usually it's delivered the next day

      • We are approaching Xmas and Australia post is so messed up at the moment. On top of that I won't be home for delivery so I chose store pick up. We'll see how it goes…

        • +1

They use star track, they still have their $hit together and manage to deliver overnight

          • @dosada: Also wondering this, how long would delivery usually be?

            • @miinht: Usually delivered the next business day. I have never had them be late.

          • @dosada: I received 2 deliveries in the last week from Start Track, both of which required a signature.

Both deliveries were left at the front door in full view of everyone even though we have large pot plants at the door which they could have placed the items behind. One of the items was a new Dell laptop worth a couple of grand.

I sold my old laptop and posted if off to a buyer over east last week too. A few days later they delivered it to my address, even though it was clearly labelled….Aus Post / Star Track are useless. Make sure you're home to collect your new phone!

        • Samsung uses Premium Express so trust me, APost always put them over the top of the line (99.9%) ;)

          • @Nguyeniaht: My last order (Galaxy S21 Ultra) took 2 weeks to arrive. I had to contact Samsung and StraTrack 100 times…

            • @KB57: Thats so unlucky. My orders always on time…..

  • i go ahead for $529, but it would be cracker if $100+ $50 would stack.

  • Does this support dual Sim?

    • One physical and one eSim

  • Awesome deal grabbed it. Can anyone recommend a decent case for this?

    • +1

considering the form factor where most of the screen is generally protected, maybe consider a skin instead?

  • Got bespoke version (256GB) for $669 with free samsung care+

not sure why I did this because I just got one back in Oct (see my post) :'-)

    • +1

      Free samsung care+ how?

      • Change to bespoke version. Normal version is half price

        • Would u suggest to buy Samsung care+? i have fold3 so thinking if i should get it. how does it work with standard 2 year warranty? e.g. in case phone is faulty and has to be returned, do we still need to pay replacement or will that be done as part of warranty

  • Flip better not be a flop

  • During the checkout there was a bonus $500 applied to my account and I ended up paying $139 for a Z flip 3 5G 128GB mobile. I cannot believe this, let’s see if they honour this.

    • What did you trade? It won't accept my iphone 5s.

      • iPhone XS Max 256GB

        • +1

And what's unsual about that? $139 is after deducting the trade in value of the iPhone?

    • how is it that you're still paying $139 if you get an additional $500 when 128GB only cost $499? should you not be in credit instead?

      • The $499 is already with the $500 trade-in bonus applied.

  • Question for all, do I have 7 days from date of purchase to return the trade-up phone? As the flip is currently in preorder expected to be delivered after 23rd Dec, i will be without a phone for more than a week. thanks.

    • +3

7 days from date received not purchased. Samsung will send you instructions once delivery is confirmed.

      • thanks much!

    • which colour did you order?

      • lavender for missus.

    • Had the same question - thanks kaykay4 and Maestrok!

With regards to a case, we've been using these $10 ones off ebay for over 2 mths now. Fit well and has survived a few drops already.

Have always used spigen cases but couldn't find a decent one at the time so decided to get a cheap one as an interim. However we have been so impressed with the $10 one that we haven't switched since.

    • Do you know any good screen protectors glass?

      • The Flip3 comes with a screen protector already installed.

  • Would this work on an S8?

I tried on a V30 and said not eligible

    • Yes

Warning for those not planning send in their old phone for trade in. I wanted to check it was fine before I went through with it myself

I connected with Samsung Chat. They have mentioned "Yes, so if you don't return the old phone. The charge is the amount of the old phone + $60 admin free + $500 bonus."

I asked him to confirm it with the team "Thanks. Yes, it's confirmed. Samsung will charge you the additonal bonus."

They said they will be removing the word "may" to change to "will" be charged any additional bonus credit in the FAQ

Sadly looks like they have tightened up their process recently

    • +2

At the time of buying, the policy hasn’t changed. If they now change it, it cannot be retrospectively applied.

      This is the T&Cs:

      https://images.samsung.com/is/content/samsung/assets/au/terms/trade-up/samsung-online-trade-up-terms-030821.pdf?$ORIGIN_PDF$

Also, for my phone, the trade in from Apple is $465…Samsung is offering $360.

      • -1

        law 101 there

      • is this the latest t&c?

      • the new T&C is dated as 3 August 2021 !!

        • Where is the date mentioned, cant see one

      • +2

correct me if I'm wrong but the T&Cs linked here define a Device Non Return Fee as "a fee which is equal to the amount of the discount You received when
Your unique Trade ID was applied at the point of sale when You purchased Your New Samsung Device Online in accordance with clause 5.2 of these Terms and Conditions"

        aka the $500 discount?

        • 99% sure thats in relation to the 'discount' from returning your phone into them. the 'Bonus' is different.

"in accordance with clause 5.2 of these Terms and Conditions."
"5.2 Once the Samsung Trade-Up App confirms that Your Existing Device Qualifies for the Program,
          You will be:
          (a) advised of the discount that You will receive off the Purchase Price of a New Samsung
Device if You purchase Your New Samsung Device Online and trade-in Your Existing
          Device to Us; and
          (b) provided with a unique Trade ID that You can use to apply that discount at the point of
sale when purchasing Your New Samsung Device Online from Samsung."

so from what I understand its saying they will refund you the discount you get at the checkout. and in clause 5.2 that discount is what is shown in the samsung trade up app, (the bonus is not on the app)

          • @abjsdhasehasee: Haha… this is the $500 question. I've read the same stuff, and it all boils down to this definition in Section 13
Device Non-Return Fee - means a fee which is equal to the amount of the discount You received when Your unique Trade ID was applied at the point of sale when You purchased Your New Samsung Device Online in accordance with clause 5.2 of these Terms and Conditions.

Clause 5.2 does, however, only make reference to the trade in value in the Samsung Trade Up app, and the app also goes to great length to warn you of your "possible fees & charges", with a "Device is not returned" being $200 in red for me for my Samsung S10.

            • @milkabuck: ye wish this stuff was EXTREMELY clear, and the thing is you just know if you ask a samsung rep they will l 90% chance lie.
bought s21+ with $300 bonus so its not AS bad but still Bbbbbaddd

    • +1

If they try to charge you just tell them you dropped it and cracked the screen, ask if they still want it. I am sure they will be happy to not take it.

      • That's what I've done in the past.

I made sure I saved the e-mail as proof that I contacted them for further advice on how to proceed….they referred my query to another team to respond and I haven't heard from them since..

        • when was this happened? recently? Also did you get charged on trade-in values?

    • +1

      From the T&C's yummytofu posted

      5.6 If You:
      (a) fail to return Your Existing Device to Us within seven days after the date on which You receive Your New Samsung Device, You may be charged a Device Non-Return Fee and a Device Non-Return Administration Fee in accordance with clause 6.2(a) below; or
      (b) return a device to Us that is an In-eligible Device, You may be charged an In-eligible Device Fee in accordance with clause 6.2(b) below; or
      (c) return a Mis-Graded Device, You may be charged a Mis-Grading Fee in accordance with clause 6.2(c) below.

6.2 You will also need to enter valid credit card details into the Samsung Trade-Up App, which only accepts credit card details (debit card details are not acceptable). You authorize Us to charge Your credit card:
      (a) a Device Non-Return Fee and a Device Non-Return Administration Fee if You do not return Your Existing Device to Us within seven days after the date on which You receive Your New Samsung Device.
      (b) an In-eligible Device Fee if You return a device which is an In-eligible Device. Upon payment of Your In-eligible Device Fee, Your In-eligible Device will be returned to You.
      (c) a Mis-Grading Fee if You return a Mis-Graded Device.

      • Thanks. I am just worried about the risk of getting into a legal argument with Samsung if they decide to charge the $500 bonus as they can say it is on their website even though it is not in the terms and conditions.

        • -1

A single email to the accc would solve that problem quite quickly

          • @dosada: except they have your credit card details already and will instantly charge you after the 7 days.. they wont even remind you…

then you'll have to work pretty hard to get your money back..

          • +2

@dosada: Highly doubt the ACCC will help out individual situations. It's not the way they work. They may act if there are alot of consumers complaining.

    • +1

T&Cs currently did not point anything with the $500 bonus. Just the old phone aka Device Non-Return Fee and A Device Non-Return Admin Fee. So I am not sure whom to believe!

    • +1

Yes, got the same confirmation. Reading the T&C does not make anything denies Samsung the right to charge the bonus amount as it is part of the trade-in amount discounted.

      • If I do ever get charged, then I will just simply return it within 14 days… talking about my order process, its confirmed!

        • I’m thinking the same thing but can only return if the item is unopened under Samsung returns policy

          • +2

@bargainhunter5: I would just leave it unopen and wait out…

            • @cloudie9: they may just charge your money after 14 days…

              • @aussie216618: Interested to see that happened to those who purchased 10 days ago and not returned the trade-in device. what were they charged. This would be the latest test case and actual experience if t & c gets applied or not

  • -1

Can anyone please explain to me why the bonus $500 isn't being put onto the final price. I'm getting $700 for a trade in with S20. Is that not eligible? Because I can see it in the search bar.

    Ok it applied.

Wondering if anyone was able to ask the chat people because it seems I can't get through to anyone.

If I send in my device (its got a little scratch on it) will this $500 bonus still apply? But they will just give me the difference between 270 -> 50 bucks if they think its not "minor"?

  • +1

Quick survey of those who have previously forgotten to send in their devices for trade in.

What happens if they cannot charge your credit card? i.e. if that card has been cancelled (or like a Revolut one off)

    • +2

They will forward this to a debt collector and you will very likely see it on your credit report. Not worth it

      • cheers. :)

    • -1

Nothing happens if they can't charge it. But that was in previous deals where you didn't have to send Photo ID

I assume if you try to do it now, they will send your details to the credit reporting body and you will get a bad credit rating.

      • I was kinda hoping they'd send you an invoice to "settle it" - which I'd have been happy to do. Oh wells!

        • just use a valid credit card?

          • @jamessong: I did..just habit meant I used my Revolut single use one (terminates after use). I was trying to find the option to change this on the app but no luck.

    • Actually the truth is that I did exactly what you are talking about multiple times and they never followed up or contacted me and there is nothing on my credit report or any contacts from debt collectors. But the amount of the phone value was very low. Also no admin fees.

      • yeh. my trade in phone value was $10. I wonder if I bother that's all. haha.

      • How much your trade in value? Cause someone said there is admin fees if value is too low ($20-40)…..

        • Interested see with someone with actual experience and that too one who purchased in past 2 to 3 weeks(as most are saying its something new)

  • I run the app, but was asked to submit my driver license and credit card, which is strange. How can I get the unique trade-in ID?

    • +1

Not at all without this. They are required by law to request your licence.

      • +1

I don't recall having to upload my driver's licence when I did the trade in deal with Samsung back in September for the Z Fold 3. Has the law changed in three months?

        • +1

No, it has been law for ages that second-hand dealers have to confirm your identity before buying items from you.

          • +1

@dosada: Well like I said, there was no requirement to upload my driver's licence online with Samsung trade-in's in the past. Clearly they must be trying to tighten it up now if they are changing their T&C for non-returns and are now requiring customers to upload their driver's licence. Not worth the risk IMO if you don't intend on sending your trade-in device back

            • @merajaan: I agree, the Korean just want to collect our private data. They have done this in smart TVs before.

              • @[Deactivated]: I mean as a business I understand why they would want to protect themselves against a huge number of people not sending their devices back. I'm just glad I ordered when I did back in September when a driver's licence wasn't required so I could easily not send my trade-in device back without any potential recourse

    • +2

by submitting your drivers license and credit card.
